I haven't kept up in a while, are the forks of SQLite that replace its storage engine with a faster one no longer maintained ? I recall seeing huge performance gains with the SQLite+LMDB backend combo back in the day.

Why are people talking about "hobby convenience" here ?
Every single Rust project in my organisation (very large multinational telecom) uses cargo, and the same applies to the open-source components we use.

The world of RISC-V extensions and their effective adoption in profiles is still moving too rapidly to provide a convenient platform for general-purpose computing.
It will most likely get there in the next few years, but after we have profiles that:
- are close enough to feature parity with established ARM/x86 flavours
- have solid vendor support without proprietary or pseudo-proprietary extensions
- have been around long enough for software support to "just work".
Some of this is chicken-and-egg and outside of honest RISC-V vendors' control, but success in this industry has never been "fair" anyway.

This is like saying that cars aren't a depreciating asset because of covid.
The used market went up across the board and took several years to start working normally again, but the fundamental economic proposition of a car has not changed.

Unfortunately most LTD Eclipses only look like an LP from the front, they have incorrect features like a lighter body and seamless heel carve that are obviously unauthentic /s
Jokes aside, if you really want one that is built more like a traditional LP, get a "T" model, those come with a thicker body and 22 frets.

I would expect a simple phillips head screw going into a guitar neck to cam out well before it could do any real damage to the wood.
And even assuming that the factory is strictly optimising for production speed, they're almost certainly driving these screws in with a safe torque limit because it's faster and more reliable.

Nah, one of the main reasons is that the Bass VI was one of the first extended range guitars intended for truly low tunings and has a JM-based body.
And artists associated with the Bass VI are often also associated with other offsets.

Some are close-ish to Randall, Sunn, or Roland offerings solid state offerings (those companies produced some exclusively JFET or JFET-heavy preamps) re: the pre-amp stages.
Commercial solid state amps from past decades don't use JFETs to emulate tubes, that idea was really niche until DIYers developed on it and popularized it in the 00s.
I don't know much about Randall, but the Sunn Beta uses CMOS inverters (also seen in the Hot Tubes, Red Llama and several Darkglass designs). The Roland JC series are a mess electronically but the analog ones are largely op amp based.
The Marshall 8280 right beside me as I type this has 1 12AX7, the rest is mostly op amps.

That is not true. Apple offered to integrate LLVM into GCC under the GPL, it was Richard Stallman who refused to work with them and pushed them to strike out on their own.
Companies contribute to GPL projects all the time, but most won't put up with RMS and other people at the FSF.

They're general musical tools that happen to be usable as guitar pedals.
Tying effect algorithms to hardware provides excellent protection against piracy, so some of the best developers of digital effects only sell them that way. It's more effective than the most aggressive software anti-piracy measures and more acceptable to most consumers at the same time since a physical device has actual upsides.

For some genres you need a noise gate because you won't get tight enough rhythm from palm muting alone.
And for that use case you want a nice 4-cable noise gate that you can dial in as an effect.
MatthPMP
The Boss "noise suppressors" are noise gates, there is no other mechanism of noise suppression in there.

It's a 2 in 1, one side is a Hot Tubes (one of the oldest pedals based on overdriving CMOS inverters), the other side is a clone of an Xotic BB preamp which is itself a modified tubescreamer with a different tonestack.
Because it's a mistake to attribute Java's performance deficit to the GC alone. Is it faster for most use cases like what the Java subreddit claims ? No. Is it faster in some specific contexts ? Yes, in terms of CPU throughput, though it's almost never competitive in terms of memory consumption. Is the overhead directly attributable to the GC as large as C/C++/Rust/Zig programmers often claim ? No.
The fact is, there is no state-of-the-art systems programming language with native support for a state-of-the-art GC, so comparisons are always made between languages that try to eliminate costly abstractions, and languages with costly abstractions other than the GC built into their roots.
You cannot infer the cost of different approaches to memory management by comparing different languages.
