Their website reports the average processing time rather than a maximum wait, some people will be waiting much longer and others get processed faster, for no reason that is apparent.

A .303 limits your options to only large outdoor ranges, your membership of SU limits your options to public ranges and Tuesday limits your options to, well, none that I can think of.

Hopefully there is a range and a member willing to take you along.

Alternatively, have you considered taking the whole family to the range at the weekend and having a family-centric session there?

If the clays are close, or coming toward you, like Skeet competitions then a cylinder and skeet choke would be ideal, it's not important which order you use them, don't overthink it, as the worry about having the wrong choke will affect your shooting more than actually having the wrong choke.

For DTL a modified in your first barrel (usually the lower one) and an improved modified in the second will work just fine, the clays are all heading away from you so a tighter pattern is needed.

Personally, I'd recommend two light modified (3/8) chokes and have both barrels the same, then never change them or worry about chokes again.

Out of the box (or the dealers) there's not much between the MkIV and the Buckmark, however, the after market options for the MkIV (especially Volquartsen) create an upgrade path to a whole new level of performance and reliability.

If you just want to shoot in club level competitions for fun then either will be fine, but as you improve and get within reach of the occasional win the MkIV will serve you better.

All stores have errors and mistakes that get through their system. Cleavers deal with a huge number of sales, plus they have a lot of staff and a high staff turnover rate so it's remarkable that they don't have a lot more mistakes.

My big peeve with Cleavers is their lack of online inventory on their website, if we all knew what was in stock at the time of ordering we could select alternatives and hopefully avoid extended waits.

No_Laughing

Are you looking to cash in when the next ALP state government gets in and confiscates them all in return for half their market value in compensation? /s

Cleavers are the Australian importer/distributor for Volquartsen, but your local dealer should be able to get one from Cleavers for you. The shorter barrel ones with pinned compensator are banned in NSW I think, so you'll need the longer one.
However, note that a Ruger MkIV is the basis of a Volquartsen so you could get a Mk IV Target (which has the exact same alloy TF lower) and upgrade over time. The accurising trigger kit is the most useful upgrade.

For formal ISSF, as you have noted, sights must black only (no colour inserts), and no compensator is allowed.

It will need to fit inside a standard measurement box (you'll have to look up the dimensions), and it will need a minimum trigger pull weight (look that up too). You can only load 5 rounds in a magazine but larger capacity is OK.

At club level, pretty much anything is generally allowed.

A QLD minor's license is actually of very little use, and can't be 'renewed' into an adult license, you have to apply for a new adult license, this seems to be exactly what you have done.

If it were a renewal, the old license would remain in force for 42 days if the renewal application was submitted before the old license expired, however, you rightly note that this is not a renewal so I don't think that applies.

Your minors license has expired, and you are now a person applying for a new adult license, so you are technically 'unlicensed' until your new card arrives, which means that you are able to shoot under a form 33 at a QLD club but will need somebody that has an adult license to supervise you.

There seem to be different processing queues at QLD WLB, some move significantly faster than others for no reason in particular. You can call them to see if there's a problem (you may have missed a call from them asking for additional information), if the application looks OK and they think you've waited long enough they can process it within seconds on the phone (if they want to).

But an A/B license would have been a more useful path, or both at the same time as the QP515 is free.

If the parts are complete exchange units like springs, pins etc, and you are directly swapping one part for another then it is the same basic maintenance that you would perform to replace any like-for-like worn or broken part.

If you have parts not designed for that bolt and you're cutting/shaping them before they go in, or drilling holes that weren't there before, then you're into armorer territory.

If you go the DIY route, I'd recommend taking pictures as you go, sometimes things that look easy to put back together can be challenging.

The form 33 will need an ID number to be recorded, with no school photo ID or government photo ID you could use a certified copy of a birth certificate combined with a phot that a JP has signed off as genuine.

A lot of the firearms legislation isn't very well thought out but approved ranges have to follow it, or they can be closed down. Maybe discouraging access for minors was always the plan.

A major PF of 165 using a 147 grain pill would be around 1120 fps

ADI's load data for APS950 has only one entry for a 147 grain which is 4.7 grains maximum with a velocity of 926 fps and pressure of 34,000psi.

