This sounds more like a middle school than the fictional work place you describe. YTA for posting this "totally real scenario"

Clearly the kids stole your food and blamed it on the sub.

This is the aftermath of the first few rounds of a well matched regional game of Risk.

Oh, my nerd reaction was "OMG SAUCER LANDING! THEY TALKED ABOUT THAT IN THE STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION TECHNICAL MANUAL!" (Then I went on to mentally compare the two... the manual had the saucer scan the landing area when higher in the atmosphere, and then turn back before skidding along the ground it just quickly surveyed.)

It gets cold as you rise through the troposphere.
it warms back up as you rise through the stratosphere. Ozone a major reason.
mesosphere is where is gets to be the absolute coldest part of our atmosphere.
thermosphere... on the edge of space and technically the temperature soars but it is so rarified up there it doesn't transfer nearly as much heat.
We know very little of the person you are referring to, and couldn't possibly have an informed opinion. This is not a supportive inquiry... this is meant to tear someone down and prove you are right that they "can't."
