Getting Garmin coach to recognize Tacx workouts (old.reddit.com) [Garmin Coach / DSW / Training]

Would also love a copy if you've not been driven insane yet!

Also if I put my cursor all the way to the edge of my monitor, it's no longer over the content and the scroll wheel doesn't work. The borders really add nothing but take away a lot :/
KermitTheFish
Agreed. HBS put a lot of 'scientific research' into immersive audio and designing fancy new mic arrays, but the end result is often a really flat, boring, white-noise sounding crowd with no dynamics or stereo image.
This World Cup has definitely sounded better than Qatar though IMO
KermitTheFish
Where'd you hear that? The host world feed is just one mixer. Usually one or two folk in the IBC doing quality control etc across all the games but otherwise the ball kicks and crowd FX is all one mix. Commentary is just slapped on by your local broadcaster.
Lots of mixers doing tiny bits is a very US workflow, but the world cup is designed by HBS with workflows more common in the rest of the world.
KermitTheFish
Very rare to pan pitch mics as all sorts of camera angles are used. The only sort of imaging you tend to use on football is all about crowd FX and stadium atmos
KermitTheFish
No, but this year there is much more manual mixing instead of the use of Lawo Kick, with many more British mixers who are used to doing that. The results speak for themselves I think!
KermitTheFish
That's just the Sky setup for Premier League in the UK, in Europe (particularly Bundesliga) they tend to do more comprehensive crowd micing.
World Cup audio is designed by HBS who are very keen on using a ton of arrays which are impractical for one-day-hit league football. Whether or not all those extra arrays actually improve things is open to debate...
KermitTheFish
Lawo Kick is usually used for this, and is more often tied to camera tracking systems rather than GPS. That ball tracking already exists for stats and VAR systems anyway.
This year as most US trucks are Calrec-based, most games are just mixed manually which is more typical in the UK.

Been looking at this too as an upgrade to my current portable unit - is the compressor (the noise bit) definitely in the outside unit? Hard to actually confirm from listings
KermitTheFish
This isn't quite true any more, some teams use MRTC who use ClearCom hardware. McLaren, Williams, and one or two others I think. Even the Riedel teams use different hardware with only some teams using the latest audio over IP panels and frames.
There's also a fair amount of skill in setting up these systems properly, and some teams get their gain structure set just that little bit better than others even with identical hardware.

I don't think many people disagree, but what should the repercussions be and how would they be enforced?
A road safety campaign for cyclists wouldn't be bad thing, but given the number of deaths caused by bad driving vs those caused by bad cycling, where do you think the money should be most urgently spent?
Pedestrians cross on red lights all the time but nobody's lining up to angrily educate them, it's been a long time since look listen live.
KermitTheFish
It's called a barndoor, they're used to adjust the shape of the throw on stage lights.
KermitTheFish
Should we fine pedestrians crossing on a red man?
KermitTheFish
If I win I'll just eat $50k worth of beyond burgers

student visa's
And the fact that correct apostrophe usage still eludes native speakers suggests that the bar probably doesn't need to be that high.

Finally a stock app came to the UK in about 2019
Huh? We've had trading apps in the UK for years, HL came to market in like 2010 and plenty of others besides.
Glad you figured it out in the end but you've missed out on a lot of investing!
KermitTheFish
A whoop band, basically - something small and without a screen to maintain my metrics and track workouts on days I want to wear a nice watch or no watch at all.
It would be a great way to get some more money out of existing garmin owners before their next upgrade cycle.
KermitTheFish
What area do you live in? Let's see if we can find some stats shall we?
KermitTheFish
Yep, it's the Tacx neo bike. I'm using the tablet Tacx app which pulls the suggested workouts from Connect, but I'll try starting the workout on the watch instead.
Unfortunately means I won't be able to do virtual rides with video on the app which would suck given the price :/

Did you read the article?
First paragraph:
Britain has thwarted the launch of Tesla’s self-driving car software, limiting key features and further risking the ire of Elon Musk.
Which version of 'frustrate' do you think they meant, given the context of the rest of the writing?
KermitTheFish
Fenix 3 HR - still working and still gets good battery life!

O2 venues are owned by AEG who are nothing to do with Ticketmaster. They own AXS ticketing, but don't usually have exclusive ticket deals at their venues.
AEG aren't great, but they're not a ticketing monopoly.
Crowd mics get panned all over the place, just not the pitch mics that are there to pick up the ball kick sounds.
Generally in any sport you want those sorts of effects to be coming from in front of the viewer, as people would experience it if they were in the stadium.
