I don't know your situation, I'm not saying your mom was right or wrong. If she really destroyed your PS5 just because you got a B on a test, that's obviously not a good way to handle things.

At the same time, we're only hearing one side of the story. I've seen videos where it initially looked like a parent made their kid destroy a PS5 for something minor, but the full context was that the kid had violently thrown and hurt the family cat during an angry outburst. Without that context, the parent looked completely unreasonable, but with it, people viewed the situation very differently.

I've had something similar happen in League of legends too. een standaard trekhaakmodule met een bestaand artikelnummer die de verkoper alleen niet op voorraad had en daarom bij zijn leverancier moest bestellen niet echt op maatwerk. Dat de verkoper het onderdeel zelf niet kan retourneren aan zijn leverancier, verandert jouw wettelijke rechten als consument niet automatisch.

Als sprake is van koop op afstand, moest de verkoper je vóór de koop informeren over je herroepingsrecht, de termijn, de manier waarop je daarvan gebruik kunt maken en het modelformulier voor herroeping. terug te vinden in artikel 6:230m lid 1 onder h BW.

Als je die informatie niet hebt gekregen, bepaalt artikel 6:230o lid 2 BW dat de bedenktijd wordt verlengd totdat de ontbrekende informatie alsnog correct wordt gegeven, met een maximum van twaalf maanden extra.

wat wel even relevant is om te weten is dat het bedrijf in het recht staan om waarde vermindering toe te passen als je bijvoorbeeld de module hebt proberen te instaleren, en er montage sporen of beschadiging is aan de module. als je het product gewoon hebt getest zoals ze dat in de garage zouden doen, mag het bedrijf dus geen waardevermindering toepassen

wat ook relevant kan zijn is wat het bedrijf precies via WhatsApp heeft gezegd over de diagnose. Als zij hebben gezegd dat coderen niet nodig was, dat deze modules plug-and-play zijn en dat jouw oude module daarom defect moest zijn, dan heb je de nieuwe module gekocht op basis van hun deskundige advies. In dat geval kun je aanvullend stellen dat de geleverde oplossing niet voldoet aan de verwachtingen die zij bij de verkoop hebben gewekt.

Edit: terecht punt uit de reacties: WhatsApp alleen maakt dit niet automatisch koop op afstand. Daarvoor moet volgens art. 6:230g lid 1 onder e BW ook sprake zijn van een georganiseerd systeem voor verkoop op afstand. Als het bedrijf normaal via WhatsApp offertes en bestellingen afhandelt, kan dat daarvoor een aanwijzing zijn. Mijn punten over bedenktijd en “speciaal besteld” versus maatwerk gelden dus voor zover hier inderdaad sprake is van koop op afstand.

My best guess would be that stuff dropped from counter strike and team fortress loot boxes are seen as tradable items with real-world value more likely to trigger gambling laws, because it can be traded between other players, or sold on third party markets like mannco.store, marketplace.tf, skinsbaron, and bitskins that can be cashed out for real money.

I don't play any EA games so I can be wrong, but to my understanding EA's lootbox system gives you Non-tradable, in-game-only items drops that can't be traded or transefered outside your account, making it less likely to be targeted even if purchased with real money.
