the difference is generally going to come down to over exposure. Back in “The Day” vocaloid was a lot more niche and I (personally) feel like the fanbase skewed older, but now to me the fanbase feels younger (granted, I was 10 when I got into vocaloid, I’m 27 now) and the Teto popularity honestly got a bit…too much. Like the same memes repeating, same jokes, same duets with the same tuning, I don’t hate it or people who enjoy it, but it’s not my thing.

The IA boom is so uncomparable to Teto I feel, simply because Vocaloid isn’t really Niche anymore. I feel like Luka is more comparable though if we adjusted for the fandom size of each characters popularity boom, she was the first Voicebank to knock Miku off of #1 on the charts, an impossible feat back then.

my last partner disappeared one day, for similar reasons: got caught with illegal material on his phone at an airport (before we were together) and was arrested months later. Couldn’t get ahold of him, no one could, didn’t know his family at that point so I couldn’t reach out to them, his phone wouldn’t ring and messages wouldn’t send. Finally I figured it out from a news article, absolutely gut wrenching, didn’t eat for days and grew real paranoid of everyone around me for a bit…It’s hard, a feeling so many people don’t understand. This, I like Stella’s backstory and it makes her more interesting of a villain, the unsurprising reality that she was treated with misogyny by her brother and probably father. But she’s still a villain and abusive, her awful upbringing doesn’t absolve her of her own wrong doings, it just explains where it comes from.
