I have never heard anyone say (or read a single article) that Troy was any more than an enjoyable pseudo-historical romp! Gold standard LOL! It doesn't have particularly high scores; 53% rotten, 7 IMDB. It was enjoyable, felt epic in scale but there was plenty of criticism when it was released and sure people have warmed to it as a decent watch, but thats it.
