My parents are absolutely wonderful, and my only stress comes from my own mental conditions like depression and autism, and more recently PTSD. I used the pepper because I thought it would clear my sinuses and the ice because I thought it would numb my throat, not to replace the feeling, it just didn't work. I really can't find a better answer for why I feel like this other than life simply not promising enough to be worth more than getting rid of a sore throat however possible.

This is dialogue from Spinning Top, Watcher's Echo, the second time you ever meet them. It confirms that there are multiple "strands" where Watcher has died, but they are alive in this current one.

Watcher DLC confirms that, when a creature dies, they're split into a different timeline where they lived while staying dead in that one timeline. Artificer's pups both woke up again with her, and Artificer was probably completely unaware of them dying in that timeline. Meanwhile, because Artificer slept in a shelter after they'd died without dying herself, she was locked into that timeline.

Nontheless, worth a read, and it's pretty long. It's about the Iterators all being off their strings and interacting after what happened in the lore, with the slugcats like their pet cats.

The Quantum Immortality theory was entirely confirmed by Spinning Top in the Watcher DLC, so early on that I wouldn't even consider it a spoiler. They mention seeing several "strands" in which Watcher died, that Watcher is unaware of.

I think the overcrowding issue was just because they'd all evolved so much that they were too good at not dying. They didn't really have natural predators.

I saw one of these in the forest outside my old house, it had red fur I think though. It was really fast, so I didn't get a good look. I wonder if it might've been going somewhere in a hurry, maybe to a den or pups?

I will say, you never end up in unavoidable situations like you do in Rain World. I think getting attached to the expie and feeling bad about it is a very key part of the game, because it encourages you to do better
