They aren't even remotely comparable. Snyder made huge characters act completely unlike themselves (Superman's "nobody stays good in this world," doing nothing to stop collateral damage throughout his fights, Batman killing people, yet NOT killing the Joker).
Lanterns made a big character act like a washed up version of HIMSELF, and still showed him as heroic without the ring

No, it shouldn't be taken literally. I studied it historically. It's a collection of a ton of literary genres written by dozens of authors over hundreds of years.
And in this case, the man saying it is a Jewish teacher of the 1st century. This is a group that loved extreme examples, hyperbole, and—you guessed it— metaphors, as teaching devices

I'm not religious, I studied the Bible as a historical text like any other ancient literature.
Jesus was a 1st century Jewish teacher. Jewish teachers LOVED hyperbole. Almost all the things Jesus said were meant to teach the listener something. In this case, it was actually showing that mutilation wouldn't stop the real issue, which originated in the mind.
Aside from that, notice that the earliest Christians weren't a self mutilated cult with missing eyes and hands?

Lmaooo okay I picked the wrong guy for this lol. Have a good one sir, please skip the stupid pills from here on out though. Or at least don't miss your dose of self awareness.
(because genuinely did you ask black people if they were okay with Perry being black)

Why would the phrase someone uses to say that they've been raped matter? If you wouldn't take a rape survivor seriously because of what phrase they used to describe it you need to go home and rethink your life

Can't forget Luke. The first movie played him to be what he really should have been post OT, a legendary Jedi master. Then in TLJ he's a miserable old man who gates the Jedi, trued to murder his own nephew, and a character that even Mark Hamill hated and thought wasn't Luke at all
LegendaryWill12
You do know it's just a kid right? He's 14. Probably has $50 dollars to his name

Nothing but our other faults for making reddit that way

I agree with the sentiment that you should question everything, but come on. Questioning the Holocaust is just stupid
LegendaryWill12
Motherfucker... Do you know what a 9-0 ruling means? It means the 9 justices VOTED on whether he should be taken off or not.
Anything is stupid when you say it stupidly.
Hal isn't a nurderer. He made a BAD decision that John kicks the shit out of him for and never forgives. Hal doesn't ever apologize out of pride, which is perfectly in character. Hal actually didn't kill anyone the entire show, the Halogram THOUGHT he killed a Manhunter and said he would never do such a thing. And he's right, he didn't. If you want to bring up John's crash, John didn't die! Nor did he try to outright kill him, though the crash itself easily could have done so.
John Stewart made a decision on Kerry based on context and her humanity. He chose to not make her turn herself in. That's not covering up a murder. There's nothing to cover up, the case was closed by everyone. Kerry turning herself in would have reopened it, but John didn't hide any evidence.
And waterboarding? Yeah he dunks Sinestro under the water because the fear compound will finally make Sinestro tell him the truth. He's not trying to drown him. He's dosing him with the compound. Waterboarding is simulated drowning
