I hear you on this, and I don't believe you are overthinking. I think you were fortunate in choosing a premiere modern choice for a "solo first" RPG.

There is a lot of meandering, "failure to launch", and "arrested development", that I can see, in my own experience and elsewhere, with newcomers to solo TTRPG. But your first choice was a strong one, reportedly.

Instead of Mork Borg and Mythic Bastionland, you might want to look at other "solo first" TTRPG. If Mork Borg interests you, maybe "Machine Gods of the Noxian Expanse" would fit. In general, any Alex T product is a good "solo first" recommendation.

If it helps, I am rounding out the month of Oct. with Mothership, having had good experiences with one of their solo modules, "Thousand Empty Light", and with a procedural module, "This Ship is a Tomb". FWIW, I am only allowing myself such a lengthy response, because I have Astroprisma scheduled for November.

Let's focus on spoilers in the title, then. I know of at least one other sports subreddit that doesn't allow it. (I watch two sports...)

Touting this space as a place where this topic is discussed in real-time, while suggesting the community avoids it on game days...does not add up.

KingEllis

How does this subreddit feel about these spoilers in the headlines posts? I don't like them. There were 5 matches that all started at noon that I want to watch. I happened to watch and enjoy this one, so it wasn't spoiled for me, but I imagine it was for a bunch of other people.

KingEllis

Me, neither. A link would be nice.

KingEllis

I played a handful. I found an uncurated list of ~700 items difficult to navigate. So I began an effort to develop tools to help interested parties work through the list, or at least find what interests them. I'll probably develop the ideas and tools further in preparation of next year's jam.

KingEllis

So true. The "also under consideration ..." team just reverse swept #2. Witnessed!

KingEllis

Ya'll are in the wrong thread...

KingEllis

The 1920s is the default for a reason

For the uninitiated, what is that reason?

KingEllis

Now how will the coalition coalesce?

KingEllis

In the "Second Edition Core Rulebook", there is a sufficiently complicated spaceship combat example on page 313. Here you can see turns alternate between ships. (That most of the actions involve bonuses to extend their turn either clarifies, or muddies, the issue.)

"The action passes back to the Lakota."

KingEllis

I will admit to not using this platform, but where are they getting "99% hate posts" from? 6M viewed it, 6K commented on it (that to me, is probably the story), 44K hearted it (way larger that 6K...).

Are there any numbers present here where a rational person can see 99 percent "hate posts" out of any of this?

KingEllis

That's an odd working definition of "privately says"...

KingEllis

I am from the future. Thank you for this post. As a new player of Mothership, I found it really frustrating that the icon key for Another Bug Hunt is actually in the Shipbreaker's Toolkit...

KingEllis

I'm starting Mothership, working through the official "tutorial" module currently. Amazon messed up my Last Girl (Starter Set) shipment, so that will have to happen later in the month.

KingEllis

I have not read through it yet, but I bought the Last Unicorn Games holodeck module (and the Section 31 one, FWIW). Honestly, it feels like a missed opportunity those two threads NOT being available in a Star Trek RPG. (Unless this does exist for STA: does it?)

KingEllis

Yes for Knope!

KingEllis

:looks back: "Nope, it's cat time!"

KingEllis

TFT is never defined. "The Fantasy Trip"?

KingEllis

Seriously, not really "details" as much as "a detail" (that it was for cause).

KingEllis

I think it is a GOOD idea.

KingEllis

Neither SMU nor Rice's volleyball schedule pages have this game listed with a watch option. Not listed on ESPN+, etc.

KingEllis

Am I missing an option that would allow you to search by tag, genre, or really anything other than "popularity"? I like the idea of a random selection, and it excludes ones already rated. But I would want to skip anything non-solo, nothing in the fantasy genre, not interested in journaling, etc. So what are my options: give the random selection a low rating, which harms discoverability for the author? Give it a high rating, and similarly pollute the rating system?

The simplest idea I can think of to solve this would be to add a "skip" option to the rating system. Otherwise, this can not be easily navigated.

EDIT: you can get the complete list in JSON format here. At minimum, I'll create and maintain a local spreadsheet to navigate this list.

KingEllis

That was so fun, I didn't even notice. I was impressed by the vocal energy from that tiny ass crowd, and from both benches. I thought it was great.

KingEllis

I don't believe it is out yet. I certainly can't find it (as a non-backer).

KingEllis

I appreciate our collective legwork here.

FWIW: I own TOS cover, which would be ISBN 978-1-80281-074-5, and the affected tables are identical in both the print and PDF.

From best I can tell from this thread, the Disco and DS9 have the disparity, the TOS does not. Bizarre...
