I'm willing to pay for postage plus some extra for whatever you want to get rid of

Online bookstore since '98. Currently 15,000 listings. I average 7-10 sales per day on eBay with some days spiking into the 30s and other days at 1 or 2. Average profit per sale is about $4.00.

Lighter fluid won't affect the cover or paper and will dissolve the adhesive without damaging the cover. Apply the lighter fluid to a cotton rag and gently dab the sticky area until it turns translucent. Then, apply more light fluid to the rag and gently rub the adhesive in a circular motion until it is all clean and smooth. Run it again to buff it a little with a dry spot of the rag.

Used bookseller here. The traditional solution/process in the trade is either Bestine solvent (somewhat hard to find) or regular charcoal lighter fluid. It will dissolve the adhesive making it easy to scrape off with a cloth or fingernail and doesn't damage the paper.

This guy wasn't breaking the law. He didn't deserve it. The cop DID break the law, has had to apologize, and is being sued.

This is awesome. We've traveled to both Ohio and Kentucky's trolls and people from all over the world were hiking the trails to see them as well

This is the cheap, functional method to repair a reading copy. It's not as pretty as a rebind but infinitely faster and easier. Use PVA bookbinder's glue if you can get it and use a toothpick for the interior seam glue.

The child that used this gun already did so illegally.

I would presume they are allowed to aggregate staistical data though.

Dealer purchases are still recorded by Federal ATF regardless of WV law.

Kayleighbug

Turns out it is actually only 58.5%. WV seems to have slipped to #5 in the current rankings.

Edit: Not sure how many unregistered firearms this may or may not include.

Mostly the mountains. WV tourism is primarily driven by the incredible scenery, rafting, hiking, ATV trails, etc.

Second to that is Mothman and other cryptid museums, moonshine, and a strong rise in cozy, comfortable downtown districts with nice shops, good eateries, and pleasant, non-judgmental people (despite what political rhetoric may make it seem ).

Tourists outnumber residents in West Virginia. You may lose your catalytic converter but I've never heard of a successful pickpocket here. Of course, 60% of households are armed...

I get legitimate remote job openings in my indeed feed every day that are paying $40/hr+ for major corporations. I don't bother because I already have a remote job that pays better than that that I got from clicking a reddit ad. It's not a pipe dream. It's not easy, either, but they certainly exist and are hiring every day

Kayleighbug

One of my jobs earns 60-75 an hour WFH. 2 hours per day = about $4k per month and I know there are better paid personnel. I got that job from a reddit ad.

The one above is probably still a scam but it's not an insane possibility.

One caveat - the spine of this book got wet at some point which is what caused the discoloration in the page gutters. This is partly to blame for the extremeness of the page fanning - due to swelling of the paper at the spine edge. reshaping and compressing this will bring it back to shape considerably but a thickening of the pages at the spine will remain to a certain extent. It is unlikely you can get this back to completely square. If you measure and cut boards precisely to the size of the covers, reshape it under pressure (mallet & board), heat the glue on the spine some (heat gun or barley pack), and then C-clamp spine and foreedge boards once it is reshaped into the cover boards, your chance of long-term squareness increases but may still be imperfect.

Of course, creasing marks will still remain in the spine. There are ways to restore the book entirely but that kind of preservation work is generally saved for books of extreme rarity.

Kayleighbug

If you really want to put in the time, get two boards that are the same width as the cover of the book. Set the book between them, spine down, on a hard surface. Clamp them lightly with the page ends then cur ing past the top of the boards. Use another small board and a rubber mallet to slowly pound the curve back flat and then clamp it much harder. Leave it like that for several weeks or more. To safeguard the covers a bit more, consider putting wax paper on the inside of the boards against the cover surface.

Except this store doesn't sell cabinets, they sell toys, art pieces, animatronics, etc. and had a price tag on it - not a contact card for the artist or a Not For Sale note, a price tag. Expecting it to be for sale with that information would be a normally very safe assumption, especially in this kind of place. It being mounted or installed is irrelevant if they put a tag on it.

Kayleighbug

This is a complete bullshit argument that I have seen dozens of times in these threads. Most high-end antique and artisan good shops will install things like Tiffany chandeliers as overhead lighting and hang a price tag on it. It absolutely is for sale and would be removed and crated when someone purchased it. Often to be replaced by another stunning piece that would provide the same kind of awe the first one generated and contribute to the overall vibe of the store but was also, absolutely for sale. Hell, even local coffee shops will have their coffee displayed in some beautiful cabinet made by a local artisan with a price tag on the cabinet - where the coffee shop takes a cut of the sale and the artisan brings a similar one to replace it as their display shelving, not has a price tag on it but the price is for one that you could have made that is like it.

Nora Roberts has done quite a bit in Boonsboro, MD - not buying the whole town but several businesses and investing and revitalizing many more in an attempt to create an idealized small town (which is also the setting for one of her book trilogies.)
