I would say for any household with two vehicles, it is a no brainer to have one as an EV. Why? Because none of the downsides news.com.au says are true. What I would say is do your research. I personally think Tesla is still the best and reasonable value. Research insurance though as it is a bit high. Plenty of savings though and it is a nice car to drive. I look forward to drives now whereas before we got the EV I generally disliked driving completely.

We are about to purchase our second EV as the old V6 Hilux is simply not worth it for us. The fuel consumption is high and the towing benefits are less and less relevant. But the cost to keep it on the road in QLD is roughly $1000 per year, so we will just run it into the ground. Aside from guzzling fuel, it is very reliable.

Just idiots reacting to other idiots who have power. Once the Tesla is purchased, Musk's profit is taken. Aside from a minor service or subscription, Tesla make no further profit. In terms of hurting Tesla's bottom line, I think Elon is already doing a good job.

It is a bit saddening that people take their frustrations out on peoples property. The car is a car. But alas, we are in a world where self righteous makes people think they are invincible!

I haven't heard of many Tesla's having issues with the door latches. The main issues are the glass which can be prone to cracking and battery issues. Notwithstanding, the more basic hardware is fairly easy to source and replace yourself should your vehicle be out of warranty.

FYI Tesla is generally the most profitable auto maker.. even compared to Toyota or Ford. So I would imagine they have done the maths on what works out cheapest and adds the most value to their profit.

Well, you could split the data into multiple columns, then transpose it. Depends how automated you want it to be. It could be done manually pretty quickly, but for large datasets an automated approach could be done.

A really easy solution would be to use Power Query (split column > create multiple queries > append queries > delete duplicates if required)

It used to be fruitful discussion on how to work with the current situation... various approaches and "hacks" to getting ahead.

Slowly, if you showed any sort of wealth you were shat on. Tall poppy syndrome was in high gear, and still is.

Now the discussions seem to centre around speculation of the market, blaming various issues for social issues (like housing) and fairly obvious discussion outcomes like HECS, index funds, real estate etc.

I don't think I have learnt anything useful off this sub in years as a result. Occasionally something nice comes up but the content is just woeful. Indeed, the earlier days were much nicer.

Normally you don’t share the billable hours with clients. From a business perspective, you want accurate costs. So if I were the business owner (and had a clue) I would want people to charge true time, including overruns. As an employee…. Why pass on efficiencies without reward? I can see two sides of the coin.

I mean, the least asshole move is to simply keep your cat on your property. I had a cat visit me twice. Nice cat. No issues with the cat. Except I don’t want a cat visiting. After I dropped it off to the local vet twice I never saw it again. It had a collar so it wasn’t a stray!

I used to. Here is why I don't.

  • Stop watching and reading the news on a daily basis. Once a week max.
  • Don't compare, don't go on Facebook, recognize your show off friends; spoiler, it's all loans and leases.
  • Change jobs. Your only goal is to be paid as much as possible per hour. If someone offered me $1000 an hour to clean toilets I'd do it.
  • Don't plan more than 2 years in advance. Things change too quickly. Project 10-20 years, but don't commit yourself to anything more than 2 years.
  • Don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks. There are a lot of people who don't want you to succeed, and the others project their fears onto you. Run the numbers, do the calcs, do what you want to do.
  • Have a good attitude. Be productive for you. Know that people notice. Create and innovate where you can.
  • Have a good time, take a joke, make a joke, have a laugh.
  • Most importantly, the external reflects the internal. Don't wait, find happiness before anything else. Everything else is easier then.
