That is probably part of it. Seinfeld pushed the envelope at the time, and created narcissistic characters that were not common on main stream television. They rarely wrapped up episodes with a happy, positive conclusion like most shows would. Some early episodes would end on a positive note, and they don’t hit right. Seinfeld paved the way for shows like Always Sunny, South Park and Arrested Development.

Restaurants hire people to clean up and wipe down tables after a meal. If I decide to just smear ketchup and dump a milkshake all over the table, then claim “they employ people to clean”, I’m a fucking asshole.
