“Update: I did it in the pool”

What I’m learning from this is “aim high”

Scientists once tried to figure out what a T-Rex tasted like and reasoned that as an apex predator it would taste like shit and probably poison you from the accumulated heavy metals, I have to imagine this is similar

Thanks a ton, I appreciate the sympathy

Thanks! Do you happen to know if I would still be bound to the 60-day notice, or if I could just leave?

In the Discworld books there are spirits called Hivers that possesses people and pushes them into megalomania and eventual madness, driving them to indulge in all their impulses.

Eventually we see their perspective and it turns out that they exist perpetually in this kind of state, constantly aware of raw, unfiltered reality and to them it’s a living hell. They possess others to shield themselves from that because our unconscious protects us from reality, but they don’t quite understand it so they make our unconscious desires conscious when normally we would quell them. Ironically they don’t understand why we can’t survive that, so they burn through body after body trying to find protection from their unending awareness.

By the end the heroine can only help it by effectively euthanizing it, sending it to the afterlife to end its suffering

I watched about three minutes of this movie when I was little, when they go into a nightmare and he’s a carrot on an operating table. I didn’t get to see any more but assumed the rest of the movie was the same vibe.
Years later I finally got to check it out and was sorely disappointed

There’s a sadder theory too:

Card has claimed that homosexuality is caused by being abused as a child, and he’s also admitted that Ender’s relationship with Peter was based on his own relationship with his abusive brother. So it’s possible that he believes gayness was inflicted upon him, and it’s his duty to suppress it and stop the cycle because he associates it with abuse.

Or maybe I’m just wildly speculating on the inner life of an intolerant man.

It almost looks like she was going in for a stab but Qimir was ready for it. He was going to slash at her but Sol intercepted it, saving her but getting in between them so her attack was spoiled and she didn’t know what to do.

See I thought the opposite, he gets away but loses his girlfriend, his child, and his father figure. The cops still hate his guts because he got Michael Sheen killed. Even his random neighbor pulls her dog away like she can smell the stain on him. He steps into the empty apartment of his hollowed out life, and when he sees his death coming all he can muster up is a resigned “…okay.”

I can fix him

IIRC the Inuits only had driftwood to work with which was extremely weak, so they created cable-back bows that had ropes strapped to the outer edge to keep them from snapping

I don’t usually like big slow weapons, but I break this one out whenever I really need to put the hurt on a boss

“And as the horde of Tyranids dragged her power armor down I was already running down the ramp, screaming as I charged the Tyrant alone, but, uh, I only did it because I knew the ship wouldn’t take off without her”

I just wish he had a bit less greebles and a bit more flat steel plating, his design was just too busy for me

I remember watching Inception in theaters and when it ended with the top spinning people lost their fucking minds

One of my favorites is the Perforated Baton, a tool that crops up all over prehistoric Europe but no one can agree what exactly it was used for.

It’s always the same shape, a baton made of antler with an offshoot at one end and at least one hole drilled through the middle. They originally thought it was used as a symbol of authority, but now possible uses range from arrow-straightener to spear-thrower to rope-maker to calendar. One archaeologist was like “I mean it would be disingenuous to not consider use as a dildo, but come on.”

I had a big breakthrough when I realized people like this don’t actually want you to follow their rules, they want to get mad at you for breaking them.

TBF it could mean a unit that serves the same role as cavalry: big, fast-moving line breakers
