I joined Reddit in Sept. I searched within Reddit to understand the rules and find how and where I could post. It was rough at first NGL.

You have to build karma by posting and commenting in newbie friendly subs.

I learned that after building some karma, I could join a few subs that really interested me. I suggest you do the same- and be kind, respectful and engage with the community in the subs you really like and eventually you’ll build more karma and be able to join more subs.

make sure to read each subs rules. each sub has their own specific rules - what’s ok in one sub is not necessarily ok in another. some are strict- others are less so.

do you like any sports teams? photography? tech? there are subs for so many things here.

you might even find a sub for where you live!

and don‘t ask for karma - ever.

good luck- you will see if gets easier! 😊

it’s cool that you are concerned for your friend. chances are he’s very aware of the problem. as a dyslexic myself, I was lucky teachers noticed things because a few that didn’t wanted to hold me back a year or two. intervention helped me but it came from teachers and my parents as well as the principal.

maybe speak with your guidance counselor to see if they can intervene- they can speak with the teachers to see what they’re noticing as well as with his parents. it’s great that you care. but he might feel self Conscious and not ready to really admit it to his friends. some dyslexics feel embarrassed.

I wasn’t - I knew something was up but didn’t understand why all the studying I did - seemed to do nothing, but with intervention they provided help and I excelled, eventually skipping a year.

also- remember- he needs a proper diagnosis- he could have ADHD, dyslexia, a combo of both or other things. but you sound like a caring friend so just be there for him and try not to emphasize it so much. stress can make things worse. good luck!

local passive parks and arboretums… I discovered Bayard Cutting Arboretum and it’s awesome for hiking, birdwatching or just chilling out. it’s in East Islip/Great River.

first, let me say this is a gorgeous foto of a Snowy Egret. the eye color, feather detail, lighting-gorgeous. personally I think they don’t get the love they deserve. their little yellow feet- their small stature and big bird ability- what’s not to love!?!
