So Mechwarrior 5 was my first major experience with the game, and while I was familiar with some of the mecha in the game beforehand I had never heard of the Stalker, but it was the first assault mech I picked up and I fell in love with the thing.
Buddy gets me into the tabletop a little bit and my record against him so far (and this has been someone who's been playing the tabletop since the late '80s) had been 0-3. One of those losses was a 2v2 with him and his wife and me paired up with a mutual friend of his who had been playing the tabletop just as long. His wife's cataphract alpha striked my Warhammer and caused me to go critical. She even admits she didn't expect that to happen but the dice definitely favored her that round.
I finally got a win in against this dude making the score 1-4 but I'll take it. Went to a lan party with him and we agreed to a 1v1 duel while we waited for people to show up. I picked a late model stalker and he picked some Blakest mech cuz it had some Tech I hadn't fought against yet. On the third round right before he closed the distance with me I alpha striked with the lasers and srms and managed to get a headshot.

I had a social studies/gov teacher that way in highschool and he had the whole class take a political alignment quiz. Most class got R or D, I got libertarian and best friend got green party, teacher had a field day with us two.
Now years later after getting a history degree (and moving more to the left/away from the sovereign citizens in the libertarian party), I was briefly a full time substitute teacher for a high school while they looked for a new teacher (I was considering a state program to become a teacher and was trying out teaching as a substitute first).
Said the same thing to my students, layed out my political belief journey for the kids and tried to explain how and why I changed, but how what iv experienced shouldn't dictate what they should view for their own political beliefs.
What I didn't know is the assistant principal was listening outside my door. He later told me "I wish most of my teachers wouldn't bring there political beliefs into their classrooms and layout any possible biases".

Can't escape it, the slop is everywhere. It's not that people who don't like it don't use it, its the fact that people who don't have issue with it are flooding everything with it. I went to find a clip from a movie and I couldn't find just an original cut of the scene, but found plenty of ai "enhanced" scenes (usually with shitty dubstep remix at the end) or ai voice overviews. I was just talking about a movie and a friend and I disagreed what happened but neither of us could find a not AI slopified part of the movie

If the Skyraider is anything to go by from what I've heard, the Air Force as all but forgotten how to fly tail draggers as it is... maybe that should be fixed first before bringing back vintage tail draggers

When I was in college, it was at a branch location of a major State University, but this Branch was kind of small. They had overbooked a calculus class and had brought in a teacher from outside the school to teach the overflow. Instructor was army reservist and was retired. Over 2/3 of the class was on the GI bill in one form or another. Only one guy in the whole class had actually seen any combat, and only happened twice (brown water Navy in the few rivers in Iraq).
I think I learned more about how dysfunctional the military is than actual calculus, but hey I got a passing grade even though I still couldn't do it to this day, so I guess I owe the military industrial complex for me passing calculus.

I did this with those popular formula 1 calendars you see on maker space. Sent the calendar and a little F1 logo to a buddy of mine for Christmas last year. He had invited me to his formula 1 League, I don't know much about F1, having grown up more around NASCAR but it was fun (I just picked cars and drivers at random and one of my teams did halfway decent). Beginning of this month I brought him the next season's calendar since I was attending his wedding as a groomsman. His dad was also excited because he also likes F1 and didn't know who got him the calendar.

I didn't know about that with red kidney beans, so I learned something new today

I know it can be more expensive but I actually find trains easier to set up than trucks, you don't have to worry about fuel logistics and you can use the train track as a part of the power grid if if you don't want to run the power lines out.
Ninja67
I mean how else are you going to cover the map with trains moving things around?

Yeah with how much I see of the Ukraine conflict compared to whatever is going on in Iran I have kind of assumed there's been a bit of a media blackout for that conflict. I'm sure there is stuff you could see if you go looking but as far as casual consumption of such content it seems like a stark of contrast

So when I had a PlayStation 1 growing up, my uncle would call at my parents and ask what game I was playing and go look up the cheatcc.com and when he stopped by I would keep all the cheat codes in a binder. I lost the binder so I tried remembering what website he was, ended up asking my uncle but I forgot the website one day and went to cheat.com. It asked if I was 18, I wasn't, I clicked yes because I thought since some of the games my parents let me have were m-rated and so if I wanted some of those cheat codes back I would have to lie, and proceeded to panic when I found it was actually a hookup website or a cheat kink porn site I don't remember which. I hit the back button thinking maybe the no button was for the cheat codes were under the no portion of the if I was over 18 or not. I was extremely pissed that instead it took me to Hasbro toy's website.

