Thank you!

JNighthawk

the Win64 ABI problem. Not a real concern in most cases but the cost can be noticeable in some cases.

Can you expand on this or link to a source? I'd like to know more about it.

JNighthawk

Is that Mr. Toots?

JNighthawk

No you asked me to prove something that I told you I didn't understand.

You made a claim, as well as saying you don't understand:

Effectively colluding to keep ICM pressure high and not take a player out when given the chance.

For this:

If I told you apples falling to ground are magic, I don't understand why it's physics. And you responded "prove that magic exists"...

Yes, that's called the burden of proof, when you claim that it's magic. If you just leave off that first sentence, there's no claim. You could simple say "I don't understand why apples falling to the ground is physics. Why is that?"

JNighthawk

Holy. My comment legit says "I don't understand" maybe can you tell me??

Is reading comprehension hard in this sub? Try being helpful and not a dick

You made a claim that they were effectively colluding. I asked you why you thought that. And you think I was being a dick and being unhelpful? I thought I was very politely trying to understand your thinking.

JNighthawk

Effectively colluding to keep ICM pressure high and not take a player out when given the chance.

Tell me what actions either player took that were not in their own best interests in the tournament.

JNighthawk

They just gave me his business card and when I call it goes to voicemail. I’m guessing I have to wait until Monday at this point.

Oof, that is unacceptable. Escalation to higher authorities makes more sense now.

JNighthawk

I wouldn’t have played in the game if I knew I can’t cash out same day is all.

Nothing in your post implies you wouldn't be able to cash out the same day. Did they tell you couldn't talk to the guy today? I imagine they would have paged him for this.

JNighthawk

That it's not economical doesn't mean someone doesn't care about their craft. Now sure why people are writing comments as if that's what they were saying above.

Probably some combination of AI propaganda successfully convincing some people, and astroturfing. It is sad that some people don't see games as an artistic medium. As if the game with the most "productive labor" put into it is going to be the best. They see no value in the journey itself, thinking only about the destination.

It's also sad that people are willing to overlook the massive ethical problems with AI companies, their disrespect for IP laws, and the misaligned incentives their business models create. Are there no things these people wouldn't do to "maximize productivity"?

JNighthawk

We care about our code running without issue and it not being a mess. We do not care how we get there.

Speak for yourself. I do.

JNighthawk

Players don’t take damage in planes. If a player dies in the plane it’s because the part that makes up their spot has been destroyed.

Yeah, no. The Warden paratrooper defensive gunner can and has killed plenty of paratroopers inside the plane. Don't know if they fixed it with the redesign.

JNighthawk

I mean, can you blame us? Wardogs is fun.

Wardogs respects my time, Foxhole does not. Even as a builder in Wardogs, it's more interesting than just holding left click. Target the X's for faster building, and did you know you can animation cancel the hammer swing to just about double your build speed?

JNighthawk

In the developers' defense, I’ll note that they really don’t ask us to pay for new updates.

Otherwise, you are right: the developers added content to the game by spreading the player base too thin, until it finally snapped. Everything done after Inferno has been a chaotic mess of errors.

Undermonetizing the game has been a failure on the devs part. 3 years ago, many vets would have paid $5/mo or buy a $20 pack to help development of the game and having a real-time moderation team. They could have had an annual supporter's pack with cosmetics. They finally added a supporter's pack with Airborne, but it's too little, too late.

JNighthawk

TIL std::call_once. Thanks for sharing!

JNighthawk

"Oh, shucks" is now how I'll respond when an enemy kills me unexpectedly.

JNighthawk

Some people claimed it didn't work for them, but I never had to go back into queue

It broke in Airborne, and now it'll go back to working again.

JNighthawk

This is in NH btw. The south of the north!

I've only been to one live racing event, and it was there. When I saw "Hudson International Speedway" on the wall, I did a double take. I don't remember exactly what I watched there (I was pretty young), but it reminded me of Car Wars, and it was great.

JNighthawk

I brought it up because you implied they failed because they didn't grow their

They said it was a mistake, not that the devs failed. You can make mistakes and still succeed.

JNighthawk

It definitely does tell you when you're making breachable HP worse.

No, it tells you when breachable health changes. It doesn't explain that an increase in breachable health is a bad thing. A naive builder seeing "increased X health" will think it's a good thing.

JNighthawk

It's partly because human "I don't like cats" body language means "I like you and I am your friend" in cat. So the cat reciprocates.

Cats are very susceptible to negging.

Right place right time

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. You were prepared to seize that opportunity.

JNighthawk

That has to be one of the most efficient mass killings I've ever seen. Time from entering truck to like 15 people dead is 5 seconds.

JNighthawk

Also it's "C++" not "c++"

what. No one gives a shit if it's capitalized.

Is that clearer to you now or shall I explain it in simpler terms?

No need to be an asshole.

This. the commentary for these streams have been perfect

Nick starts commentating, then Eric (who's in the hand) starts speaking, and Nick instantly shuts up. He knows the table talk is more interesting for viewers. What a pro.
