Jerome Powell delivered a classic Powell performance today at the Economic Club of Chicago: calm, measured, “well-positioned to wait.” He acknowledged rising tariffs, a softening labor market, and persistent inflation above target — but still signaled patience.
This speech reads like textbook misdirection. And that’s not new.
⸻
Powell’s Pattern = Calm Tone, Data-Driven Action
We’ve charted Powell’s history (2018–2024), and over 75% of the time he downplays urgency publicly, then acts swiftly and decisively based on the data. He did this in 2019 under Trump pressure. He did it again in March 2020 when COVID hit. Even in late 2024, his tone was “neutral,” and the Fed still delivered a cut.
⸻
What the Data Actually Says Now: • Inflation: 2.4% and dropping • Unemployment: 4.2% and rising • Consumer Confidence: Cratering • Presidential Pressure: Trump is practically tweeting at the Fed daily • Tariffs: Powell himself says they’re larger than forecasted and may raise inflation
⸻
Our Thesis: The Cut is Coming — Likely 0.25% on May 7
Despite the measured speech, the setup is textbook for a 0.25% cut. Our weighted model, based on five macro indicators + presidential influence, gives it a 78% probability. Prediction markets (Kalshi, Robinhood) have it around 13%–16% — which is why we’re loaded into Robinhood’s 0.25% event contracts at $0.13.
⸻
TL;DR: Don’t mistake Powell’s patience for inaction. His speeches almost never reflect the actual move. If history is any guide, the Fed will follow the data, not the tone. We’re calling for a 0.25% cut on May 7 — and positioned for a 7x return if it happens.

Nope, he leased it when his plane was down. Google it. It’s just a plane.

Does anyone know how PJ’s business model works. You lease it out when you are not using it. Even people with their own jets have down time. So unless there is a picture of anyone doing something bad. It’s the same as booking a UBER Black. It what wealthy people do. Now if it was a freebie, use my jet so I can get close to you and maybe get you in a compromised position. Then there may be some smoke. Don’t get excited. Yet… we will see if there is anything.

We shut off the CC and told them to pound sand. We don’t have any PG on any of our lines so Fuck them.

I’m down$76 total on Nav. But on dividends total I’m +$122. So up + $45 all in.

I am so new to this. I dont know what version it came with. I need to probably start from scratch and flash the whole board. The indicator lights up when you install it on the zero and boot up then nothing. Like it is not even there.

Well I got out of my initial investment by $ amount. Still have about 1/2 of the original shares so got 75% appreciation and still will get some dividends with house money.
Only been here two years, but I’m looking for a grocery store that has a large and varied produce section. I got really spoiled in Texas with H-E-B. Please tell me of a specific location of a store with great produce, not just A chain name. Because every Publix is not the same as every other Publix, the same with Harris Teeter.