With the maximum being 35,000psi for 9mm I don't think you'll find any load data for major for any powder/pill combination without running dangerous over-pressure.

Probably best to move to 38 Super.

That's not how it works.

When first connected in parallel the battery with higher voltage will send current into the battery with the lower voltage until they equalize.

Once the voltage is the same on both, the capacity will be combined and there will be no current, and no drain, from the newer battery to the old one (unless your old battery is end of life and has a very high self discharge rate).

Ask the electrician about neutral bonding, the Victron ground relay will earth the neutral when inverting but your grid feed will earth it elsewhere. When you switch from invering to charging it can trip the residual current breaker on the AC input to the Victron.

Smart Shunt goes on the negative battery line (black), fuse can be on either.

The number of isolator switches on the mains paths seems excessive, MCBs work as isolators too.

Your AC statements are correct, the Multiplus has a grid set point and can back feed power out of AC-IN (towards the grid) to maintain a set value on the meter, it will need a grid profile to be configured through VEConfig for this so you'll need an mk3 USB cable. I find that this varies by +/- 200W as solar input and loads vary.

Consider adding an external AC transfer switch on AC-OUT-1 (such as an APC unit designed for computer servers) that can switch to grid power if there is zero output from the Victron. During firmware updates and some configuration changes, the Victron will shut off completely, no inverting and not even passthrough.

If you get a grid PV system, consider connecting it to AC-OUT-1, its power will go to loads first, excess will go to the Victron battery charger and finally to grid feed-in, it will also continue to work during a grif failure. If you aren't set up for feed-in then the Victron will shift the 50Hz of it's output to tell the grid PV unit to back off. DC-coupled solar is more efficient though, use a Victron MPPT unit and the GX will control it.

ESS has a charge window timer so you can set battery charge schedules based on time of use power plans. It will also charge when needed if the batteries drop below a defined state of charge.

Finally, have a look at the Multiplus II GX model, it has the Cerbo functionality built in, although with far fewer ports, but is ideal for small setups.

I have a 3P75CT on my grid input, and the measurements that it reports don't match the power company smart meter very well. I suspect it may be related to reactive loads such as AC compressor motors and pool pumps.

I've ordered an EM540 to replace it, as the power actually passes through it, just like a smart meter, so I'll see if that improves measurements.

I currently have to run my Multiplus II with a -170W grid set point to prevent grid feed-in according to their smart meter.

These posts that summarise the titles of the bills completely ignore that the lobyists that actually write them have no regard for cost to tax payers or they insert a whole load of sneaky and underhanded clauses, when any politician, or party, see the BS that they are trying to pull and vote against the bill, which is generally "all or nothing" we get summary posts like these to say look how bad they are.

No_Laughing

One important thing to remember about these pieces of legislation is that whatever the lofty title, the content itself always contains clauses written by lobbyists that are being 'sneaked through' or otherwise poorly thought out and are absolutely not in the interests of Australians.

The only fair assessment would be to quote the reasons given for opposition to each of these, not just a title and for/against summary.

Too heavy for hunting (you're probably better off with a lever release there anyway) and only two shells can be loaded into any shotgun for clay competitions, so the tripple-barrel shotgun is really the engineering answer to a question that nobody asked.

License renewals are processed in expiry order, so the ones that have expired are always front of the queue, if they get through those then the ones about to expire are next.

There is a two week wait for your new card after the renewal is approved too, so if you don't get the approval email in the next 2 weeks you will be without a valid license card for a while.

If you need to go to a range with an expired license card, as long as it's within 42 days of the expiry, you can take a copy of the email acknowledging your renewal application and your license will be accepted.

No_Laughing

I didn't think the range allowed calibres that are big enough to need a muzzle brake. Have you considered going to the gym and building some strength in your shoulders instead? 😄

There were significant changes to the Committee at the end of last year, and the office staff have also been replaced.

The entire culture of the club appears to be shifting towards enhancing the experience for members and guests.

A SSAA branch that's not being run by 'fuds' will take some getting used to. 😄

It's almost like losing around half a million votes to One Nation from shooters and their families was causing them some concern.

Looks like we get a reprieve until the next ALP government, let's just hope that Albo takes his entire party down with him when he goes.
