If you want to be straight to the point and push through and get done what you need done, then yeah.
If you're worried about delicate social dynamics, smoothing everyone's feathers, pandering to their weak egos, dancing a million lies and one half truth in an extensive circle until you almost manage to halfway get to where you wanted to be, then no.
MajorDraw3705
Just the skills testing - whatever skills the job requires. Unless it's in sales or prostitution, I'm not really sure of the point of an interview to prove you can lie and sell your personality simultaneously.
MajorDraw3705
Make it skill testing without resulting in a product or work that the would-be employer can steal.

Several people tried to convince me to go roof jumping with them well before that movie came out. They jumped. I did not. Screw that insanity.

A few years after I quit chain smoking, I started smoking one cigarillo/cigar a month. But that was years after and I still had to fight the cravings for several days after each of those cigars. I can't even imagine going back to an addiction "recreationally" in the first year or two.

I'm still staring down two nations, two governments and two societies five decades after my forced adoption. They haven't changed. They just lie a little differently now.
MajorDraw3705
We all die anyway, so speak.

That is not a Gifted and Talented class. Sure, they might say it is to get funding, but that is not the material - not even in kindergarten.
MajorDraw3705
Yeah. The world may be stacked against the individual, but if there's a Reddit conspiracy against sharing, it's against nearly all of us.
MajorDraw3705
I think it's something biological. Like cells we share when sitting together that are carried with the other person when they leave the room. But that's just my wildest theory on it. The more likely, and the more studied, phenomenon for now is still the mind picking up subtle clues and placing them all together - clues like his expression when receiving a text, clues in her style and demeanor leading to predictable preferences in restaurants, his looking at the time more frequently than he would before going to work, prior conversations between them that I had consciously ignored but that my mind was already stringing together, etc.

For me, I honestly don't think it would be safe to be that emotionally vulnerable in such a harsh place. Where I come from is essentially the NYC/LA of Argentina with a ton of politics thrown on top and they actually LOVE abusing their group victims, particularly their group child victims, of which I was one - hence the group transfer of children to the US.
Okay, I used the word group too many times. They are mentally weak mofos who used politics as an excuse to gang up on, pick on, and abuse infants because infants can't fight back. I was legit labelled with a political party and made into a pinata at birth and still have the injuries from it (mostly because both Argentina and the US neglected to treat the injuries while they were still treatable, but I digress).
Those don't seem like the type of people I want to be vulnerable around. They and the US genuinely make me feel nauseous. I want my connection to my original name and family - but that does not include having any intention of hanging around a society that is that mentally deranged and continues to show the same levels of abuse and insanity today. I want my name and family - I do not also want a bunch of random psychopaths who somehow think they should be an add-on to that.

I was supposedly kept after the adoption date to "protect me from war and politics." (I'm a war baby)
That war ended decades ago while I was still a small child. The people in my country have isolated themselves from it and put it in the past. Meanwhile, I didn't get that opportunity to escape war (or politics). I got sent to live with a military contractor involved in politics on the east coast of the US and the life I was dragged into was so war-related and DC-adjacent that the White House may as well have been in my front yard and my back yard may as well have been Gaza.
Yes, I would have preferred to return to my family. My actual family, not the familyTM I was sold into. I was going to face politics either way. At least I would have had family and a lack of war if I'd been returned to my country.

Weirdest thing that I can remember
My husband (newlyweds) had an ex who wasn't really done with him. So, one day early in the marriage, he tells me he's going to work. Same hours as always, he worked nights, there was nothing suspicious and I had yet to realize how much she was still clinging to him.
While sitting alone at home, I kept having this image in my head, like a view from his eyes, of her sitting across the table at a pizza place. I remembered most of the details of the surroundings. I remembered part of the conversation. Of course I assumed I was just being paranoid about cheating and it was a manifestation of that.
Nope. They had indeed been to that pizza place during the hours I'd seen them in my mind. She later posted a photo of them together, there, and damn did it look a lot like the pizza place that my mind had visualized.
We broke up a few years later for other reasons, although she did play a small role in the decision.
Edit to add it was probably my subconscious putting together clues, like maybe a text I'd seen him make out of the corner of my eye but hadn't processed consciously, but damn did that pizza place actually look like the one I imagined.
MajorDraw3705
You make a solid point.
MajorDraw3705
They really don't value us or see us as humans.
MajorDraw3705
Same. And it took five years to regain my Sundays and another 10 to get Saturdays.
MajorDraw3705
I'm taking a break from the news, but if I had to guess.
Something about an election.
Some excuse for war/colonization.
A resource grab with some propaganda thrown on top.
A distraction, from what I no longer care to know.
And a new product drop/push, disguised as news.
MajorDraw3705
I'm just waiting for a landslide. Not in an election. An actual landslide with mud and rocks.
MajorDraw3705
Apparently, the fact that I put a line to represent the chest/belly on my stick figure drawings was phenomenal and ahead of other kids my age when I was four.
I'm still concerned about the other kids. Actually, now that they're adults they concern me even more.
MajorDraw3705
I have a basic approximation of when mine was based on what events I could patch together from that time through a foggy historical lens (the known day the mother I remember entered where I was born, the day someone claims they saw her still pregnant but that could have entirely been a post-baby belly, etc.).
Having to dig this hard is freaking tiring.
MajorDraw3705
Then you do not respect the rights of a child, and I would have zero love for you. We are human beings. We have needs of our own. We have families of our own. Our needs extend far beyond the need to please you, coddle you, and meet your needs.
Your desperate need for permanent ownership is driving a for profit industry in the human trade and you're so blind and from such a backward and decrepit society that you can't even see what you have done.
Hell, you probably think being with you is an opportunity that anyone should be grateful to be forced into permanently and without consent .
MajorDraw3705
And if the family becomes capable of taking their child in and raising them? Then what. You bought permanent ownership and the parent label. You really giving that back after your financial and emotional investment? Because the people with that much humanity in them are so rare that I've heard of one of those in my entire life.
MajorDraw3705
If my adopter and the governments involved (and the general audience we call the population) had recognized me as a human being instead of permanently sold property, and acknowledged that I had the right to reunification at any point and especially after it became safer than being adopted into the US with all its significant problems... then I would have seen the entire thing in a more positive light rather than as the bought and sold property I am.
Because, baby, I don't approve of a civilization that decrepit as to not honor a child's connection to their family, and it's not going to give me love for the buyer who demands the right to be permanent owner as if I'm not a human being.
Why is it that one of the reactions is always to hide, lie, and attempt to erase the evidence of harm they've done? In the end they were talking about hiding the body, as if no one is going to notice they were there and then the guy went missing. As if the rest of the world is actually as low intelligence as them and cannot successfully pass a game of peek-a-boo "I can't see it! Where'd it go???" and move onto the next intellectual stage of development.
