... Now I have to rebuild my Super Destroyer ...

NeonJ82

Here's the thing: I also don't want them gone entirely! I just want them less common than usual (well, except Nytro and Nebulys anyway - I've already seen their story, they can go)

Not only that, but I'm pretty sure the mod also removes the standard "Name in Game" entries too, which aren't common enough that I ever want them removed. The only thing I really want changed is that Backer pawns (the ones with custom backstories) should appear less often.

NeonJ82

I wonder if it's possible to blacklist certain names? Both Erik "Nytro" Nystrom and Nebulys Strike appear way too much in my playthroughs, I'd much rather each name be unique.

NeonJ82

I think that specifically applied to enchantments, while Tedd's self-morph isn't an enchantment but rather a complete changing of self.

NeonJ82

That explains why the hair is different each comic!

Maybe not 100% of the time (some of the recent features like The Swarm and the Colossus expedition were poorly recieved), but... still a very high number, and I'd much rather have the chance to test out ideas which don't turn out well (as much as I loved the Colossus stuff myself) rather than be blindsided by them in the new game.

Also, as it's free, if it doesn't turn out well... oh well, I'll just come back next update. I can't be expected to like every part of the game.

They didn't try to scale their company infinitely. They made a lot of money from the initial launch, and a lot of money from people joining the game after the updates now that it's actually good. The amount of money they made is likely enough to keep their company afloat for a good while, so long as they don't increase their costs by growing too much. Not only that, but they have no shareholders, they answer to no-one but themselves. They can afford to have a temporary lull in profits to generate goodwill and a loyal fanbase, ready to dive on their next game. Shareholders don't like that (they want money now), but there aren't any here.

Not only that, but the game releasing on new systems (Xbox, Switch 1+2, iOS...) also incentivises some people to purchase the game multiple times, especially when Crossplay and Cross-Progression are on the table. One player is able to stop playing on their PC, continue their progress on their Switch 2, and connect to their friend on Xbox to explore together.

Plus, a lot of the updates recently have also been tech that the team are using for Light No Fire. That they're able to use the tech for both games not only keeps peoples interest high for No Man's Sky (incentivising new players to check out the game even after 10 years), but also lets them efficiently work on Light No Fire in tandem.

Most Console manufacturers have a testing system for new games and updates because they really don't want exploits which allow users to run arbitrary code on their systems, because it could open the doors to things like hacks or piracy. (Whereas on PC, you can just run whatever code you want anyway outside of the game, so it's a non-issue.) This is why updates take so long on console - the certification process.

DSi isn't really it's own generation, it's part of the DS era in the same way that the Game Boy Micro is part of the GBA era, or the New 3DS is part of the 3DS era.

Though yeah, I do understand the confusion. They are similarly named.

Odyssey DLC.

Plant an archean tree, and the area around the tree becomes fertile soil. It doesn't even need to be planted on normal soil - it'll even turn solid stone into fertile soil if you want it to. (It's designed for you to be able to terraform asteroids and make farms in orbit, but you can totally use it planetside, too.)

Probably a bit too many hoops to jump through for most players, but hey - that's how the game was balanced.

The GitHub page lists Claude as a contributor.

Yeah, a recent Steam update broke cloud saves, it seems. Make sure to select LOCAL every time you boot up the game (unless you're loading the game from a different system), or just turn off cloud saves entirely.

While there isn't an option to directly import character designs, one of the options in the character creation menu is "Character Details", which gives you values for every single slider in the character creation menu. This applies to both Hunters and Palicoes.

When sharing designs online, people will often share the 4 Character Details pages. If you copy all the values, you'll get an exact copy of the character. This can also be used to make a copy of your PC/PS5/XBS character on NS2.

3DS, not DS. DS is an entirely different (and much weaker) console.

NeonJ82

It's extra stuff! Most of it is just side content with no relation to the plot, and half of it is non-canon anyway. But - congratulations! You got a lot more comics to read now!

NeonJ82

Compound!

It's a retro-aesthetic shooter, but it works so well in VR. It doesn't feel like some vision the programmers couldn't achieve, it set out to do something simple, and did exactly that.

Compound's always the game I boot up when I just need a quick dose of VR fun without faffing around with settings or having things bug out in unwanted ways. It's just a fun little arcadey shooter from the early VR days.

Maaan, this one saddens me. I know Zenith kinda just died the past few years, but it's still sad to see it truly go, given how much I enjoyed the game when it launched.

Here's hoping we get a private server in the future - they seem to be hot lately, if OrbusVR, A Township Tale and Dauntless are any indication. Fingers crossed!

NeonJ82

Doesn't A Township Tale use the same voice chat plugin? They got private servers set up for that game perfectly fine.

NeonJ82

I'm surprised it isn't a Korvax system with how many bots are around nowadays

NeonJ82

Honestly, I miss the days when games would poke fun at the player for cheating... but still let them do it.

Now games either don't have cheats at all, have them through external unofficial tools, or sell them as MTX. Bleh.

NeonJ82

Isn't it Menu+Trigger on the Index, not Menu+A?

NeonJ82

I do want to point out that Redstone Flux was literally just a replacement for Minecraft Joules (BuildCraft) with the numbers multiplied by 10. That's it. (Pretty sure it was a lot easier to work with, though...)

Even after all this time, we're still basically using MJ by a different name.

NeonJ82

Honestly, I want more difficult Risk Vectors if only because my current thought process to upgrades is currently "Pick Extra Workbench, unless it has Lethal Enemies" and I'd really like that to change.
