Yeah they really just used the Nazi invasion as an opportunity to push through anti League reform they’d been fighting for internally in France through the 30s. Still a super interesting story although Hitler himself had likely never even heard of the sport.

It also stoked the passion for league with the underground working class and led to one of the greatest rugby league touring sides of all time visiting Australia in the 50s. The passion is still intense in Perpignan, it’s genuinely crazy you can run into an old French bloke who speaks broken English but will passionately explain why Cameron Circaldo’s defensive tactics at the Bulldogs have faltered, but couldn’t give a fuck about Kylian Mbappe or Zidane.

“Ashley Klein has forgotten that set restarts exist. He doesn’t care” lol Vossy firing off again

JGQuintel

Scott Street is about Marshall Vore isn’t it?

JGQuintel

Yeah the vehicle communicates with ATC and there’s audio going around where ATC gives it the all clear to cross, before frantically telling them to stop. Really shitty situation for all involved including the ATC.

That was part of it, but they’re trying to release the whole thing.

They say the total footage runs roughly eight hours and includes Timberlake’s initial stop, police questioning, the administration of field sobriety tests and his arrest.

I can see you’re being downvoted but I think people gotta remember there are now adults who weren’t even alive yet when MacGill, Australia’s second string spinner, played his last test.

In case anybody doesn’t read beyond the headline:

George Zinn, 71, further admitted to possessing child sexual abuse material

Authorities subsequently charged Zinn with second-degree obstruction of justice as well as various counts of sexual exploitation of minors.

The latter counts were connected to more than 20 images depicting child sexual abuse, including of minors believed to be between five and 12 years old – along with explicit messages sharing the imagery with others.

Got downvoted in the pregame thread for saying this Aussie side bats like shit in any overcast, cooler conditions. It’s a genuine problem.

The “I’m sorry she feels that way” apology to the woman she groped, and then saying she herself has “had nightmares” and playing victim. You can read her entire personality and demeanour through these few quotes. The type of person who’s never had any consequences and everything is always someone else’s fault.

Roberts was also known as a ‘tough guy’ in the league which really tripped a lot of people out at the time to learn that someone who seemed so masculine could be gay.

I don’t think anyone in either major Australian code (NRL/AFL) has come out as gay since?

For the Americans, this guy is a state MP, the equivalent of a house member in state legislature.

His right-leaning district (electorate) of Kiama re-elected him to parliament in 2023, despite these allegations arising in 2021, when his party expelled him, and knowing he was standing trial for the rape of two people. He ran as an independent.

He was convicted of both assaults this week, and found guilty of rape and three counts of indecent assault.

He worked for an airline

The first line of this article is

Spotify, SoundCloud and other platforms have pulled the song

It looks like ‘the song’ is one called ‘Heil Hitler’, but another song mentioned in the article, ‘WW3’, is still streaming.

People shouldn’t take any tweet from Tim Pool seriously, but sadly plenty do.

And it sucks because his Vice docos were actually good viewing back in the day. Then he completely flipped from a Bernie voter to Russian-backed MAGA culture war pot stirrer and now they’re difficult to enjoy or take remotely seriously.

Or if you’re there, don’t leave. This guy had lived and worked in the US legally for the last 7 years with 20+ exits and entries in that time, according to his quotes in the article. His work, life, home, and partner are all in the US. His visa was verified by The Guardian to be valid for another 14 months before needing renewal.

He’s now back in Australia, living on a friend’s couch, with a 5 year ban from the US and no idea how to continue his life.

A friend of mine had this happen - he believes his passport was stolen on the flight. Obviously had it with him when he took off, arrived in Shanghai, no passport to be found.

Surprisingly they just sent him back to Singapore and he was able to fly in with an emergency passport like three days later without an issue.

No woman has ever run a 4 minute mile. 1,755 men have run a 4 minute mile.

Sometimes I feel like people are living in fantasy land if they think men and women aren’t physically different enough to greatly affect things like stamina and strength. It’s clear as could be. That’s no ‘social’ issue, I’m sorry.

I suggest to this so-called influencer, maybe she should try some other Australian animals. Maybe she should try a crocodile

The Australian Prime Minister said this lmao

JGQuintel

It’s a rough draft obviously.

This man is a total cunt.

But I agree with boycotting Vail Resorts. Absolute money hungry corporate scumbags who’ve ruined resorts all over the world as they squeeze out every last drop of profit they can pillage.

Not just charged, but all now convicted

Who showed the same fake ID presented to the hostel by the person they believe was the gunman…

I don’t know, it’s not looking great.

JGQuintel

The headline is completely misleading. He never said he was impatient, the prosecutor said his actions implied he was impatient.

The article’s actual headline is:

Police officer Kristian White was ‘fed up’ when he tasered Clare Nowland, prosecutor tells jury

JGQuintel

Not only that, he’s already been sentenced to 45 years. It’s an outdated headline promoting a TV special about the case.

JGQuintel

His browsing history also showed searches including "internet browsing history: can it be used in court?"

The stupidity would be funny if it wasn’t so sinister
