Rum truffles. I buy them every year as they are seasonal, and Iceland has some super nice ones on sale. :D

I've been using Arch for going on 4 years, had one Kernel Panic, which was my fault, and one time when I was starting out, I deleted system files by complete accident/lack of knowledge, and had to reinstall. Other than that, so long as you use common sense, it should be fine.

KoneCat

Well no shit? I'm sorry, but anyone with even a tiny bit of knowledge of how the internet works could have told them that.

Edit: So they are doubling down? Why does this not surprise me at this point.

KoneCat

It's how it is being used that always makes me think. You just know that there are execs thinking they can cut a lot of money off the bill for games, but that will never be seen on the box price. That, and I really don't want to see good artists and VA's getting screwed, which you just know will happen, or maybe even is already? I genuinely hope that it doesn't, but then I'm not a game developer, so whatever I think is basically layman's talk.

KoneCat

It looks like bad cel-shading!

Valve has done a lot, and I do mean a lot for PC gaming. They introduced far more protections for players, they created Proton along with Codeweavers which allows many, myself included, to play PC games easily on Linux, they have been working with Nvidia to try and engineer drivers that actually work on Linux, they have excellent customer service... I could go on. They earned the reputation they have and the support they get, Tim. All you have done is bitch, moan and groan about things that are helping keep buyers informed.

If he spent as much effort actually trying to make things better on his side of the proverbial fence instead of constantly attacking Valve, then he would likely be in a much better position.

I did read the article after you mentioned it, and I do appreciate that. It does make it look like sabre rattling on North Korean side of this war. I know a bit about how, why and what they do, and I understand why they would do this as it's literally just a defense tactic, like two dogs barking at each other through a fence.

The whole situation there is not only sad, it's horrific what the poor citizens are going through under the thumb of their 'leader'. It's like watching a sick pantomime play out, but they are literally dying of starvation while their 'supreme' leader likely lives like a king.

Not the place for my rambling, but it does fascinate me in a morbid way, as it's just bizarre,

KoneCat

Oh my tech-gods he is so darn cute! :D

KoneCat

Deadly action has never looked so cute! :D

Head-crashing, which means the hard drive is very likely dead. If you do go about replacing it, be very careful to not lose the caddy, as if it's anything like my Toshiba's, it will have a very proprietary caddy, and they are a massive pain to find.

True, I loved the Mass Effect Trilogy, and the world building was excellent, especially as they built it from the ground up. It's a shame that it has to go the way of the dodo as it still has so much potential. EA being the way they are, though are very unlikely to part with the franchise and will very likely do nothing with it, as they have with countless other franchises.

It's annoying as I've seen a lot of very promising, and even storied, franchises from those working under EA get closed, and EA will just sit on the license and not doing anything with it.

KoneCat

That's true. I did post about in my OP, but it's worth mentioning again as it works perfectly. :D

KoneCat

I just... are they intercontinental howitzers? That is probably one of the worst, weirdest threats I've seen in a while. And if he thinks he can get to the US to use them, then he is even more deluded than anyone thought possible.

KoneCat

You would think common sense would be... well, common. Evidently not in this case.

KoneCat

It annoys me how wonky that system is, and this is okay, but someone uttering the word 'murder' or 'coke' is censored to the shadow dimension.

KoneCat

If you don't mind modding, then you can install the excellent Paarthurnax Dilemma. There's 70k endorsements on the mod if you were a bit worried about using it. It will stop achievements from working, but you can mod around that as well. I really dislike her, though, so I just ignored her as much as I could.

Most distros have a live environment, so you can get the lay of the land so to say. If I were to recommend anything, it would be to look around. It took me months to finally land on my favourite (Arch) and even longer to get completely used to it, but that's just me. I've tested almost every distro you can think of, even some of the more obscure ones, and it was worth doing in my case as I'm super curious and love trying new stuff.

As for my personal preferences:

Gaming: CachyOS (perhaps Garuda as well, which is also a great OS overall with a lot of versions for varying hardware)

As for anything else, Ubuntu is great for beginners, Fedora is surprisingly easy to get into, at least in my experience. There are others, like Gentoo, which I would not recommend to a new user, but other than that it's all pretty straightforward.

Mileage will most definitely vary, though.

KoneCat

Oh my tech-god he is so darn FLUFFY! :D

KoneCat

I love how they are obviously up to something, and looking super cute while doing it! :D

You know that saying where they ask 'Do you even hear what you are saying?'? Well, Trump is that saying, but he's also a complete jackass. How he is the leader of one of the strongest nations on earth will never be normal to me, and he has caused issues around the world... he reminds me of a foul-mouthed version of Regan, but with more cognitive issues which I never thought was possible.

KoneCat

I've said this before: Tim, customers deserve to know things like this. It's not up for debate as customers are well within their rights to ask if these things are being used. It's a literal part of consumer protection, and no amount of crying is going to stop the fact that we deserve to know.

KoneCat

Seeing as I do a lot more than just game on mine, I'd say the value to me is far outweighing anything a console could. My bedroom PC has a 5800X, 32GB 3200Mhz RAM and a 6900XT, which I built quite a few years back now, and it still runs everything I can throw at it. If I were to build something similar now, it would be hard to justify the cost, but still, it's a good system that has served me super well.

KoneCat

:o

I've only recently started playing, so this is really nice to know. Thanks! :D

KoneCat

Floofy Protato! :D

KoneCat

Does Waterfox count? If so, then it's just peace of mind, the lack of anything Google, and just how reliable it is to me. I do use Arch as well, so I'm pretty privacy focused as it is, and Waterfox being a Firefox derivative just makes it perfect for me. :D
