This is a great recommendation, thanks for posting it! Was just looking at something like this.

Marc_IRL

Impulsive landfall? Fitting for a starship pilot.

Marc_IRL

Kind of sounds like both, together, which is way harder to deal with.

For most people, medication is like wearing glasses when you have eyesight problems. There’s no way I’d walk out the door without either taking my meds or putting on my glasses. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend seeing a doctor for it.

You mentioned that you’re taking medication for the sex issue, and so whatever that is you’ll want to fill in the doctor. I don’t know what it involves but I assume you’d be double dosing on stimulants or something.

At the same time, I would raise these issues with the doctor. They may need counseling to untangle, which is fine and normal.

And I know I’m just a stranger on the internet giving out advice, but I’ve been married, and I’ve been dealing with ADHD medicated and unmedicated both since my 20s, almost 20 years. But, for both of your sake, please try to work out these things before you get married.

Marriage is never a solution to anything, it’s an affirmation of your long term intent and care for each other. It’s paperwork and social pressure on top of what’s already difficult: maintaining a quality partnership while struggling with mental health.

I have a different view on this because I’ve been divorced, and have since had a longer and even more meaningful relationship that didn’t involve marriage. But “waiting until marriage” for just about anything other than something financial feels absurd to me. Deal with your problems now, don’t put them off until the stakes are even higher.

You can do this, but you’ll need outside help beyond the people here. If you have the means, set up something with a doctor/counselor and give them the full story. They can help you process and plan. It’s worth doing this right, for her and for yourself.

And then the change came about in Strange New Worlds when General Order 1 wasn't blunt enough for captains so they changed it to the PRIME DIRECTIVE and then captains still were loosey goosey with it.

Marc_IRL

That’s on purpose, so people don’t message me on Reddit.

You’ve provided no context for what you want and are replying to a random post that I made in an unrelated subreddit. I’ve also never publicly listed my email. This is intrusive behavior. I have a right to not have work follow me everywhere into my personal life and off-hours.

I have a public-facing Bluesky account where I choose to engage with players. But never in 15 years have I responded to a request that says “hey I need to talk to you”, because 99.9% do not in fact need to talk to me, and not including even a hint of what it’s about will not get me to open a private conversation to random request number ten thousand.

Marc_IRL

This is super weird behavior

Every game, every time

I want to start off as child John and train with my fellow Spartans. Then eventually all the pre covenant war stuff. Then the big “oh shit, aliens attacked”.

Marc_IRL

There are very special and specific things where people can want you to have a similar experience. A lot of Outer Wilds or Blue Prince advocates are like this, but the people that completed them are probably closer to a monoculture than “people who saw Star Wars ESB in the last 40 years”.

Marc_IRL

Translations are all done by people, not AI. If you’ve found a bad translation, you can always submit it as a bug report.

Physical goods have very different schedules than digital ones. Trying to sync up their release exactly is nearly impossible.

Lived here for two years, there are lots of convenient stores in the centrum, but there’s not a lot to do. I always have to go back into the city for activities or dining variety. The occasional food truck/market days are a blessing and I always try to go to those. The one cafe isn’t very good. Feeding the ducks at Långbroparken is great, though, just grab some seeds or peas from COOP on your way.

Being at the end station is nice, you always get a seat. And if you miss my train with 7+ minutes to spare I can just stroll to the next station instead of waiting and get some walking in. It’s less nice when coming home really late when the trains only go every 30 minutes, and I do wish I lived before the fork.

Prisvärt is weird and cheap but kind of great really. Home Food is amazing Iraqi food, got the recommendation on a random Uber ride and I’ve been eating there ever since.

It really all depends on your lifestyle. I moved from Södermalm where there was lots to do but I paid a lot in rent. Now I own a place out here. I’m still in the city daily for work, so I can always do something fun there before heading home.

Marc_IRL

Yes. Prime Time gets you lands on entering, so even if it’s exiled you’ve got a Dark Depths and a Thespian’s Stage, or something else. Invigorator goes a round doing nothing, begging for someone to kill it. When you finally attack with it, they can let it go through or chump block it.

With the Invigorator, someone else is usually in control of if you get lands or not. You can swing and get 0, or 1 land. By the time Titan does the same thing, you’ve fetched four different lands onto the battlefield, and you were in control of that.

Also Invigorator is much harder to splash into other decks.

Marc_IRL

I have a strong clones deck and it consistently beats people up with their own cards. Not my fault, you put that in there! I don’t run Magister Sphinx! I didn’t put five copies of Serra’s Emissary in my deck!

Marc_IRL

This was taken in Unreal in Dungeons II for the Gamescom booth, and has been reused a number of times because it's a sweet video. We had it on some of the TVs at the office during launch since it's a longish loop.

Marc_IRL

Love this! Nice spread across the games.

This seems to have generated a lot of followup comments, so I’ll elaborate.

“Maybe it’s AI” has become a tool of the reactionary, of offhanded comments posted without thought, by those who can later say “I was just asking questions!”

I see this in our community, I see this in other games that involve a lot of digital art, but where I don’t hear it a lot is among my peers in the games industry. Offhanded comments have nothing at stake, and if they start an accidental witch hunt at the mere suggestion of AI, there’s no stakes for them. The internet detectives get out their red circles as “proof” and you see an artist scramble to provide WIP images to get the mob off of their back.

Why don’t I hear these comments among my peers? Because their first thought isn’t an accusation that someone like them has faked their work. Their first thought is to inspect the medium, look for other signs, or say three of the greatest words that you can say: “I don’t know” and then not follow it up with potentially damaging musings.

As for you, and your comment personally? I don’t know you, assume it was an offhanded comment, and didn’t need to get out the pitchforks, so you got a simple and exasperated, “come on maaaan, it’s not AI, it says it’s a different game on the photo”.

Reflect on that if you will. There’s no value judgement here of you, but the overall trend of “I don’t understand this so I guess it could be AI” is as uninspired as it is potentially damaging and I think we can do better.

Marc_IRL

Come on, not everything not immediately understood is AI. The image says Minecraft Dungeons II on it, twice.

This is one of the villages in the game. And I had no idea the Windows team or whomever was gonna do this. It’s very cool! I hope other games’ scenery might get the same treatment over time.

Marc_IRL

Should’ve made 3/1 piglin brutes!

Marc_IRL

Now remove all of the things from the list that were things that tried but didn’t work out, or things we genuinely don’t care about. Theme boosters? Come on.

If you have a cohesive argument, make it with good points, not by yelling “wah things are different”.

Marc_IRL

From listing to Maro talk, I was under the impression that he was a bit frustrated that they made all these fun cards and then the fun and casual format doesn’t even allow them to be played. Most silver bordered cards would fit fine into commander. Making part of the un-set eternal legal meant that those cards would indeed be playable in Magic’s largest recognized format.

I know we’re used to being pessimistic here but I don’t know that we can blame this one on “accountants” or doing something last minute. And it wasn’t standard legal.

Marc_IRL

Depends if you want to go competitive or cooperative. After B&B pit everyone against each other, we made Portal Dash so people could work together. Both different and valid goals!

Marc_IRL

Just like in life, you should do whatever you enjoy and makes you feel good, as long as it isn’t at others’ expense.

And other people could stand to learn that when someone does something different from them, as long as it’s not hurting them, maybe they don’t need to offer a contrarian opinion!
