Holy shit, that is weirdly accurate.

I personally wouldn't consider the desk to be a "peripheral"; to me a peripheral must always be something connected to some other primary device to extend its capabilities. The desk isn't part of the PC. But someone else mentioned it so I figured I'd throw that in because yeah, this thing's old.
Everyone's computer sits atop a 4.54B year old planet, anyway. Still, kinda rockin' to have a house that old, so long as it's not a nightmare to maintain.

Someone else mentioned the desk, and I suppose that would count for me too since I'm using one made in 1982 by my grandfather, but for electronics the oldest one would be a 20-inch Dell monitor made in 2006. I use it as a portrait-mode side screen left of my ultrawide. It's still always wild to think there's a 17 year age gap between the two screens. Still works great though and at the time it was a studio-grade display so it had IPS and decent colour depth.

A bully goes and knocks down kids on the playground all day. Goes uncontested for weeks of violence. Finally one day a kid shoves them off the playground equipment and bruises their ass, and now they run to the teacher to demand something be done about the attack.
On the plus side, maybe the fact that their own weapon can be turned back on them will finally mean people are willing to come to the table to talk about regulation. Though my pessimism predicts they'll just cut deals that define their use of AI as protected and everyone else's as a felony with a 20 year prison sentence attached.

Honestly, well done. I know it's already more expensive to get PC parts in the UK and EU to begin with, and you managed to eke out something that would cost me just about $1K CAD over here in North America and would match up with the computer my kid uses. That's not to denigrate it—I built their system for schoolwork and basic 1080p gaming for titles between 2015-2025, and it's held up quite well. I looked on PC Part Picker UK and usually for £200-300 it looks like you're barely getting workstation video cards or old models with 4-6 GB.

Around when the first big dust up happened the mod team added the ban-extended bot which allows for extra post-removal automation. I wonder if maybe they configured it too aggressively and now it's removing some of their own posts inadvertently. Looks like the OOP's post is reinstated and still pinned, at least on my view.
Of course, the addition of that bot is a little bit concerning in its own right, since that's the one that some subs use to nuke entire comment and post histories. It can be good for weeding out a genuine bad actor, but can also be used to completely rewrite history by eradicating one entire side of a story.

I'm a cishet guy and even I would get a kick out of that, even if it was just for a day or two. I know some people would be upset enough to keep a 100 MW molten salt reactor supplied for a whole damn year.

I like it! You're right that some of the past ones have been less than fully polished. Also checked your profile and I really like your art style. It reminds me of a certain kind of graphic novel I've read probably decades ago now, but I can't place it.

They outright permabanned and muted the guy. Even if they didn't reinstate them as mod, it feels like at least they should let the guy back in and offer a basic "sorry, choom".

Almost every time there's a post about Claire there's transphobes that crawl out of the woodwork to either make inappropriate jokes about her or to espouse outright hatred.

FIB: "Meaning it's got a kink in it. Total write off. Your rates are gonna go up."
Starfleet: "We can't afford that right now!"
FIB: "Listen, we can give you fair market value for it but the Blue Book for an Odyssey isn't great. Have you considered renaming a used ship?

Remember when Obama was said to have sullied the office of the president by wearing a tan suit? Or when Biden was deemed unfit for office for eating ice cream?
The US has a president who uses words like "shithouse" in official presentations.

I've got the 9800X3D with a Peerless Assassin 120 for air cooling. It's plenty for the thing even with PBO boosting it, especially since it seems like it's pretty tolerant of staying fast even when undervolted. So yeah, a top-spec air cooler should be totally fine for you.

I'd say if anything, these are "volcels". The "in" usually means "involuntary", and the whole concept is that they're steamed about not getting any. It gets bizarre when you've got the same base mindset and anti-women trappings but deliberately going out of their way to condemn sex entirely.

Just wanted to contextualize it from the stance of someone on the "would-be promoter" side. Otherwise people probably could've chalked it up as blind Apple hate. I'm merely saying, "hey, I like some of their other stuff, but this shit sucks", since there's a lot of people going to bat for the trillion dollar company on this dumb phone.

I'll forgive the trigger discipline simply on the basis that the Gunners only really pretend to be a proper military/mercenary group, when really they're mostly just raiders with better gear.
Edited to add: not trying to denigrate the costume at all, to be clear. Your outfit is absolutely on point.

And the instant the Democrats have a presidency, it'll instantly be "It's day 1 and the Democrats haven't done a single thing to clean up the utter disaster that is this country! Unfit to lead!" from the Republican camp. Same M.O. as usual: wreck the place, set multiple fires, and then complain that the firefighters aren't doing enough.

In July she finally managed to get $5.8M. She's still owed $83M separately which is being appealed to death (because Trump) but it's a start.

I bought an extra 32 GB of RAM in early 2025. I almost didn't, because the kit had gone up $30 CAD in price (to $160) and I thought that maybe I should wait for a sale, but since I was already in the store I figured I'd go for it. Had no idea what I'd have been facing if I didn't make the purchase that day.
The same exact kit is $800+ edit: $1060 now at the same retailer.

IP68 rating goes brrrrr. Coincidentally the same sound the robot buzzsaws make as they cut through your door.

Hey, decently big Apple fan here. Just wanted to say I still think folding phones are stupid for these exact kinds of reasons, regardless who makes them. Any time you add a moving part to a device you introduce a point of failure. We spent so long going towards solid state and then for some reason people thought we needed mechanized gimmicks again and now we have fragile hinges on a device that costs more than a laptop.
Just wanted to offset some of the Apple glazing from someone who has had Apple devices since the Macintosh Centris.

If they're actual antennas (not just fake decorative ones for marketing purposes), then the signal they cast is usually toroidal in nature and positioning them can help cover a larger area. American houses very often tend to sprawl. A short-range hidden antenna might be sufficient for an urban condo, but a long ranch-style bungalow or a three-storey split level may need some directionality to help the signal especially if it's not coming from a central location.
Even in my small-ish North American townhouse, I can definitely change the behavior of my network based on how I move the antennas; some positions will extend the coverage to my upper floor better than others, and one particular antenna's position seems to directly influence whether the signal reaches my parking space out front or not at all.
OP is a repost bot. This post was a high-scorer 1 year ago with the exact same title.
