You just gave me an idea! The slip pocket on the right could also hold a slim, bound notebook. I sometimes enjoy switching to a bound notebook for brain dumps or journaling!
Lora_MeePlus
We're still exploring the idea!
The current portfolio design is made from a single piece of leather, so an A5 version would require a piece of Pueblo leather roughly twice the size of an A5 binder. At that size, it becomes quite difficult to avoid noticeable natural marks, such as growth lines or scratches, when cutting the leather.
Another option would be to use several smaller pieces of leather and stitch them together. We've actually tested this approach, but we didn't find it quite as aesthetically pleasing as the current one-piece design.
That said, we'll keep exploring different options and see if we can make it work!

I just tried it out! An unfolded US dollar bill doesn't quite fit in the zipper pouch, but it fits perfectly in the slip pocket on the right side!
Lora_MeePlus
That's such a clever idea!

I'd love to! 😊 If more people are interested, I'll definitely consider making it available in our shop. Thanks so much for the encouragement!

Same here! I usually use two colors too — one for writing and the other for crossing off completed tasks or highlighting important things. 😊

Thank you! I actually made it myself to carry my pens when I'm out and about. Being able to secure it to my SlimPad with the elastic band was a happy little bonus!
Lora_MeePlus
That makes sense! My pens are probably too cheap to deserve their own individual slots though 😂

Haha, 2 for practicality, 20 for emotional support! 😂

So happy to see this 😭 We’ve had quite a few people asking for a Personal size version, so it feels really nice to finally have it out there. Hope you love yours when it arrives!
Lora_MeePlus
Yay, thank you! I’m really glad the 16mm option works for you 😊 Hope you love it!
Lora_MeePlus
I’ve probably used my Personal 16mm the most and for the longest too. I use it as the command center for my small business — mostly for mapping out the bigger picture and what I need to work on over the medium and long term.
Alongside that, I usually keep another SlimPad as my daily planner, where I break things down into day-to-day tasks and project details.
That second planner changes size quite a lot depending on what life looks like at the time. If I’m traveling a lot, I’ll usually go smaller with a Pocket or Mini for portability. If work gets busier, I’ll switch to a Narrow or Personal so I have more writing space.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply — we’ve been on holiday for the past couple of days, so I wasn’t in the studio and couldn’t test this properly until now.
I just did a quick test with the Mini 11mm using a card holder with one card inside.
With 120gsm paper, around 70 sheets can fit while still flipping comfortably.
With our 50gsm lightweight paper, around 115 sheets can fit and still flip freely.
One thing to note is that the Mini inserts I used for this test have about 3mm from the edge of the punched hole to the edge of the paper. If your inserts have a larger margin than this, the actual number of sheets you can fit while still keeping the page turning smooth may be a little lower.
Having one card versus four cards doesn’t make a huge difference to the paper capacity, because most of the space on the rings is taken up by the thickness of the leather card holder itself rather than the cards.
However, if you add several cards and also fill the rings quite full with paper, the planner may not close completely flat, like in the photo.
I hope this helps with choosing your ring size!

Hi! We’ve actually looked into 20mm and 25mm rings before. The structure of those larger rings is quite different from the 11mm and 16mm rings we currently use, so they can’t work with our existing spine design.
We would need to develop a new spine structure for them, and we still have some concerns about long-term durability and quality. So for now, we’re still researching whether we can make it work reliably.
We’d definitely love to offer a larger-ring option if we can get the structure right :)

I totally understand what you mean. Sometimes a small adjustment can make such a big difference, and it’s nice to really use what you have before deciding what to change.
I’m also really glad the 13mm post was helpful :) It’s definitely a nice in-between size!

The Navy has aged so beautifully — it’s gotten so dark that it almost looks black now!

Wow, I think you’re officially becoming a ring planner expert! 😊
Testing 60+ different papers and building your own little machine park is seriously impressive. It’s amazing how deep the rabbit hole can go once you start exploring ring planners!
We’re really happy to see that this post has been useful for the community. Thank you for sharing your experience and adding so much valuable information to the discussion!

Hi Invisible_frogs,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! 😊
We’re really glad to hear that the 16mm rings are working well for you. I think you made a great point — the “best” ring size really depends on how you use your planner. For someone who mainly uses it at a desk and likes keeping more inserts together, 16mm can be a very comfortable choice.
And thank you for sharing your solution for writing on the left side! This is actually a really clever idea. Everyone has a slightly different way of adapting to ring planners, and we love seeing how people create setups that work for their own needs.
Your point about pictures being more helpful than just measurements is also exactly why we wanted to make this comparison. Ring sizes can be difficult to imagine from numbers alone, so we hope these real-life comparisons can help more people make a decision.
Thanks again for taking the time to share such a thoughtful comment. We really appreciate it! 😊
