Sorry you're getting so much pushback for this post. You can tell a lot of these people's only interaction with religion has been one thats repressive which is honestly sad. I'm not religious anymore but I was raised religiously. I have a lot of criticism for religious institutions. But I also know a lot of religious people and the vast majority of them are perfectly fine, very reasonable, non-homophobic, chill people.

I think a lot of these anti-religion takes come from being terminally online or only exposed to people who will use religion to justify being a shitty person. I was in the same boat not too long ago but then I spent a lot of time touching grass and being among people and I found out most of them are perfectly fine including the religious ones. There is a huge diversity in religious interpretations including peoples personal interpretations. Seeing people go "Catholic church homophobic" and pretend it universally discredits all religious believes as bad makes me sad. Just seems really unnecessary to attack someone for their believe just because you think its wrong. It goes the other way around too, no one should tell me what to do because of what they believe. But as long as we can both respect that then I really see no problem with it.
