The next update is supposed to add Expanded support for playing with friends. It's still not full Expanded, but this will allow online tournaments to play S&M onwards and retro formats.

Ascended Heroes will be remembered as one of the greatest formats of all time. It is a shame that it's competitive season was cut short by production issues.
The strength of GHI was always that the top decks were all very fun and deep, with lots of room for skill expression. The disadvantage was that it was dominated by 3 decks that were clearly above the rest. Ascended Heroes fixed this, primarily through the introduction of Pokepad and N's Zekrom, so the format became much wider while still having the same depth.

Iron Bundle was nice because it was so easily searchable. Pokemon search is much more common than item search. It was also reusable with Super Rod or Night Stretcher.
In the past we also had Escape Rope which was nice because it also doubled as mobility. Repel by itself just does not do enough.
Kered13
Gusting is necessary. Boss is not. I think we would have been fine for a year with Lisa's Appeal and support Pokemon like Hariyama and Dubwool.
We also had cards like Counter Catcher and Cross Switcher in the past and you could build a format around those.

I'd like to see a comparison to the Biden years. I suspect that some of these (FBI, State Department) would be flipped.

In traditional sports betting you are betting against other gamblers. The house just matches the bets against each other (they adjust either the odds or the line until the bets coming in on both sides match), and cannot lose. Modern sports betting I'm sure is different with many of the super specific bets that can be placed where you could never find enough gamblers to form a pool. Though some of the simple bets probably still use the traditional model.
Kered13
Yes. This is a scenario where you don't have to beat the house, you have to beat the crowd. A lot of sports betting is set up in this way.

Counties don't really have a government like that. That's why positions like the sheriff are directly elected. If the county had an executive government to appoint officers, it would be a city.
The state government could do it, but then the officers would not be accountable to the citizens of the county. It's much better to have the officers be directly elected by the people that they will police.
Kered13
In some other anglophone places sheriff has it's original meaning of "the officer of the court" whose duties include courtroom security, prisoner transport, enforcing court orders, summoning juries, and holding auctions to sell property in arrears for taxes, or even hanging condemned prisoners.
That's not the original meaning. Sheriff means shire reeve and they were originally royal officers charged with managing a shire on behalf of the king. Those duties included both law enforcement, tax collection, and others.
Kered13
For example, think about what that could mean in the context of say, the Jim Crow south back in the day where a sheriff that actively pursued people who committed crimes against black residents would probably not last very long.
This is true, but it's not like city police departments were any better. If they'll elect a racist sheriff, they'll elect a racist mayor who will appoint a racist chief of police.
Kered13
No. It will be only the current Expanded pool, which is Sun & Moon on plus a few cards reprinted in 30th.
Kered13
The official remaster is very good if you're into that.
Kered13
It really got shafted. Production problems delayed tournament play for a month, and you couldn't even really play the format on Live because you'd get matched into "muh post-rotation" players running awful decks half the time.
But Ascended Heroes was the format that players had been screaming for for the entire year. Super diverse and balanced.
Kered13
Not a chance.
Kered13
Because people are stupid and have extremely short attention spans. They're always looking for the next thing.
Kered13
This is partly true, but mostly people are just way too distracted by rotation. These same people missed one of the best formats in years (Ascended Heroes) because they were so excited to jump into the Pult meta that they started playing "post-rotation" (not actually because new cards hadn't been released yet) decks weeks before the actual rotation.
Kered13
Not pointless at all. It means that we can play retro formats with friends or in tournaments.
Kered13
Maybe next century.

I understand what Catholics believe, and their beliefs are rooted in tradition that goes back to some of the earliest writings of the Church fathers. But they do not go back to the Bible and indeed contradict the most natural readings of the Bible. There is nothing in the Bible that suggests the perpetual virginity of Mary. The tradition dates back to the 2nd century, which is very early but also long enough after the life of Jesus to be a later mythology.
Kered13
Good question.
Kered13
Mary didn’t have other children.
This is not at all clear from the Bible, as there are characters referred to as the the brothers of Jesus, including Joseph. The Catholic Church has explanations for why these people are called Jesus's brothers that don't involve them being biological brothers, but the most literal reading implies that they are in fact biological brothers, and nowhere in the Bible does it say or imply that Mary remained a virgin for her entire life. This is a belief that was accepted since the fairly early days of Christianity, but it is not Biblically attested.

Now, Sweeny is like that meme of the dude mining diamonds and giving up an inch from his goal, so he wasn't first.
I know the meme, but what is this referring to with respect to Tim Sweeney? What is the history here?
Kered13
The problem with Blaziken is that it's hard to get it into play against other Pults, since you have one Combuskin and can't use Rare Candy. They will often target down your Torchic with their first attack. And it also takes up bench space, so you end up with less space for Kloaks and Munkidori.

There is no Elo that you must achieve. Getting a high Elo is a matter of grinding out a lot of games. The ladder resets too often and there is too much RNG in the game to consistently remain in high Elo without putting in a lot of time.
But good players can achieve 1700 or more if they put the time in. Regional winning players have achieved 2000+ in the past.
Yep, I bought it earlier this year. Online still works too.
