Reverting damage would mean increasing her lethality, which was what the rework was meant to address in the first place

This is simply not true. Sombra was not and has never been a particularly lethal hero in her role and that's including was when she had a much more damage forward kit. She has historically fallen behind other dps when it comes to damage output and kill pressure. The rework was meant to address the pain points of Hack and Stealth in combination being "annoying" for players to deal with while Sombra herself not feeling impactful as a dps because of how her numbers had to be kept in check because of the presence of Stealth and Hack. The recurring major complaint about Sombra has not ever been that she does too much damage.

Knightgee

Another nerf to how long Doctrine's ult effect lingers on enemy players.

Another Sombra nerf.

Kiri buff(s).

Bap buff that still doesn't improve his pickrate.

Illari buff that they will partially or fully walk back by next season.

Knightgee

Bold to assume the average gamer would ever admit to being wrong, or let being wrong get in the way of them whining about a hero.

Knightgee

People expressing their dislike or criticism of something on a forum--even to the point of excess--shouldn't bother you this much and if it does, that's entirely *your* problem to manage and no one else's. No one is forcing you to click any of those posts.

Knightgee

She's still strong, it's just that the overall experience of playing her has been made less enjoyable because whether or not you can do anything feels entirely dependent on if Cyberspace is up or not. Otherwise you're just managing Hotfix charges and lightly tickling the enemy from an off-angle. They made it a point to say with this rework that flanking Sombra was still something they wanted you to do, but this iteration post-nerfs feels like that's not really what you should be doing outside of coordinated dives because you deal like no damage on your own and you're piss-easy to clear and even kill if people have any kind of awareness and game sense.

Knightgee

My issue with the HP buff is it feels inconsistent with the explanation they've given for why heroes like Kiri were dropped to 225 HP in the first place: they had high mobility and hitboxes that made them harder to hit. All those things are still true for Kiri, so why buff her HP to 250 instead of reverting some of the nerfs that were directly responsible for the parts of her kit that are underperforming currently? It further makes the 225/250 distinction seem entirely made up and based on vibes more than anything concrete.

Knightgee

Right? This is a lot of yapping over a hero they insist is boring.

Knightgee

I would unironically prefer Cyberspace to be weaker in its effect while allowing the rest of her kit to remain more valuable than to have the rest of her kit neutered to justify the strength of a single ability on a long CD.

Like this is just gonna devolve into old Sombra where you felt like you were hitting them with nerf darts unless you had Hack and Virus to engage with except worse because those abilites were at least on low-ish cooldowns.

Knightgee

People here still played Sombra when she had an abysmal winrate for over a year, it's not about wanting her to be strong, it's constantly having elements of what makes her fun or unique to play get stripped away with reworks that just end up getting rapidly nerfed anyway. We've done this exact song and dance like 4 times and it always goes the same way.

Knightgee

Calling it now: They're gonna eventually force her kit into a state where she is near-useless to the team while Cyberspace is on CD, make her miserable to play as anything besides a healbot in exchange for a single impactful ability and she will STILL be hated and banned.

Knightgee

The thing is this solves nothing because the core effect is unchanged, so people are still going to hate getting Cyberspaced out of stealth and losing half their outgoing healing and damage, which is still incredibly strong. So they're just going to do what they did with dps Sombra: keep making her gameplay loop increasingly more difficult to pull off against anyone with braincells until you eventually begin to wonder why you'd play a hero who has to work twice as hard as others in her role for half the value yet is still hated.

Knightgee

I don't know of this is a bug or not, but sometimes I will be trying to Hotfix an ally and I'll be holding down the button and it won't go off even though I'm in range and looking at the ally with an available charge of Hotfix. Or it does but it takes a weirdly long time for the game to like...register that there's a target in range who Hotfix can apply to. It doesn't seem to have this problem at all when you're holding down the button trying to hack a healthpack, it only seems to happen with other players.

Knightgee

"dps that can heal" Yeah like they said: a Support.

Knightgee

It would incentivize instalockers to play tank

We've already seen how this plays out in other games and this simply does not happen. Overwatch even introduced a reward system that gave you queue priority tickets for queueing Flex (aka Tank 90% of the time), but it had no real impact on the lack of people wanting to play tank or the queue times. No amount of incentives will make people want to play a role they don't want to play.

Knightgee

The biggest problem with role queue people have often isn't even preventing non-traditional team comps, it's that queue times jump for everyone queueing for support and dps because the game doesn't have enough tank players to match them with, so you can either have quick open queue times but get stuck with 4 dps and 2 supports or you can have role queue gaurantee you get 2 tanks, but it takes 3-5x as long to find a match.

Knightgee

Cyberspace clearly represents a power spike that they want to exist in her kit similar to a well-timed anti-nade or Suzu. Because of this I think they'll mostly nerf around it by adjusting other elements of her kit while preserving the strength of that ability, because they want teams to have to play with Cyberspace in mind, no different than having to play around/bait out other extremely impactful Support CDs. But a problem might be that it makes the overall experience of playing her worse because her kit will catch nerfs to justify Cyberspace staying strong and so her viability at any given moment will be determined by whether Cyberspace is on CD or not. Worst-case scenario she becomes like current Kiri who is pretty much played only for Suzu and Rush.

Knightgee

I assume she got EMP'd and fell off the map, which even if EMP isn't the reason she fell, if she was EMP'd while it happened it still gets credited to "hack" I believe. Hacking someone who was already gonna die to falling off the map used to be a funny way to steal kill credit (and get some ult charge).

Also WHAT is going on with these comments?

Knightgee

I like the idea of a support who mostly plays around a healing deployable but otherwise focuses on dpsing and I think her ult is neat, easily one of the most satisfying in the game to pop off with, but after numerous nerfs to her kit, there is just nothing Illari does that other supports can't also do just as well if not better while providing more utility/consistency.

Knightgee

Her damage is more or less the same as before if not a little lower. Cyberspace allows her to sustain through fights she previously wouldn't have been able to survive, so she has more opportunities to do damage than before.

Knightgee

Because the other 99.9999% of the playerbase are lemmings who try to copy pro-play despite not being anywhere as good.

Knightgee

I would gladly lose the extra second of stealth if it meant a second off of the translocator cooldown, especially since I'm usually in position to do what I want/need to do before stealth is anywhere near done anyway. This is why I've always disliked tying the two together.

Knightgee

I get that it can be uncomfortable and even annoying to encounter constant negativity, but it's not actually causing you or anyone any harm, and claiming players of a hero shouldn't have the space to vent, complain, or just be sad about a pretty substantial change to them on their own hero's sub is not only ridiculous, but also infinitely nastier than any of the negativity here.

Knightgee

Tbf even as DPS she was also good at protecting her Supports, most people just didn't play her that way unless they were trying to counter the enemy Sombra.

Knightgee

It's funny because her old problem was she folded like paper if you just turned and fought her even if she used every other cooldown optimally and correctly, so she always had to disengage fast. But now a single cooldown allows her (and her allies) to just tank most things, so she went from being a gnat buzzing around ineffectively but annoyingly in your backline to being able to 1v1 your frontline and contest space as if she were a 2nd tank.

Knightgee

I agree, I do think she's strong currently. Doctrine is also strong so it isn't helping matters, but I also just think she's strong on her own. I do think she has a bit of a learning curve relative to the Support role though and lot of people haven't learned to maximize what she can do, hence why some people are like "this doesn't seem that OP" and others are like "she's busted wtf?!"