I know the summoner is beloved by many, but for some reason that design just... doesn't sit right with me. The different arms just feel like it was done just so they could say it asymmetrical for the sake of being asymmetrical, instead of being asymmetrical for a purpose. Thunderbolt, love it, Corsair, it's made of scrap so there's not going to be design consistency, Bushwacker, at least they're different weapon systems with missiles being on one arm. Summoner however, I'm not sure which arm is the canon arm in which one is the PPC, at least at first glance. And if I can't tell at first glance what the difference between the two are, then I guess for some reason it bothers me that the arms are not symmetrical.

Depending on how big of a call out that day turns out to be, I wonder if it'll be used in as an example by..... certain political parties as yet another reason why the United States has too many days off for workers

I remember at my last job I was work from home, but the employer still wanted me to wear a polo for any time I was going to be on a webcam because it wasn't fair to those in the office if I wasn't held to the same dress standard. I hate wearing polos so I was getting two dirty shirts everyday since I would change after work. Eventually figured out I wasn't going to be in enough meetings so I'd just wear my tshirts and switch to a polo when needed I kept by the desk.

I had a cup holder that would sit in the CD drive bay of some of my older computers, and used it once or twice as a cup holder at Lan parties but most often it just served as a headset holder
Ninja67
I would see if you know someone with a 3D printer if you don't have one yourself, I've seen someone make a cat hammock they put on top of the computer to keep them off of it.
Ninja67
Well I'd love to hear what you think a better analogy would be if you feel so strongly about it.
Ninja67
Well okay you can disagree with me but damn why'd you have to say it's the worst you've read in a long time as far as analogies go. Yeah I could have done better sure, but I think when it comes to fully modifying bambu versus other brands they're probably a little bit more walled garden than other variety.
Ninja67
You know what that's fair, maybe a better analogy would be replace mustang with John Deere. You can more or less still buy parts for older John Deere tractors and newer John Deere tractors, but it's the software where deer gets a little annoying to deal with. Although I guess with the older one some parts are harder to get a hold of these days. (The whole right to repair thing with John Deere I think one thing the media doesn't get right is that you can work on your John Deere tractor, it's just the part where any of the parts involving electronics get involved that may or may not require a service tech, a lot of the day-to-day maintenance and repair farmers can still do).
Ninja67
I think a good analogy would be, would you prefer a mustang built in 1967, where there are no electronic restrictions and you can tinker and modify with it as much as you want, or would you prefer a 2026 electric mustang where any service needs to go to the dealership and there are severe restrictions in what you can modify. Both drive but what sort of experience are you looking for when it comes to maintenance and operate in the machine? Think of the '67 mustang as an open source custom built printer and bambu being the 2026 model, and you can maybe put the other manufacturer of printers somewhere in the '80s or '90s or mid-2010s. They all drive just depends what sort of driving experience you want
Ninja67
I think you end up with two types of "hater" where they're just told to dislike something or they never liked it to begin with because it was popular, and when that item of their disdain has a negative trait they will blow it out of proportion and preach to the high heavens and anyone that will listen about how bad the thing is because of the negative factor. That's group one.
I own several bambus, started off on an anchor make, just picked up a snap maker. They really do have a very good out of box and get going experience compared to some other brands, but they're walled Garden, not supportive of OpenSource stance is definitely something I find concerning. For me it's not enough to be dissuaded from how good the product is itself, but for some other people they might be willing to put up with a less refined but open source experience. And that would be grouped two. I'm sure there is a little bit of overlap between group one and two, and I think group 2 is right to have their concerns with bambu and I wouldn't disparage anyone for deciding not to go with bamboo if they do truly want to be more supportive of brands that are more in line with open source.

Hard to say until we know more details, it might be the p3c instead of the x3c because they want to compete with snapmaker u1 and might be priced just at $999 but maybe to get it to that price they have to cut some of the X features out like a heated chamber or something. And then have the h3c to go after prusa there with their bigger multi nozzle printer. Pure speculation on my part though.
