I enjoyed reading your responses in the thread, you sound like someone who isn't too tech savvy so basically my parents and I love it, made me laugh a lot.
LarryReadIt_
make a new post! Tell him he's great from one stranger to another, I hope you all are doing well!
LarryReadIt_
this was a good laugh, thank you u/Bumbum2k1
LarryReadIt_
Dang, too bad im a brother in the trade and you only want a woman to reply. Good luck bud! Welcome to the best worst decision you've made to this day!
LarryReadIt_
UBER, I vote for you ubering. Im an asshole, I know.
LarryReadIt_
im sorry but not many people care. I get it its the "nice thing to do" but lets face it, most people care about themselves and none other. I personally would offer my seat, I generally do to old people, kids and women (simply because of how I was raised) I hold doors open for all and thank people for all, this is just to say im somewhat a well mannered person BUT if its as difficult and uncomfortable as you say it is.. uber/ taxi is always an option. Im sorry but it is public transportation so either ask or simply uber, dont expect anyone to give something out of "the own kindness of their heart" because we've lost tons of that.

If you have a steward on the job have them reach out to the hall to report the violation. Document all the times you skipped or were denied a break, the time you started work and left the job. Your local can and should help you all file for a grievance with the contractor.

Could this CEO possibly be on board with r/OEWork?
LarryReadIt_
There should be backpay and wth are you all doing working thru your breaks AND leaving as if you took all your breaks?! You're breaking conditions with that one.
LarryReadIt_
ah, im gonna have to steal that idea. Im ordering a binder right now and loading it up with a bunch.
LarryReadIt_
fuck yeah. Funny seeing you out here, I was at the meeting myself and man was it a good turn out. I didnt think we'd have that many brothers and sisters show up.
LarryReadIt_
haha I love the "local 474 spouse" my gf always finds stickers with her coworkers or people she sees with any IBEW merch on and asks for stickers on my behalf.
LarryReadIt_
thank your parents/ family for making this possible. Smart move for setting you up early in life
LarryReadIt_
what LU are you out of though? what's your guys' base rate out there? Its $62 here
LarryReadIt_
LMAO, says the low volt guy
LarryReadIt_
my guy, if you wanna do it take the leap. The pay is crazy, lots of hours and can be tiring especially if youre not used to working long days, youre young enough to take the leap and be okay if you dont end up liking it. Good luck
LarryReadIt_
damn, this was well said! Lots of things I didnt consider right off the bat

It would help if you could edit in the state you live it, I only say this because of pay being quite different throughout different states/ jurisdictions. My closest location for context is LU26 which pays 1st year apprentices about $27 an hour, however this is dependent on you being accepted as all apprenticeships are, some take longer to get into depending on how work is. Now personally if you know you can get a higher position/ pay if you stay with said company why not expedite that process? Especially with you expressing how lenient they are with you, it seems they're quite fond of you and value you, I would use that to my gain by having a direct conversation with however is in charge of hiring, whether it be someone in HR or if its a small shop then the owner. Plan out properly how you can add value to the company, im sure you know of a thing or two that can either cut costs or increase profits, the point is to add monetary value to the company. Once you have that in mind go in and talk to whoever it is you need to, tell them you want to get into a higher position/ more money and that you in turn will increase their value. But obviously have a solid plan, ask for their suggestions too, how you can help them more in exchange for more pay once you've done your end of the bargain.
LarryReadIt_
haha hell yeah, shoot me a dm whenever you make a decision or have any questions, if I don't know right off the bat I'll reach out to local brothers/ sisters and find out for you
LarryReadIt_
fuck yea, thats what it should all be about brother. If you're ever in 26's jurisdiction (DC, MD, NoVa) it'll be reciprocated, im around the way
LarryReadIt_
im in MD but I wanna go too
LarryReadIt_
woah woah woah, what about LU26?
LarryReadIt_
sounds like you dont have much to lose, congrats.

No kidding, I flipped somebody off a few weeks ago after he tried cutting me off but was unsuccessful. That hurt his tiny ego so much that he got next to me and pointed a gun at me. I laid back a bit, just enough to report him but the guy was waving at me to follow him, im not that dumb though lol. I had a good laugh but was really mad that im pretty certain it isn't his first time and man, I could've been a mom/ dad with kiddos in the back
WHATT decent is a huge understatement for Knipex. I love my Knipex tools, I run my cobras and wire strippers for most of my work, wera for screwdrivers, fluke for my testers.
