Just think of this as the opening salvo in a long line of boundary setting. You have to establish your authority now. Your kid, your rules, full stop.

Odd that they showed up with CHP and not a sheriff. If I had to guess I'd say they went overkill to avoid having to come back. Forcing property access is a huge pain and not something the workers will want to deal with more often than needed. Especially after the shootout with a property owner earlier this year.

You should have her check out the "you are not so smart" podcast. David McRaney started out teaching people to identify logical fallacies and their own biases. Over time it's shifted to why people think the things they think, then how to change people's minds.

Pretty text book abusive cycle. Making sure the people around you think he's a good guy is all part of the plan.

Your home, your rules. You can't keep him from seeing her, but you don't have to allow it to happen in your home.

My parents are going through this same dilemma right now. I basically told them they don't have to do things equally or even equitably. It's their money, they earned it, none of us are entitled to it and none of us are entitled to dictating how it's spent. If they want to give my sister 50k and give me $3.50, that's their prerogative. No hard feelings. It's tough though because much like your situation, the child of theirs that needs it most will also be the one most likely to blow it.

What I think it comes down to is this. Why are you giving a gift? Because it will make you feel a way. If your youngest wastes all of it, will you still feel that way after? Or will the gift be tainted? Will you be able to hold onto those feelings if you withhold the gift?

I had a similar problem in Australia. Westpac ended up charging me $50 plus conversion fees to mail the check to a US bank which then wired the money back to Westpac.

Here's a Spotify playlist with the mix as well, but you need to set crossfade to 10s

You should check out the podcast "By the Book". Each episode they try and spend some time living by the rules of a self help book. However, the consequences aren't always great (French women don't get fat did not go well).

He took the babies bottles, breast pump, and carriage. There's a pretty good argument to be made for denying basic necessities.

Just wait till you star going grey. My hair is black and curly, but most of my grey hairs are straight, so they are constantly poking out the top of my hair.

Basically humans play the mind of the other humans. Think of the princess bride scene. Humans try and predict what their opponent will do, learn counters to well known moves, and attempt different strategies depending on who they're playing.

Computers on the other hand, work off of probabilities. They figure out all possible moves for black and white for the next 5 or 10 or however many moves. Then the computer decides which series of moves ends best for itself, and which set of moves ends best for their opponent. The computer assumes their opponent will choose the best move, and the AI tries to make its own best move under this assumption. Different AIs might have different criteria for what constitutes the "best" ending. To an onlooker, there is no strategy or style, it just makes seemingly random moves until it wins.

The only legal defense for use of a firearm in most cases is defense of your life or anothers, and shooting someone in the leg doesn't fall in to this category.

This was a pretty cool exception (minus the shitty commentary).

Actually, it depends on which life table you're using, remember this uses data between 2000 and 2007. According the the American CDC life tables, life expectancy of a 20 year old male in 2000 was 75.2 and in 2007 was 76.4. Likewise, for a 20 year old female in 2000, we have 80.3 and in 2007, 81.2. So the quoted 75 and 81 respectively seem about right.

Now that being said, here is the original journal article. I didn't go through the whole thing in detail, but it doesn't really seem to agree with aids.about.com conclusions.

This video is a bit campy, but it's also an informative and entertaining part of a "send the fish back down" campaign. Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiZFghwVOyI
