Europe is a tired old bear that allows itself to get poked, and if it reacts, it’s half blind and deaf. Nobody dares poke the US, China, and to an extent Russia directly. There’s no reason Europe can’t be the same. Not saying they should cave to nationalist and imperialistic tendencies, but more so having the option of true military deterrence instead of allowing themselves to get pushed around. Always a strongly worded letter instead of a “i’m going to beat the fuck out of you if you keep doing this” and having the assets to back up the claim. Geopolitical rivalries don’t follow the rules of diplomacy and international law. Nobody in the EU is realistically ever going to delve into war with each other in the future. It’s time to focus on Russian and Chinese deterrence, and maybe even the US in the future (i hope not).
