Thanks I'll look into that. I am fairly new to the whole LLM for coding so it's great to have some pointers.
MauriSmau
Thanks! I should have a guest/demo edition soon of you want to test it.
MauriSmau
Hey, thanks. I agree, I thought with an affordable price it would have been ok but you guys are right. A guest system is coming soon, similar to Talespire's one but seats a bought via DLC. The Guest version will also let you host with limitation to serve as Demo.

Yes, gridless is not a problem.
Adunata is system agnostic. You can customize your minis and the default minis with custom stats, dice rolls that reference these custom stats. It supports roll under check where, in your dice bonus field you can type < [target number] and the result flashes green or red if its success or fail. Initiative criteria can be customize, meaning instead of 1d20 + initiative you can use just a 1d12.
Here a short showing the custom stats and rolls

Sci fi terrain and minis are in the game yet but I am plannin to add them. What you can do today is to import custom 3d models or easily create paper minis for you miniatures. Import of custom 3d models for terrain is something I am considering.

I know you are right... it's just a bit sad how it is almost always the master that has to put most of the effort and money. I think I will try the dlc approach to buy seats. Looking into that.
MauriSmau
At the moment both needs to buy it. The app is very affordable (11.99$) but people have asked for a seat based approach which I am currently looking into
MauriSmau
Thank you! Turnip works look great too. The building part is amazing! Thanks for sharing
MauriSmau
haha nice! My daughter also like to decorate her maps. Are you playing it with the target frame rate at 120? You can set that in the settings. if you have a semi good computer that feels very nice!
Custom 3d terrain import is in scope, I am just afraid people would go crazy and start importing tons of little different textured models in their scene. That would make the scene heavy to transfer over with the current P2P networking system. If Adunata get traction I will consider moving it to a server based one.
Anyway these are great ideas. If you want consider joining Discord. I have a wishes and ideas section where you can propose yours, people vote it and I can keep track of them!

I was actually looking at some animated maps. A part for water, lava and a few other strictly ground related effects, for Adunata it might make more sense to have 3d effects like rain, rolling fog, fireflies, maybe trees' foliage moving a bit? Would that be a better option than animated 2d maps or you'd still use that instead?
MauriSmau
Thanks!! Hehe yes that's a good advice! I'll try. Feel free to join discord so you can vote and propose the right ones.
MauriSmau
Well... actually I optimize and convert large and heavy files like maps :P if everything is working as intended, you 35 MB map should just weight 1 or 2 Maximum. Hopefully you didn't notice any significant quality drop. I also apply a bit of bumpiness on maps via shader. 5 MB might be doable for an animated map though if you have a good internet connection. Maybe I could set a size limit...mmh how importabt this feature would be for you?
MauriSmau
Thanks! I'll definitely check out TaleSpire's licensing model
As for a demo, I don't have one set up just yet, but I'm looking into it. In the meantime, the best way to get a real feel for it is to check out the in-depth video guide on the Adunata YouTube channel. If you like what you see, you can always pick it up on Steam to test it out, if it's not for you, you can easily refund it within their 2-hour window and 14 days from purchase if I am not mistake.

Dragging and dropping is not supported yet but this is how you import 3d miniatures:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/hCZk9-BkgT0
For Paper mini the procedure is the same in the "My characters" menu but you can also do it directly on the table. Just drop a paper mini > right mouse button > paper mini > set texture.
Aniamated maps are not supported at the moment. Since Adunata networking is P2P for now, the size of assets really matters. How big are these usually?
MauriSmau
Hi! This most likely has to do with Rosetta. Could you try to open the terminal and paste this:
softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
Rosetta 2 is Apple's translator that lets Intel apps run on Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2 and later). It should not needed it but I had a similar case where it happened and this fixed it. I'll dig and try to release a fix in the next update but in the meantime this should fix it and let you play.
MauriSmau
Gotcha. I will look into that. Great feedback, thanks!
MauriSmau
Yep, I should really look into that. How does it work usually, the clients download a different "client" version of the app from steam? meaning I have to maintain 2 apps?
MauriSmau
That really means a lot, seriously. It's such a touchy topic right now, it's true, there's so much low-effort slop flooding the market, so hearing that distinction means a lot. Thanks for recognizing the effort!
MauriSmau
I'll definitely look into that. I added it to my to do list. Thanks for the heads-up! If it requires some sort of official agreement, which I also suspect it might, I'll probably need to build up a bit of a user base before they take me seriously... but hey, maybe I'm wrong.
MauriSmau
Thanks a lot!
Sigil looked amazing, but also like a lot of work to set up maps and everything. As a father of two, I knew I'd have to rely on premade maps, but I was still so excited for it. Then I saw they were using Unreal, and that raised my eyebrows A LOT! I was afraid it would be incredibly heavy to run, and yep... it was.
I've only built one app before this, so I'm not a software engineer by any means, but I feel like Unity or Godot would have been a wiser choice for a tool that needs to run easily across many different machines. I know Unreal can be optimized even for mobile, but it seemed like they wanted to go all-in on graphics at the expense of accessibility. Also It felt like they wanted to push way too much into the first release, creating a level of complexity that was just hard to manage. And on top of that (wild guess here) a bloated corporate structure probably made decision-making hell and caused their costs to explode.
Again, not an expert, I am a generalist/tech artist, take everything with a grain of salt!
MauriSmau
Thanks mate, it does. The mini needs to be <10k triangles but if you have a hi resolution model, I am planning to release a blender script to prep your mini to be Adunata compatible in one click, no 3d skill required.
MauriSmau
Ooof..yeah, I know what you mean. Don't get me wrong, some people loved that building aspect, I did enjoy it too but then kids arrived and now I barley have the time to play. Found myself running only premade maps but gave up at last when we switched master and he wanted to do something custom and didn't have the time and will to build there. Then we moved to roll20 but boy I missed the 3d immersion. Well, now we have the best of both worlds :)
MauriSmau
It is Italian but it means gathering.
MauriSmau
Yep, I added it to my to do list. Thanks for the feedback again! If you want I have a video guide on my YT channel. If you are curious and want to take a look at that, I'd love to hear if you have any other feedback or missing feature:

Thanks mate, very appreciated!
