Hardwired WAP'S (Wi-Fi Access Point) IS the only viable option for least maintenance. Many many stories of people here tired of the slow or irregular speeds or just problems with their "mesh" system and want to hardwire.
MrMotofy
Can you...sure but it's not necessarily the right way. The cat 5 you have will give you 10Gb. So you don't really gain anything but more time and money costs.
Ideally should be solid conductors cable, then terminate in a wall jack. 6a is overkill for a home. Then all room cables should run to a centralized location and be terminated in a patch panel of some type where patch cords connect to a main switch. Connecting room to room is illogical

@rw_mega no real reason to use plenum rated in an attic

We don't even know now what IP'S you're using or if it is or isn't internet. What you router/rule settings are etc

FYI...if you want to check out Linux it's really easy. Step 1 Make a copy of your data separate from your computer. Step 2 Make a copy of your data. Step 3 refer to step 1 Make an Install USB, then boot to it. May need to disable secure boot. Most Distros will boot to a full running temporary Linux Desktop...installing requires clicking the desktop icon and going through steps. Obviously you don't wanna do that to just try it. But you can at least get a feel for it. Kubuntu, LinuxMint, and PopOS and are some of the top 1st options. You can also use the temp Live Linux as a repair process. Since it’s a complete desktop you can use it, install tools needed fix the boot etc.
Another convenient related tool is Ventoy on a USB stick. Basically just burn the ISO/IMG to a USB then copy your OS ISO/IMG (Operating System) ISO to it and when you boot it any ISO/IMG on the drive will show in the menu, select it and it will boot that img. Have different OS’s multiple versions or whatever.
Best option for Windows and Linux is dual boot...use Linux on a 2nd drive. Usually you wanna disable secure boot. Install windows first if using same drive but best case is disconnect win drive. Then boot to the install USB. Then install Linux as a new full system on a 2nd drive. Set Linux drive as the first boot drive and it will then find the Win drive and add to the boot menu list automatically. Might take a couple boots otherwise can manually activate the boot update search. Then you get Best of both worlds without any real dangers to either OS. There will be little hiccups occasionally with Windows updating messing with boot and rebooting. But you can also change the default OS to Windows first at the menu after delay and no menu entry and that eliminates a lot. The boot menu is usually Linux 1 and Win 2. Sometimes the boot order will randomly switch drives etc or it will enable Secure Boot…Seems to be a windows thing with updates now they get bios access. But really depends on the exact system and age etc.

Preterminated outdoor fiber cable ideally in conduit. Do it once and be done for decades

You want as much wired as you can. Mobil internet is usable...but rarely compares to a wired connection. You'd have to see if cable internet is available. None of us know the location so can't tell you how good a mobile signal would be...there's a hundred factors in that.

Watch a vid...Zerotier is easier setup than Tailscale but they're only used for remote access outside your home. Not needed for local access.
You're basically looking for a NAS. Leave it on...booting everything you need something gets old
MrMotofy
Can it be done...yes but requires more advanced switches and hardware...not advisable in your situation.
Best option is plan on expanding your wired network. Centralize a termination point ideally in your basement/Utilities/comms area. All room jacks are homeruns to that point. Put your router there then add cat 6 runs to rest of the house and an outdor WAP (Wi-Fi Access Point) pick a wired WAP system like Unifi, Omada Ruckus etc...done right and you'll wonder how you ever suffered with anything else
Individuals are here daily asking how they can patch more bad ways on top of what they have cuz it's easier. Then they come back complaining how poorly it's still going. Yes it's easy and lazy to use all the Wi-Fi but it's getting worse coverage wise and density due to physics.

You can always install any compatible OS over another OS. For windows you may need to format over or clear disk from other formats first before windows will do anything
MrMotofy
Go on Marketplace pick up a used one for $25-50 and transfer it over or parallel the tanks
MrMotofy
Better off to run a preterminated fiber cable to shop into a switch then an outdoor WAP (Wi-Fi Access Point) on outside of shop
MrMotofy
Addl routers just need to be in AP mode or configured accordingly

Well what kinda costs and time is data loss worth? I mean you probably lose more than that in the car insurance each year for the just in case
Technically you could probably buy then return it although it's kinda frowned upon...really should have another copy of important data anyway

Post a notice on the door or just inside...that video surveillance on premises. That covers you legally...the just have a couple cams that record audio too. Don't aim them at obvious privacy areas. Most people forget about em after a few days. Cops are getting caught planting evidence etc on bodycams everyday cuz they just forget it's all on video
MrMotofy
When that major of an update occurs yes it's usually better and faster to do just do a fresh install

@Due-Result7928 yep you'd know I have NO experience with ignorance
MrMotofy
@Due-Result7928 Who cares about this made up recipe you claim it's irrelevant and meaningless. Partitions are easy to get screwed up especially moving things and dual booting etc especially when a newbie is clicking things they don't understand making mistakes or whatever. It's the highest likelihood to lose your data that way
MrMotofy
No...but if you're neighborly you could share internet with Y our neighbors and cancel
