I haven’t played a game with the wagons yet, but I really like the look of the gunwagon. Throw an elite unit of Nobz or breaka Boyz in it, along with some Gretchin and you’ve got a great mobile unit.

Ah, I thought you were talking about the Painboy for the extra 2 attacks on the docs tools and the urty syringe. The warboss is a good spot for it too

That’s a tough one to quantify. ‘Ard Boyz survivability buff, or Ferocious Show Off damage buff. I haven’t run that enhancement on the Painboy yet but I can definitely see the benefit.

I like them as units of 3 to deep strike for objectives, secondaries, and skirmishing. Cheap and easy to hide.

I agree that the 5++ is great on the 20 man block, but I will argue for the ‘Ard Boyz upgrade. In my example, he charged me top of turn 1 before I had a chance to use the warboss ability in my movement, and I didn’t want to call the Waaagh on turn 1. So the extra save for 25 points was a significant difference maker on saving the unit.

That I do think is worth it. 20 man squad with ‘Ard Boyz upgrade and a Painboy in cover can be very hard for your opponent to actually get rid of.
I ran this against Tyranids, and my opponent tried to get rid of it turn 1 with a charge by some leapers. He only got 12 of them, and I killed the leapers on the crack back. By turn 3 they were back to full health and had been holding my expansion objective the whole time.

I would have the player play the PC, and you play the doppelgänger. Don’t try to do anything crazy here with slowing the game down or convoluting things.
The players will know which is which, and the PCs won’t. The goal is to make your players feel like their PCs are clever.
Have some fun with it and really RP the doppelgänger selling that they are the real one with some erroneous information. Alternatively, have them know everything they PC knows, and do everything they do, including saying the same things at the same time.

If you mean the ‘Ard Boyz upgrade, I also say that’s only worth it on the 20 man squad. If you mean the Riled Up invuln, everyone can get that, and it’s better on bigger squads too.

Love the pontoon plane! What did you use to make them?
Lootloader
Agreed with this entirely, Flash Gitz are a perfect place for the Painboy. Revive a model and once per game a second in one phase is great efficiency.
Lootloader
Awesome!

This right here. Painboy on a 10 man is wasted, while the big boss makes them dangerous on the charge.

Both other commenters have good recommendations for units to kill them, and of course there is always using your own MANZ, Flash Gitz, and Nobz as well.
I’ll bring up the idea of outscoring them too. Bringing something like runt swarm to protect your units in both shooting and from charges can be powerful for matching up with a melee army.
Spreading out to deny deep strike is also easy with a lot of grots, so then you can control where your opponent comes in.
Lastly, if they are teched out with a bunch of killsaws on MANZ, then they don’t have the volume of attacks to deal with something like 120 grots.

I actually really like DeffKoptas in the 3 man unit. Easy to find a spot to deep strike in, and decently annoying for your opponent if they charge something that doesn’t want to fight.
Cheap as chips too, so you don’t mind losing them once they have scored some points.

I recently ran 2 squads of 4 with a BBOS in Da Big Hunt. I went against Nids, so plenty of juicy targets for their anti vehicle/monster stuff. I was very impressed by how much they pinched above their weight and how much damage they tanked.
I think people are so down on them because of comparative wounds per points on other units like bikers and killa Kans.
I say hold on to what you have, because the points will not stay at 130 for 4. I don’t think that their stats will change at all, but I would expect them to easily come down closer to 100 points, or even less.
Lootloader
Yeah I think BS Boyz are really good if you mix them in with the right things.
Lootloader
So Da Jump from the Weirdboy lets you pick up the unit and deepstrike where you want. So after you get in to combat, you can da jump somewhere else if the mission disc gates the need to!
Lootloader
I ran them the other day agains Tyranids. Big brick of 20 with a Beastboss and Weirdboy. They did work. Especially with the ability to get in to melee, then reposition on your next turn with da jump.

Against world eaters you’re going to want to start those meganobz on the board, or use the rapid ingress stratagem to get them on the board ASAP.

Without changing too much, I would swap the big boss and Painboy. The Painboy is going to be more effective on the ‘ard Boyz and the big boss on the Nobz imo. I would also consider dropping the DeffKoptas for a unit of Beast Snagga Boyz to synergize better with what you already have here.

Continuing to paint my Breaka Boyz squad, and studying up on the kill team rules associated with them!
I’m in a very similar situation as yourself. 38 this year, gaming group is sorta non-existent, family takes up most of my time.
I went to my local game store and played a couple games. Sort of a mid-time, nothing great but nothing terrible. I’ll be holding my judgement until I get a few more games in with more people, but I may be hanging it back up.
I’ll just be focusing on painting mostly and reading the lore.
