So true. Worked at my dad’s small lawn equipment shop years ago when Home Depot crushed the independent guy with cheap lawnmowers. His money came from residential/ commercial repairs not new equipment except for commercial guys. He was the local warranty guy for HD and saw a ton of their crappy Murray mowers with Briggs motors. People just couldn’t understand why the engine was toast after one season and accused my dad of ripping them off. The number of times we heard "that’s a Briggs engine and my daddy had one that lasted 20 years." Briggs was still a good motor but the garbage they built under HD specs was horrid. You could put the recoil spring for the starters side by side and the difference was obvious.

Musk follows the thought that all attention is good so what does he care. Every day people buy his car and use Twitter/X while saying he’s a horrible guy. The money has been spent and clicks made so he gets to say what he wants and the money and attention will still be there. I’d never do either but you hear the response from folks that they don’t like what he says and then use his products. Just like Trump.
