You don’t have to be from the riding you intend to run in. You just have to live there AFTER you get elected. Bradford could be paoched to run in a Toronto proper or GTA riding. He won’t run in BEY.

For the record, I wrote this in another post. I think Bradford is most likely going to get offered a private sector job and stay there for a few years. I think he’s likelier to be poached to run for a federal seat, because he fits in nicely with Poilievre’s CPC.
People keep assuming he’s going for a PC leadership run after Ford, but I don’t think that will happen, or result in him winning the leadership because establishment politics won’t allow for it. The PC establishment post Ford will still have his people woven into the party and they’ll seek out someone THEY want to lead them, and it’s not Bradford because they don’t think he’s a “real” conservative. They won’t even ask him to run as a candidate. For Bradford to even stand a chance, he will need to assemble a powerful machine to overtake the PC establishment.
As for the previous comment, it wasn’t too serious, but the OLP is run by idiots who keep trying to run a right-leaning candidate, like Crombie, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to poach Bradford for a future race. Yes, that’s far away from now, but so is everything else everyone is speculating on.
He’s for sure going to be in the political wilderness for a few years, though, in a nice cushy job.

I don’t know about that. Ford’s people like Kouvalis and Teneycke have a firm grip on the party. They’ll still have influence even if Ford is gone, and will support who they want as Ford’s successor. This also doesn’t factor in another ambitious challenger already in the PC party.
Could Bradford run to take over the PCs? He can. But Ford’s people will give him a very hard time.
KvotheG
Who else is there? Not Chris Alexander. Until some other formidable right-wing challenger emerges in the next 4 years, Bradford will be the candidate. That’s also if he doesn’t jump into some other political position in that time.
KvotheG
You assume I was talking about this nomination. I wasn’t. I have little faith the OLP will turn things around with Bains or Fairclough.
KvotheG
I wonder if Crombie resents the group of establishment Liberals who pushed her to run for OLP leader. She would probably still be Mississauga mayor to this day.
Honestly, Tom Allison needs to be ostracized from the OLP. He’s holding the party back. The writing has been on the wall that he doesn’t know how to win elections, and Crombie’s comments just vindicated every partisan Liberal who had an issue with her.

Politics is nuanced. Not black and white.
The Trudeau Liberals introduced some of the most progressive policy in the history of the country. However, voters became fatigued, and after covid and a crap economy, people wanted change.
Poilievre was going to become Prime Minister according to the polls, until he refused to denounce Trump. Despite all that, the mood of the country still wanted change. Carney was able to bring back centrist voters who left the LPC due to feeling that Trudeau took them too far left. And Carney was able to appeal to moderate conservatives, including conservatives loyal to Canada.
The LPC is still polling high in the country. I have my issues with Carney, such as his environmental policies. But I recognize that he has broad appeal. What is the NDP offering to counter that? Avi Lewis seems to be taking his time.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the OLP establishment pushes for this. The party is run by out of touch old farts.
KvotheG
The New Leaf Liberals are the future of the OLP. The old guard establishment just needs to get out of the way first.
KvotheG
The BC Liberals were liberal in name only. They stopped being affiliated with the federal liberals decades ago, and became more conservative after the Social Credit party imploded, as that’s where their membership flocked to. It’s why they changed their name to “BC United” so people would stop associating them with the federal LPC.
KvotheG
Boomers won’t allow an NDP government. Voter turnout needs to be significant with younger demographics for that to happen.
KvotheG
I didn’t say Bradford would run for leader. I meant he is likely to be poached to run for a federal seat. Bradford fits in nicely in Poilievre’s CPC

I think this is Olivia’s last term. I don’t really see her trying for mayor again. This campaign seemed draining for her.
Anyways, I’m sure she will influence a hand picked successor to run for Mayor. My money is on Nathaniel Erskine-Smith.
KvotheG
Doug Ford and his circle hate Bradford. They don’t consider him a “real” conservative. They won’t let him near provincial politics. Federal politics is a different story.
KvotheG
Some powerful or wealthy backer of his is going to give him a cushy job in the private sector. They all bounce back post-politics.
Will he run for politics again? I wouldn’t underestimate this result. He was a strong challenger to an incumbent mayor. Even John Tory didn’t have this level of a challenge.
Bradford being in the political wilderness for a few years could just embolden him to run for mayor again, or politics in general. We don’t know the future. Bradford could become the political leader for whatever the moment demands in a future election, and win. Or not.
But Bradford Bradford is definitely not done.
KvotheG
It’s quite the gamble. Crombie better hope she becomes mayor tonight for the payoff to be worth it. Otherwise, she basically just blacklisted herself from future OLP or LPC events. You have John Fraser denouncing her comments, and that’s a big deal.
KvotheG
I had my issues with Crombie as OLP leader. But this statement is a slap to the face to her supporters, for every volunteer that door knocked for her during the last election, and for every partisan OLP member who still loves to defend her among her biggest critics.
To disavow the party you lead, even if it’s for political gain now that you are trying to get your old job back, is bad politics.
BUT, if what she is saying is completely true, then the old guard OLP establishment has a lot of explaining to do to the grassroots, because they keep trying to shove down our throats the kind of leader THEY want. If you’re a Progressive Liberal and felt alienated during the Crombie era by her and her supporters, you aren’t crazy. It was by design.

Waste of space. Just mention the city and province.
KvotheG
Bradford wins if voter turnout is terrible. Chow wins if voter turnout exceeds expectations. Literally, anyone can become Toronto mayor tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how people vote.
KvotheG
I didn’t read all that.
But even before AI, Google is a thing. You should have done your research about TMU.
Just graduate and get out..

You’re right. I am prejudiced, towards those who pander to the maga types with the culture war BS. Which Tate has made his whole personality being anti “woke”.

No I believe her. About a month ago, I order a sausage and egg breakfast sandwhich in the app. When I got home, my sandwich did not have a sausage patty. I reported it on the app and Time gave me a ton of points. But there is a serious quality control problems between Tims Locations.

Something I noticed about this subreddit. There are those that LOVE Tim Hortons. And those that HATE Tim Hortons. No in between. And it’s interesting seeing people still defend Tim’s because it’s their favourite place.
Poilievre conservatives, or just MAGA or far right conservatives, call Doug Ford a “liberal” for not being as radical as them. Doug Ford conservatives don’t like Bradford for cozying up too closely to political rivals, particularly the Liberals, while saying different things in public. Regardless, the Canadian right wing has a history of eating their own.
