Well, September for them, October for us.

Can you splice in the call on the Acuna pop out to right? That announcer really wanted to call another HR.

I called Glo Fiber customer support and was assigned a public IP address, which fixed all of my bandwidth issues, as well as connection issues for my work computer and VPN.

Older post, but I am experiencing a similar variance in my DL vs UL speed. I have 1gig service and Speed Test shows my DL speed maxing at around 150 mbps and then slowly dropping down to about 45mbps but my upload is at like 900mbps.

But I thought the president is rotated by seat and nominates a chancellor, who is then voted on by everyone. If Hitler is voted in as Chancellor after at least two fascist policies have been enacted, the fascists win.

Did I write this post? I’ve been in this same exact place at two different jobs after leaving public. I was pushed out instead of stepping away, so maybe I had a bigger burnout issue than anything else, but I find it best to embrace the new freedom.
I think it’s easy to slip into doing the minimum and even possibly underperforming, at least it was for me, due to the lack of overlapping deadlines and high stress levels. What I’ve found to be helpful recently is to focus on rebuilding my brand by demonstrating my knowledge and skills in my work product. It helps me stay focused during the week when there doesn’t seem much to work on, and try to get an answer or deliverable out for review before I get asked about it. There are absolutely days when I don’t do much value add work, but I try to stay grounded and make small steps where I can.

I actually started in “Internal Audit” when I started in PA. It was risk assurance back then, but we were outsourced internal audit. Eventually it evolved into advisory/consulting, but still a glorified internal audit function. So I guess that’s the only space that I’ve ever worked in.
As far as expertise though, IA is all about risks and controls. So if you have any engagements that include controls testing or haves access to any of the clients process flows or procedural documents, those are good places to start in terms of upskilling yourself. Reach out to your network and see if anyone is willing to share a Risk and Controls Matrix and poke around to see how risks and controls relate in various industries.

I work in internal audit. I did PA for almost 7 years before eventually landing in my current role as IA in a healthcare system. It is a night and day difference in my current role for project workload vs PA. I am staffed on one audit at a time, sometimes a second if I’m wrapping the other up. Nowhere near the balancing act of 3-4 clients and 6 projects like PA.

When she’s feeling better in a couple days and really wants that shower, make sure you double/triple check with the nurse for what products to use. My wife wanted a shower ASAP after her c section and we didn’t know there were special wipes or soap until we were all done.
Just a small piece of advice for the end of the week. You got this, dad!

Coop repping Iowa Children’s Hospital + clothespins from Jordan Davis in the background cracks me up.

I’ll take that bet, I was fired on a Monday. But my meeting was added on the previous Friday.

Saddam Hussein on the front on Fortress America, what a time for marketing of board games.

The best time to be looking for a job is when you still have a job. It never hurts to talk to a recruiter and see what they’re looking for, do some practice interviews, maybe find a better job. You can listen to their pitch, create a relationship, and keep the door open for later. You never know, they might have a better job than your current gig.

$105k, MCOL. 7 years in public, now a senior in internal audit at a hospital. Never more than 40 hours a week.

In my experience, the “Why did you go over budget” comment is actually “Why am I only hearing about you going over budget right now?” The manager finding out at the end of the week, or phase, or month, etc. is what causes the problem, not just the act of going over budget.

Why should it be a great move? Hoping your opponent doesn’t see that they’ll lose their queen if they take your bishop?

If you miss a MC question, write down the topic and go back and review it. That list will get Long, but it helps you prioritize the things you don’t know instead of continuing to cover the things you already know. If you want to watch the videos, watch em. If you want to read the book, read. But make sure you keep track of what you don’t know like the back of your hand.

Absolutely don’t quit. Qualifying for unemployment even if you are planning to be a stay at home mom will not be possible if you quit. As long as you aren’t doing something illegal or against code of conduct, you will still more than likely qualify for unemployment even if they put you on a pip and fire you. When I got unemployment, IIRC the wording was something like “due to no fault of your own” when making the eligibility decision, so the bar is pretty low to qualify.

Coming from personal experience, you’re cooked. If you have time before the meeting make sure to save any personal items from your computer, and maybe try looking up your contract to see what it says about severance and paid out sick time/benefits.
My wife and I asked our delivery nurse this when our baby girl was born. (She’s objectively cute so not an issue for us) The nurse said her response for ugly babies is “Look at those cheeks!”
