Almost certainly temperature calibration issues or the filament itself, I don't get any stringing at all apart from when the print finishes. It is worth spending the two hours it takes to dial in filament calibration within the slicer whenever you use a new product line.

What the other commenters said but mine are accredited investor funds and stuff on the blockchain.

You basically summarised my finances. 30% in stocks 50/50 US/SG, 70% in short term debt and relatively liquid funds providing a stable base income. I'd rather err toward protecting capital than risk becoming a grab driver.

I have a P1S and I don't use it anymore. The only quality difference in single filament prints is that the Bambu has less VFAs, most of it is mitigated on the U1 by printing walls at 215mm/s.

I had always used vanilla Orca and used the P1S in LAN mode. The interface for controlling the U1 is much nicer and my workflow is definitely improved. The P1S is also too much of an oven compared to the U1 to let prints passively cool, I always accidentally left the build plate out and threatened to clog the nozzle due to the lack of plate detection.

$10.10 a month for worldwide roaming, and the connection actually works in SG.

My feeling is that if it were as high potential as the article claims and easy to implement we would have expedited the studies and be quickly moving forward with implementation.

The most promising Sembawang Hot Springs site having usable power less than 2km from the surface is alright, but this latest article doesn't give any specifics, with "several" kilometers probably meaning a billion dollars per generation site and not much power. The "60 times annual electricity consumption" probably summed up potentials for all exploratory wells without any regard to cost.

KeythKatz

Why not just use vanilla Orca or fork it so you can merge features back upstream?

KeythKatz

Do it! My P1S has sat idle since I got my U1, the minor loss in quality (noticeably more VFAs but that's it) was more than made up for with additional colours.

KeythKatz

Yep, and you expanded on it well. H for engineering. P and X have cheaper or better alternatives. Did not need to be combative in your comment.

KeythKatz

Okay, so you agree with me. If you've read my comment closely and looked at the rest of the comment chain you'll be able to infer everything you just said.

  • Search literacy has fallen off a cliff. They do not know how to search using keywords. They type full conversational questions into Google as if speaking to Siri, and if the answer isn't summarized in the AI box at the very top of the page, they assume the information does not exist on the internet.

I'm a computer science graduate and engineer. This isn't a problem. If the information isn't there, open up the full Gemini app and ask the flash model. If there still isn't anything useful, there weren't any results. It's rare nowadays but I've found topics and information where I have the real answer, there are legitimately 0 search results, and Gemini will say it can't find anything.

There was a time period overlap where knowing how to search properly was a skill and AI summaries weren't good enough yet, but that time is over. What used to be skill relegated to the domain of tech wizards is now transferred to AI, they're more than capable of extracting the real meaning behind your question and go through the searches required to get to the answer.

A few hours of searching and reading through forums to fix an obscure problem with my car turned into 30 seconds of waiting for Gemini Flash to return a response. Things I've wanted to understand for many years but never knew the exact search terms to get into useful pages are now a simple query.

Welcome to the prosumer category! You still needed to buy and set up third party equipment to make it work. Most enclosed printers print just fine with an additional heater, but they differ in power used to maintain chamber temperature. The H2D still has no competitor, with an integrated heater and dual nozzles for support interfaces. For someone that prints engineering parts for a living, there's currently no better option than Bambu's H line and that's a shame.

KeythKatz

Hello Claude!

Since you went through the trouble to get AI to visualise all that, could you summarise it in a paragraph or two? It's not at all clear what the app is trying to say and from the comments, nobody else does too.

Heat transfer onto a tee?

CMYKW + support interface + TPU(s) for full spectrum multicolour multimaterial prints.

KeythKatz

Bambu still can't be beat for printing engineering filaments because of superior insulation and cosmetic build quality but for the average bambubu there are cheaper printers and for the prosumer there are better printers for the price. Apart from engineering filaments, they aren't doing special.

KeythKatz

We don't process anything "recycled" locally btw, all gets shipped out to get burnt in some other country we don't care about. Singapore is just one giant BCRS collection point.

Not very hard assuming you know how to design stuff and connect wires. I have a SAMLA mounted on a custom base/adapter that keeps it in place and has an air outlet at the back where the extra length of the box overhangs. This overhang mounts a filter box housing a generic activated carbon and HEPA filter from a air purifier, and a 24V Noctua industrialppc fan directly in front. The wiring for the fan goes through an access hole back to the 6 pin slot in the back and I have full control from the UI and slicer.

I then reversed the direction of the PSU fan to make it an intake, and also printed a new PSU cover to blow air toward the drivers. My drivers run at 78C and the cavity stays around 42C while printing PETG at 80C bed temp. There is full negative pressure in the build chamber so I don't breathe in any of the printing fumes.

What's with specifically beng-archetype millenial men's obsession with bearbrick? Lian equivalent being labubu.

Red Dot is to design roughly what Michelin is to restaurants.

More like Forbes 30 under 30. Pay $$$

If data sovereignty were the only issue then that's an easy fix for Starlink, but it's not. Musk and co have shown too much willingness to turn on and off coverage at will, and that's not something that ASTS just being in a JV solves. While ASTS is much more friendly, coverage can similarly be turned on and off by orange people in coloured houses. The EU may be alright with the current arrangement now, but they will one day want their own constellation.

That constellation would most likely simply be additional BlueBirds under different ownership and may also contribute to global coverage during peacetime, but all speculation is probably at least 10 years out. The main point is that the EU needs to actually own their own satellites independent from US control.

KeythKatz

It does though since it's controlled by the slicer, the nightly version of vanilla Orca even supports different quality settings per nozzle in the same print. The printer doesn't care or know what nozzle you're using while printing.

KeythKatz

If you label your toolheads and put them in the same position and same config (i.e. T1T2T3T4 and T5T6T7T8 or T1T5T6T7), you only need to run calibration once per configuration and duplicate the file. Then when you swap toolheads, just rename the appropriate file to snapmaker/extruder_base_position.json.

KeythKatz

They do, they get Chinese models from their vendors. The Chinese option is increasingly used as the cost-effective option. The problem isn't the model itself but where it's hosted.

KeythKatz

Even self hosted models are now sufficiently capable that there's no world without AI in the future, and AI has a virtuous cycle that the more advanced models get, the more demand there is for them. Infrastructure demand will be fine.
