We're ecstatic to hear :)

Unofficially, yes we do. Despite it being a rather poor financial and business choice, we want to continue doing the right thing. We take warranties on a case by case basis, and are just much more vigilant about looking for warranty abuse now.

One thing about the batteries is you'd need to ensure the *entire* outer casing of the battery is the negative terminal. Many batteries' terminals are only the ends of the battery, so you'd want to check with a multimeter, or the manufacturer directly.

Email us at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and we'll help you out one way or another :)

Hi there, Justin here, new CEO - we appreciate the feedback.

One thing to note is we still hand make our products in the USA, and no staff is paid less than $30/hour.
This makes competing with all the brands bulk making things overseas more difficult, with them likely paying a fraction for completed stock vs. what we pay.
Our suppliers have also steadily raised the cost of our raw materials and components over the years.
We're doing what we can.

Also, I've heard a lot of complaints about the warranty change, and that's definitely something I think hurt our brand more profoundly than management at the time foresaw.
The move was primarily to stop abuse of the warranty system, where some bad apples figured out how to game it to get dozens of free launch boxes.
Unfortunately, I think the wiser move at the time would have been to look at better ways at policing abuse, instead of changing the warranty conditions.
I'm strongly considering re-introducing the lifetime warranty.

One note, which has not been publicly disclosed until now, is that we still effectively honor the lifetime warranty when people email in requesting support.

Publicly sharing notes like this may be counter to most business advice, but Magic Flight's ethos has never been to be some sterile corporate profit extractor.
We have, and want to, continue making cool things.

Open questions to all:
What would be a price point that felt fair compared to what else is on the market?
What other accessories or products would you like to see us make next?
Would the re-introduction of the lifetime warranty shift your perception of our brand meaningfully?

MagicFlight

Indeed we did!

MagicFlight

Indeed it is :)

MagicFlight

Thank you!

MagicFlight

Umm, what?
"Gifted" eh?

This is news to us.

We've recently completed a move from San Diego to rural Appalachia and it's taken quite an effort to get our production capacities back.
Stay tuned, as Cherry and Walnut boxes will be back in stock soon.
We are also tooling up for production runs of Power Adapters, Grinders, and Muad-Dib screens.

MagicFlight

We are also planning on production runs of the finishing grinders as well late spring or early summer. :)

Hi u/jejsjhabdjf

Yes, we are planning on carrying additional variety, wood etched, and lid designs again.
We recently moved our production facilities from California to Rural Appalachia, so getting everything moved and set up has been quite the task.

The bubbler you're referring to is the UFO, which we are currently sold out of, but will consider restarting that production line if there is enough demand.

Right now our current priority is Power Adapters, and Launch Boxes themselves of various types.

By spring / summer we should have more options available for you.

Cheers!
-Your Flight Crew

(PS this is Justin @ Magic-Flight, new COO)

MagicFlight

Hey there u/reeferqueefer - those look quite old.
Where did you purchase those?

We've not carried that packaging for quite some time, in the years range.
You may have purchased from one of our old resellers.
All of our sales now are exclusively through magic-flight.com, unless resellers have existing old stock, which I suspect may have happened here.

Send me an email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and share this Reddit link for reference, and we will send you two battery sets with shipping at no cost to you if you'd like.

MagicFlight

We're hoping to have another batch ready for sale by late March, perhaps mid April at the latest.

We recently moved our production operations from California to Rural Appalachia.
The coolant lines for the primary precision welding laser we were using to join the stainless steel case of the power adapter froze, and unfortunately that machine became a total loss (and is not cheap).

We have been shopping around and found a US based manufacturer of a laser (more expensive, but service, parts, etc. available if we have a similar problem in the future) that we are planning to purchase hopefully by end of month or early next, which is the key piece we need to get this production line back up.
In addition, the weather is still -cold-, so we are wanting to ensure comfortable working conditions until we can get some of our working spaces better insulated and HVAC-ed.

We are definitely looking into the 510 adapter solution as well.
Part of the ethos of Magic-Flight that we very much want to keep alive is the ability for various components to be modular with each other, eg. like how the finishing grinder fits perfectly into the bowl of the Launch Box, or how the Power Adapter plugs into the same port a battery can, etc.

Hi mflbninja!

You may already be aware, though for clarity and those interested, this aphorism is rooted from Forrest Landry's core work, An Immanent Metaphysics.

The one thing I would say is Forrest's clear distinction between "decision" and "choice".
Decision is more of a cutting away, eliminating options until only one is left.
Choice is more about open possibilities, and selecting one from the various options available.

Highly recommended checking out the core work if you find this thread interesting.

The Effective Choice is also a good onramp to the more involved read of An Immanent Metaphysics.

Cheers!

This year we finalized moving our production facility from San Diego to Rural Virginia.

We are still in the process of unpacking and setting up all our machine tools.
It's a bit slower going in the winter since our buildings are currently uninsulated.
It is 23F outside currently.

Additional boxes are coming soon - next up will be a batch of Cherry and Walnut Launch Boxes.

MagicFlight

Hi CloudWolf40,

Yes, they can run on a 12v system directly, and we do carry a car auxiliary adapter:
https://magic-flight.com/products/car-adapter

mflbninja is correct, in that the $46 shipping quote is International Priority Mail.
For a number of cost and retail fulfillment logistics reasons we moved to only offering priority mail as a shipping option.
This seems to be a non-issue for US orders, but international was definitely higher.

However, your comment, and reviewing feedback from other international customers has lead us to re-introduce the USPS First Class International shipping option, and should be live now for you to see updated rates options at checkout.

Thanks for the note :)
We're happy to help!

Technically yes, the Muad-Dib screens would fit on the Launch Box's rails, you would just need to completely remove / destroy the Launch Box's screen to do so.

MagicFlight

We do still stock acrylic stems if you're needing a replacement.
