"While these investments may deliver whole-of-life value for money, sustainability and the opportunity to improve operational safety, they are not currently included within the funded baseline programme because they fall outside the minimum viable scope."
This really sums up how the current government operates: an obsessive focus on slashing costs, even if the result will cost us more in the long run. This is not fiscal conservatism, it's pure stupidity.
Merlord
Just dragging it out until Labour gets into government, then they can take the blame for the cost blowout.

She's a way better character here. She is still loyal to Paul the man, she is resisting Paul the Emperor, which makes so much sense for her character. It's a genius move by Denis.
Merlord
No it doesn't...

Tarquin is in another time zone!
Merlord
This is cool but... This is how all procedural generation works. "Any text" is just a seed
Merlord
The slo-mo to aim in the middle of a close quarters dodge looks so epic, I don't think I've seen it done like that before. This looks incredibly fun
Merlord
Well this is a very old Atlas, NZ hadn't been invented yet. That's why it's called New Zealand.
Merlord
You can even hear him say "did you bring me to your sister?"
Reddit absolutely sucks now. Like it has sucked for a while but it somehow manages to out suck itself over and over again.
Merlord
Exactly, its not their fault!
But on a serious note, the game looks amazing. I'll be checking it out

Poor sharks :'(

The "first phone call to the party with the most seats" is meaningless. Every party talks shit about who they will and won't work with, at the end of the day they will use every bit of leverage they have.
Merlord
That's not what they said at all
Merlord
Man, look at that TOP party vote trend-line too. It would take a lot for that to suddenly reverse
Merlord
Right, but that's not going to happen. They are not going to drop to 0% on election day. "Best" case scenario of supporting a "don't vote for TOP" strategy is they get like 3%. That other 2% split somewhere between left and right bloc, even if it leaned heavily left, probably not enough to tip the scales. This is what every poll in the last 4 months has suggested.
I think if you don't like TOP's policies at all, vote for Green or whoever. I am a long-time green supporter, but I also like a lot of TOP's policies, and I would prefer a left coalition that includes TOP over one that doesn't.
Merlord
But they said they don’t intend speaking with both sides in order to get the most concessions.
I believe that as much as I believe Luxon refusing to pick up the phone from TOP. It would just be an insane thing to do, throwing away all your leverage for no reason.
Merlord
Yeah people forget its not just Luxon who has to negotiate with TOP. They'll have to somehow give TOP more than Labour, AND get Act and NZ First to agree to those concessions. Seems nearly impossible, and if it did happen, the resulting government would be far more centre-leaning than the current one.
Merlord
I vote, and engage in discussions like this one, because I believe in collective power. My single vote wont do anything on its own. But I'm not the only one making these decisions.
If strategic voting was impossible, Te Pāti Māori's one-person party list strategy wouldn't having any chance of working. But it does, so you're wrong.
Merlord
Merlord
Why? As you say, your single vote won't change anything.
Merlord
Then I guess you might as well not vote at all.
Merlord
This and every other poll over the last few months except for a single Reid Research poll
Merlord
This whole "we will call whoever has the most seats first" schtick is a bit of theatre, they will obviously talk to both parties and go with whoever gives them the most concessions during negotiations.
Merlord
People may worry about Opportunity siding with National, but if they don't hit 5%, the National coalition wins anyway.
As a long-time Green voter, I'm seriously considering a strategic vote to get those clowns out of government.
Adorable! Glad she's okay now. They really are clumsy little gremlins
