The age of costumed superheroes on DC starts with WW2, BUT DC and Marvel kind of have different approaches.
The DC universe always has had superhuman beings and they have always been part of society, even if they don’t put on a suit. Black Adam has been the leader of a country for a long long time.
Meanwhile Marvel has ancient superpowered societies but due to the sliding timeline they are perpetually only revealed to the public in recentish history.
Even the earth itself feels different, DC Earth is a lot more connected to the larger universe, it always appear to be a bit more advanced technologically than real world, there are humans in pretty much every cosmic faction, talking animal people are living alongside humans, aliens living in big cities. Marvel’s New York is… New York with a twist.

I feel like it’s partly a consequence of the X-Men being part of main 616 continuity. The mutants are editorially mandated to be hated by large swaths of the population, that alone colors the interaction between heroes and civilians, cause god is forcing hate to be a substantial portion of their psyche and it pulls the scales towards that. It’s easier to hate more when you’re obligated to hate already.
Other than that, I also think it’s also due to how the universe is structured. Marvel coops a lot of their characters in a single city and they are always bickering for the most unimaginable reasons, and due to the event history of Marvel their brand identity involves a lot more hero vs hero stories than DC, which leads to civilians being more campist.
DC distributes their heroes a lot more, geographically, so they don’t need to compete for their turf, and DC stories involve a lot more heroes cooperating and being buddies. When you have hero vs hero people get mad cause inevitable people will cry out of character writing.
Marvel heroes are a lot more ethically flexible too. So many telepaths. J’onn uses his telepathy mostly as a walkie-talkie, meanwhile mutant telepaths are routinely brainwashing people for all the reasons except than just making them not hate mutants.
The exception might be Gotham, but Gotham is considered a hellhole in the DC universe. Also sometimes DC stories have civilians being jerks for no reason.
It’s one of the reasons why I gravitated towards DC.

Trick arrows, not top the level of box glove arrows but he uses arrows crafted to do something specific other than to kill.

I feel like the sacrifice is worse if your date doesn't know that you're a superhero cause then you're just a person who isn't available all the time.

It's clearly inspired by the anime trope of having bishonen powerful villains but also intersected with western ideas of a villain needing to look older to show they are experienced. So you get the guy who hasn't accepted his twink death.

While I don't agree with all the examples mentioned, I really dislike this very strange new take on Superman that he's a UwU guy who just hugs people. That's not him and has never been, Clark would avoid a fight if you see that you are harming others, but if you don't, you're getting the fist.

I'm not even talking about how he's being used, I'm referring to the literal narration. It doesn't sound like it would come from Darkseid's mouth.
It doesn't feel larger than life, it doesn't feel like the rock the chain the lightning (that's from Glorious Godfrey but you get the idea), it doesn't feel like the tiger-force at the core of all things. No three billion hands.
It feels closer to Damian's retelling of Final Crisis. He's just a little dweeby guy going "my enemies think they got it figured but nuh-uh no one really gets me akshually it's all part of my plan" i can even hear TTG Darkseid's voice.
When Darkseid is telling me his story, I expect it to be more impactful. I'm imagining him doing air quotes when he says victory and it kills the mood.
JonKentOfficial
This narration feels so not Darkseid-esque.

For some reason I laughed at the guy walking away. Poor Jose.
JonKentOfficial
It's a very anime-inspired look.

I don't know, popular to whom? General audiences? Super hero fans? Comic book readers? That would change things a lot. Also, what means popularity, that the character is known or well liked? Cause you need to rearrange that depending on what you have in your mind.
THAT SAID, putting Lex Luthor all the way down is a choice.
JonKentOfficial
They could, that's why.

A world where Superman isn’t needed isn’t a world where there are heroes to help him. A world where Superman isn’t needed is one where he moved enough hearts so that people will help one another and build together, so in every situation there’ll be someone who helps, wearing a cape or not, and instead of war, hate and trying to get your way against at the expense of others, people will act with a spirit of compassion and understanding for each other.

Wait, her name Emilia Isobel Euphemia Rose Clarke ? And I thought I had a long name.
JonKentOfficial
No, Bendis didn't really care about it. Also he wrote The Truth 2 Electric Boogaloo not long after so he really wasn't thinking about it. He gave zero thought to it.
JonKentOfficial
Golden Age Lois would laugh too.
JonKentOfficial
Everything is a weapon if you swing it fast enough.

Superman is a world where Superman isn’t needed. He knows that won’t ever happen in his life time, but he’s always trying to pull it in that direction.

Don’t think the boar was dead.
But in any case, adult Jon flips his entire personality every six months. The not eating animals thing is something that people make Clark believe in too, it’s one of those things that come and go depending on the writer’s belief. Same for Damian.
JonKentOfficial
Of all the writers to not care about Jon’s past, I expect Slott to care the least.
JonKentOfficial
It’d have made more sense if his objection eating animals after spending 6 years butchering and eating animals in a volcano.
JonKentOfficial
I'm pretty sure this is the first one.
It's a bit odd that the tagline is "MASTER STORYTELLER DAN MORA UNVEILS THE DARK REALM OF THE DCU!". I mean, I'm sure he's a master storyteller visually, but as far as I know it's his first proper writer work.

I don’t like it, cause it’s clunky. Truth and Justice was perfect, don’t get why they changed it.
