Yeah swap 1 flamer for a rotor cannon and then pack them in a rhino that has a havok launcher so you’re at least stun (1) instead of 0
Jurassic_Red
It going back to dealing 125 damage has helped it a bit, I’ve used it as a secondary to the 3 slot single shot carbine and have been pretty happy with it as for those close but not too close range fights it can down those missing a chunk. Lack of a shotgun hurts but that’s what the penny shot derringer is for!
Jurassic_Red
What’s the pistol in pic 2? Not one I recognise.
Jurassic_Red
It’s a shame as it was a great resource but most people I know (including me) migrated over to MundaManager some time ago
Jurassic_Red
Bit of a niche one but Brandy (You’re a fine girl) by Looking Glass falls into this as this was their only breakout success and just wasn’t like the rest of their stuff.
Jurassic_Red
Nice! I’ve not really looked at the shattered legion/black shield rules but looks a very thematic list!
Jurassic_Red
Combat vets is a solid pick and what I’d go for. With the arakne the invun is nice but just remember that a medium cover save is also 5+ I still quite like them as there’s a fair few flyers in my local meta and it will make a mess of light tanks.
The arcus is a fun option and while not great at AT it’s got solid all round shooting so it’ll never be hard pressed for a target.
If you were being optimal there are better choices and I’d look to get some better AT in but I think what you have here is still good enough. You’ll do well into most lists and will only struggle in lists with lots of armour but in these cases you should out score your opponent!
Jurassic_Red
Looks solid, AT will be a struggle but you also have so little armour of your own if you come up against something like a melta Kratos you should be able to just ignore it as it won’t have any high value targets to focus on after the sicaran.
In 3rd ed I’ve found that AV14 all round armour is such a break point, you either have it in spades and can handle almost anything your opponent can throw at you or you just can’t deal with it at which point you just try to make sure you can either mitigate it with statuses or just do your best to ignore it and work around it.
Jurassic_Red
If you’ve got spare bodies you could look to the lascannon support squad for more AT.
I have just realised tho, how are you fitting everything into your list? You only get 3 auxiliary detachments and I can’t tell how you’re fitting in the extra elite or dread option.
Jurassic_Red
Corax has the Sire of the Raven Guard rule which means If four or more Troops Battlefield Role Slots in the Primary Detachment of this Army are filled with Tactical Squad Units and/or Assault Squad Units, then all Force Organisation Slots with the Troops Battlefield Role in the Primary Detachment are considered Prime Slots.
It also gives your Army whole army move through cover for T1

Price being main one, you can do a lot with 100-80pts extra
The drill comes with an awesome close range melta shot that can be a nasty surprise for rear AV10 vehicles or even take a chunk out of terminators.
While a power maul is nice and deters nuisance charges tying up the squad, you really don’t want your seekers in combat and even a slightly tooled up dispoiler squad will give them a serious issue (god forbid any terminators gets into them, a single warmonger with maul isn’t gonna do shit against that) so it’s best to just try and keep them away from that.
Also using a vehicle to deepstrike in carries a lot less risk, interceptor fire is not done against your squishy seekers, instead it’s done against the pod/drill and even if they are able to kill it as it turns up you just need to make a pinning check and then there’s no further damage to you.

Honestly I’d take 1 or 2 lascannon castas over a spartan that isn’t offering too much else. You loose 1D per gun, and moving and shooting is a bit more punishing but it’s a fraction of the cost.
It’s also been pointed out to me that you’ve got Corax and only 3 Tac squads. If you include 1 more Tac squad then all of them become prime. I’d spring for just 10 more bodies and forget a rhino for them as you’ll almost certainly have some home field objectives to worry about and can leave that to them and focus the others on the objectives further from your deployment.
Jurassic_Red
Yeah if they wanted the deepstrike they could also just look into a drop pod, or my preferred choice, a terrax drill
Jurassic_Red
What’s going in the Spartan? Have you just taken it for the guns?
Also I’d look to bulk out the vets a bit, 5 man squads are a bit vulnerable and the plasma pistols don’t add much as whatever you shoot will likely just return fire. Personally I’d instead look to combat shields as the shooting you can do with these guys are limited so you may as well look to just max out your melee ability. I’d also give the sarge something better than a spear, a Thammer on sarge and spear on everyone else would be a pretty good choice.
My suggestion is to ditch the Spartan and use those points for other sources of AT. As you’re playing Raven guard long range shooting is very good with your legion trait, lascannon heavy support squads or laser destroyer rapiers are a great option.
2x units of 2 laser destroyers only costs 260 points and is generally much better AT and gives you plenty of pts to then bulk out the vet squads to 8 each with Thammers on the sarges
Jurassic_Red
Hmmm I’d be curious to see how this measures up on a point to pound ratio, but none the less chaos is eating good!
Jurassic_Red
A vexilia is the same cost as those melta bombs and so I’d personally swap to that but yeah that looks a good pair of despoilers! If you can spring for a rhino I’d also reccomend that!
Jurassic_Red
Personally I’d load up on all the power weapons you’re allowed to, it will really help make the difference in fights into power armour
Jurassic_Red
Personally I’d only put a Thammer on a sarge if I was also giving him the master Sargent prime, otherwise it’s just too much of a point investment given the statline.
Two lightning claws are my preferred loadout for a despoiler sarge as the extra attacks really add at a lot. Personally I prefer mauls to axes, as while I think they’re as good as each other overall, the mauls do better specifically into 3+ save units which are you despoilers preferred quarry so I think it’s better to specialise into that rather than mitigating against models with 2+ saves that will usually kick your ass anyway if you encounter them.
Other than that I see the melta bombs and plasma pistol as superfluous and just a bit of a point sink while you generally want to your despoiler squads to be as cheap as possible.
Finally as you’re world eaters I’d 100% go with chain axes over chain swords, the +1S makes a huge difference!
Edit: forgot to mention but I also like a vexilia but only if I have the points spare in the list, every little helps with combat resolution!
Jurassic_Red
Sorry gonna have to disagree with the marine head, it’s just not the right scale, if you can find someone with a 3D printer they may be able to get a scan of one and scale it down but otherwise I think you’ll need to find a different head.
I like the paint scheme you’ve gone for on slide 5 tho, black and yellow is a classic pairing
Jurassic_Red
Maybe, I’ve tried to find the thread to refresh my memory so maybe it just looked worse than it was but I’ve also seen some people tag on it a bit in my local scene till I pointed out why it kinda needed clarification
Jurassic_Red
Yeah I’ve got 2 local scenes that I play heresy with, one that’s embraced 3rd and I’ve done a bunch of narrative events with them like Wendigo and it’s been a great time.
The other flipped their shit when 3rd dropped and a few very vocal people poisoned the well and just killed all interest at the club. The chat had been quite for age and then the other week someone asked if anyone wanted to try 3rd and someone just posted a gif of someone projectile vomiting which pretty much killed the conversation. Which is doubly a shame as people don’t even really play much 1st or 2nd Ed either with most just moving in from the system altogether. I get some people are upset their armies got taken out back a shot (1 person had a SoH drop pod army and the other a NL biker army) but it’s something else altogether to just rag on other people trying to enjoy the system.
Jurassic_Red
I wouldn’t have said so, quite a few comments ragged on that clarification not getting what the FAQ was targeting and instead just complaining about 40K players moving to heresy.
Just don’t go crazy with them! One or two havoks in a list is fine but can be very oppressive when spammed
