I mean from prisons...

I actually very much bring this up because it's not like getting rid of trans men/women actually solves this issue... Minus the issue of the trans people doing the assaulting.

"Transgender men recorded the highest rate of institutional incidents (91% involved in at least one incident; 56% involved in 5 or more). However, CSC noted that nearly three-quarters of these incidents were non-violent (e.g., behavioral friction, contraband, property damage).

Transgender women had a lower overall incident rate (64% involved in an institutional incident)."

To attack this issue just as a trans thing is a disservice to SA'd people in both men and womens prison.

It wasn't safe before that and to make it worse by avoiding the conversation we defs are not making mens prison safer...

Let's talk about a broken system before shitting on each other. We're fucking Canadians eh.

N3rdScool

Protect the space by looking at why its not safe... We can argue men are men or whatever forever as I am sure most people who follow these sites would, that's their demographic.

N3rdScool

The solution would be to have a real discussion about it not bring this rage bait article. But it's just doing what it was built to do.

This is just business as usual.

Obviously I think it's all terrible... but that's not what this is about.

N3rdScool

nor does any news article. so weird

N3rdScool

Truly fascinating that this only happens with trans people... or wait do we document ALL the sexual assault that happens in jail? lol

That's straight abuse. I am sorry you are going through that <3

The problem is they rebuilt the condos in the area but the homeless problem never left so these people probably pay outrageous rent and are stuck with homeless people outside.

At least that's the grossness I see, gentrification at its finest.

Speedy recovery and thanks for sharing.

I think as long as you stay out of the niche subreddits where there is just love or hate towards whatever it's about, you'll find lots of humans. And Reddit loves to call out AI shit.

N3rdScool

1. Domestic Adoption (Quebec-born children)

Adoptions handled through the Director of Youth Protection (DYP)—which includes both "Regular Adoption" and the "Banque Mixte" (Mixed Bank) program—are largely funded by the provincial government.

  • Service Fees: There are no fees for the psychosocial assessment, the child’s placement, or the administrative services provided by the CISSS or CIUSSS.
  • Legal Fees: You may need to pay for a lawyer to file the motion for the adoption judgment in court. However, these costs are often modest, and some families may qualify for legal aid.
  • Other Expenses: You are responsible for the child's daily needs (food, clothing, etc.) once they are placed with you, similar to any other parent.

2. International Adoption

This is the most expensive route, as it involves multiple agencies and foreign governments. Costs typically range from $20,000 to $50,000+ CAD.

  • Psychosocial Assessment: Unlike domestic adoption, you must pay for a private assessment conducted by a certified professional. This usually costs between $2,000 and $3,000.
  • Certified Bodies (Agencies): You must work with an accredited agency in Quebec. Their coordination fees generally range from $5,000 to $10,000.
  • Foreign Country Fees: This includes fees for the orphanage, local lawyers, and governmental processing in the child’s country of origin.
  • Secrétariat aux services internationaux à l’enfant (SASIE): There is a fixed administrative fee payable to the Quebec government for processing international files (approx. $500 - $600).
  • Travel and Logistics: You should budget for flights, accommodations, and potentially multiple weeks of stay in the child's home country, as well as translation fees for legal documents.

3. Adoption of a Child from Another Province

If you adopt from a different Canadian province, costs are higher than local Quebec adoptions but lower than international ones. You will likely pay for:

  • A private psychosocial assessment.
  • Interprovincial administrative fees.
  • Legal fees in both provinces.

Financial Support & Tax Credits

Regardless of the path chosen, residents of Quebec can often offset some costs through:

  • Quebec Adoption Tax Credit: A refundable tax credit that covers a percentage of eligible adoption expenses (legal fees, travel, etc.).
  • Federal Adoption Tax Credit: A non-refundable credit for eligible expenses.
  • Paid Leave: Adoptive parents in Quebec are eligible for parental leave benefits through the Quebec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP).
