Bernie Sanders has never been a Democrat. He caucused with them and in'16 he took advantage of their good nature by running in their primaries. When he lost those primaries (which he did) many of his his supports very publicly did all they could to keep Hillary from winning.

How much of this was bad faith effort from foreign trolls we'll never know. But to this day there is a contingent of people claiming to be lefties even as they work against the Democratic Party.
