and all of the players are absolutely awful with the ult.

Over the 2026 year Odegaard does not deserve it. But if he plays in 2027 like he started this season, he should be on next years list. But he's inconsistent and hurt a lot.
LettucePlate
Rice, Gabriel, and Saliba are the best players at their respective positions. Rice was better than Rodri this year. I'd put Rice 9th and put Rodri below him. Cubarsi, Cucurella, and Pacho being above both Gabriel and Saliba and Marquinhos and Upamecano being above Saliba is a joke imo. And it's not to say that guys like Cubarsi, Pacho, and Marquinhos aren't great or world class, but just assigning PSG and Spain players higher spots on the list when they didn't play as well as other players is stupid.
LettucePlate
Yea I feel like there's a sweet spot where there's enough people to interact with, but not so many people that there's an "audience" that you feel obligated to cater to.

I both get and dont get this. For athletes having 2 months off is quite valuable and beneficial for performance. But having more than like 2-4 weeks off for esports seems like a lot to me. I know America constantly gets memed for this, but most full time workers only get 2 weeks + holidays off during a year. Having more than a month off for esports seems like more than enough time. And the season starts in January. So scrim through October at least while all the teams are still here and haven't been eliminated next and take part of Nov + Dec off.
LettucePlate
Yea I went to melee locals for a while (and stopped bc I suck lol) I feel so bad for that scene. Incredible game with incredible history held back by bullshit.

Worlds prize goes to a handful of people out of a scene of thousands of aspiring pros. Nobody made money in Season 2 man. You can't just point to one prize pool that gave one team like 100k per person and was probably split between a ton of administration/sponsors etc.
LettucePlate
MKOI did it once this Worlds actually! And the fans/casters got excited when it showed up on the replay. It usually doesn't happen because LoL is constantly moving and always has a "next thing" to do at all times. Even if you 5-0 ace the opponent, you need to push waves and towers and take objectives or recall and buy items. There's very few moments in the game when most/all of the players are simultaneously having downtime where they can fist bump for 2 seconds. Unless theyre all dead in which case they wouldn't be fist bumping lol.
It's not like tac shooters where there's a round system and a few seconds of downtime between rounds.

I was one of those people that streamed to 0-5 people for a few months. And I started streaming a new game that came out that I was hyperfixated on and was the only person making YouTube videos about and I was getting 70-100 every stream for like 2-3 weeks. It eventually faded to like 30-40 which I knew was still amazing but it actually gave me anxiety I had never felt before like I needed to ride the wave of a new game and having a lot of people watch and say what they liked/didn't like. Streaming is very weird lol. Once ur past like 20 people it doesn't feel like chilling with your friends/people with similar interests anymore it feels like a product.
LettucePlate
He dealt 18k damage and he unironically would have dealt 30k+ if his ults hit anyone ever. He missed every single one except the last one and then Caliste sold.
LettucePlate
I can't believe how many players are still buying it just to never dodge anything and deal no damage. And now after the nerfs they don't even get good haste either.
LettucePlate
Ouch! I think those Rumble ults just hit me through my window. They certainly didn't hit BLG.
LettucePlate
That was a different fight, also he wasn't doing that in most fights? Especially the one they're talking about.
LettucePlate
I feel like if most/all of your players are on contract through 2027 you should want to be at Worlds scrimming if you're a western team even if you're eliminated/didn't make Worlds. Like if you're C9 or Sentinels and 4/5 or more of your roster is on contract through 27 why are you not trying to get scrims with TSW/CFO/LOS etc.
I know the game changes a lot in offseason most years but surely League isn't very different than it was in 2024-now and there are things you can learn.
LettucePlate
The first time I saw it have 1300 apm or whatever I was like well, we can't really take anything away from this. Cap it at 300apm and make the targeting slightly more realistic like you said and then we can actually learn from it.
LettucePlate
I pretty much only play Rumble mid unless I'm doing Flex/Clash and have to play top lane. But man this shit is AWFUL if you don't go the Dark Harvest + Stormsurge build. Like Liandrys Rumble is so much weaker than even a year ago, and for sure since the mini rework.
LettucePlate
The first gen of all esports were like this in the late '00s and 2010's. It was a very similar situation in Smash. Pro League players in Seasons 1-3 had no real incentive to drop everything in their lives to be pro. League was a great game and they loved competing and it blossomed into something amazing because they were willing to compete in it.
LettucePlate
This just isnt true
LettucePlate
Yes
LettucePlate
You’re not. People saying it should be universally used is a bit weird to me
LettucePlate
Out of the 19 we scored last season 15 of them were before February. We scored two vs Chelsea in March and since then we've scored 2 until now.
LettucePlate
I know what you mean by this but the %'s are off a bit. And depends what you mean by "old".
Most ranks now are only ~2 divisions higher than S4-S8 ranking systems.
Like top 1% from S4-S8 was ~D4 80LP. Now it's ~D2 80LP.
Median 50% rank was about Silver 2 - Silver 3 and now it's Gold 4 - Silver 1.
It's changed a bit, and probably moreso in Masters+ percentage wise but it's pretty similar to how it's always been outside of rare exceptions like Season 9.
LettucePlate
Living here and visiting for an event are very different
The actual org probably took some percentage of that amount. And again that was one team.
LCS salaries in 2013 were 25k minimum for a year but most didn't go much more than that. And also most players and teams changed rosters after 1 or 2 splits. Meaning you had players make like ~20-30k in their esports career and then get replaced. The median was probably around 30-40k around that time for like the main name players. They were not making very much money.
Streaming is a different beast but that was also only a select handful of players who were successful doing that. Like < 20 in the whole scene. Again, there were people making a good living off of League in those times, but we're talking about an extremely small minority, like maybe 50 people out of however many people were involved in the pro scene.
