The state of Oregon flag is unusually interesting in that the front and back are entirely different.

Well both shows are very similar although with many obvious differences as well and I read that J. Michael Straczynski had pitched this idea to Paramount Pictures in the late 1980s but Paramount ended up rejecting his TV series idea only to come out with the very similar Star Trek Deep Space Nine many years later.

These symbols are used by the Satanic Neo Nazi group The Order of Nine Angles. Dennis Rader/BTK likely had an interest in this group and Satanism in general.

Correct it is one of the many ceremonial flags that were used at various functions and likely during military parades.

I had been seeing a fictional version of this online that was being sold by third party sellers on sites like Aliexpress and Ebay. On Ebay there was a sales photo of it but it was not in a high enough quality so I ended up reproducing. Seeing it got me thinking that it must have been inspired by a real life Soviet flag so I went about doing a search online to see if that was in fact the case and in doing so came across this image which ended up fitting the bill although the fictional one being sold is different from the actual one you see here. It was very likely one someone either had or found at a store that sells militaria and this one would have very likely very expensive as militaria tends to go for very high prices so I would not be able to afford to purchase anything like this. I would agree though that it does look so cool.

The difference is that flags are horizontal whereas banners are vertical that is basically it.

A quick correction: A USSR Flag.

Yes it is but in fact a lot of Soviet flags and banners were full of text and imagery so they were a little to very busy. This is currently the case with many military flags of North Korea that are quite busy.

Yes Babylon 5 needs more material on cutaways like Star Trek and Star Wars have.
