Good question. Personally I am not a defender or supporter of Israel, and I recognize the plight of Palestinians, but the anti-Zionist / pro-Palestine movement has not given an answer to that I can accept as adequate. There are different possible answers, though. Next time you hear someone chanting “from the river to the sea” try asking them what solution they envision.

Edit: wow, if this sub is actually advocating for the elimination of Israel, then I think that is way too extreme. I’m kind of speechless, frankly.
That shouldn’t be too surprising. That is an extremely common position within anti-Israel/anti-Zionist, pro-Palestine advocacy. Not the only one, but seemingly the loudest one right now.
The full slogan “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is calling for the dissolution of the current state of Israel to be replaced with a new Palestine.

LLMs are not a truth-telling technology.

I don’t know the full answer to that, but I see that McGill does have institutional ties to China/Chinese universities which is why I questioned whether there are the same sort of activism and protests about that.
NoNudeNormal
I don’t have enough solid data to confirm or deny that. Do you have a specific reason why you concluded that?
NoNudeNormal
Googling around shows me that McGill has plenty of ties to China and Chinese institutions.

The accusations of genocide being perpetrated by Israel seem to get a lot more attention from Canada’s media/politics/institutions/activists/social media than the situations in Myanmar, Sudan, Congo, or China. Ukraine got a lot of attention at first but seems to be no longer considered trendy, even though their war is still an ongoing and utmost serious situation.
For example, is the same group within McGill pushing to boycott and divest from China?
NoNudeNormal
Just saying that on Reddit doesn’t help Palestinians one iota. It’s gross to borrow their plight for your own self-aggrandizement.

If there is no bigotry involved here then why do you need to use a special Jewish-coded word for propaganda, “hasbara”? You could just say propaganda.
NoNudeNormal
In order to blame or associate all Jews around the world with the actions of Israel’s government or military someone must already have a preexisting antisemitic bias. Otherwise they would realize that Jews are individuals and not all collectively culpable for what each other do.

A voter’s motivation may be to vote for a party or policy, but in Canada we vote for candidates for MPs, and they are able to choose or change their party affiliations. That’s how our system works in reality, even if you think it should work some other way.
NoNudeNormal
The easiest fix here is to understand how our voting system actually works.

Kesha has recently said she supports Kim in her ongoing issues with her label. If she supports Kim then you and others are not defending Kesha by shitting on Kim in every single thread about her here. Get a new shtick.
NoNudeNormal
What is the purpose of framing the topic in this way, ED vs Endometriosis, except to be inflammatory?
NoNudeNormal
Now let’s all give this loser zero attention forever
NoNudeNormal
Her making fun of Kesha being abused was not ever a real thing, and the fact that people have felt the need to post that misinfo in every thread about Kim here for years on end doesn’t change that.
NoNudeNormal
No offense, but Kim has spread some absolutely vile misinformation on social media and actively claimed that Kesha was never abused.
False. She gave the only diplomatic answers she could to interview questions she should never have been asked in the first place. It shouldn’t be normalized that when a man is accused of serious abuse the nearest woman is expected to answer for his crimes.

You obviously can

You’re talking about a false dichotomy. There is a lot of room between free speech absolutism and protecting Taylor Swift, specifically, from any and all criticism.
NoNudeNormal
This subreddit has always been heavily moderated and has never promised to be a bastion of free speech.

Sure, but Jay was talking about something different than the general discourse around the show.
NoNudeNormal
Jay wasn’t criticizing the decision to have Will come out, or even the way that self-acceptance was tied in to the fight against Vecna, he just said it should have been executed as an intimate scene rather than a cynically melodramatic big moment.

Antisemitism against Canadians is a Canadian issue, apart from anything to do with Israeli propaganda

Because the fundamental dishonesty of your position is extremely transparent and not at all convincing.
I’m not insulted by someone claiming the Earth is flat, it simply is not true. Same thing here. If someone did not settle Canada they are not a settler. If someone did not colonize Canada they are not a colonizer. That’s about what is true and what is false, not about what is insulting or not. Muddying that with appeals to academic authority doesn’t change anything; flat-Earthers can do that too.
How do you see that region of the world transitioning from how it is now to that ideal state?
I believe Jews and non-Jews can co-exist, but former IDF members living peacefully alongside former Hamas members is harder to accept as realistic.
