The annual trimmed mean, a measure of underlying inflation, also picked up to 3.6 per cent in September. The August trimmed mean was revised lower to 3.5 per cent.

The actual story. Headline inflation means nothing as far as the RBA is concerned, so why focus on it?

I dunno. I get that the overarching principle is one of non-violence and not supporting any wars anywhere (unless the UN says so). But at heart that's still a pretty dumb position.

The UN is a flawed institution, and while it's better than nothing, holding it up as the ultimate arbiter of truth and justice is just wrong.

Sometimes you have to fight, and any defensive war is completely legal under international law not to mention basic principles of human morality. If someone is trying to kill you, you absolutely have the right to use violence to defend yourself. And you are absolutely allowed to use force to defend someone else as well.

So Shoebridge's argument just fails completely, and I don't understand why he keeps doubling down on it.

Depends on what your definition of "is" is.

So let me guess, now that the other team is in charge, they're suddenly going to start doing their job properly adn holding the new government to account? Strange how that works out.

Not_Stupid

What about they/them panic? Checkmate wokeists!

Not_Stupid

That's $2 trillion getting pissed up against a wall...

Yes, it's really unfortunate too, cause otherwise the Ultra was such a great phone. Now I'm back in Samsung land, and all for the sake of a $0.30 usb connector!

Not_Stupid

For whatever goddamn reason, Motorola decided to completely cheap out on the USB port, even on the Ultra, with a USB 2.0 connection!

It doesn't support video out at all, with a max bandwidth of 480Mbs.

My "solution" was to buy a whole new phone.

Not_Stupid

It still does, just for different reasons:

December is for sitting on the beach sinking tinnies.

Bring it on Seppos. We'll sic the Emus on ya.

This is why I only accept the official existence of 6 colours.

Also - he doesn't care about them paying high gas prices because he is making money from it.

Also it's a mistake to associate all Israelis with the horrific policies being taken by their government.

It's... less of a mistake. They ultimately voted for it.

Same with Americans and Trump.

Urg, I am not a fan of watching Rugby at the G.

I'll still try and get tickets, but I won't be happy about it!

Wasn't chess invented in Persia?

Not_Stupid

Did you end up trying this combo?

Not_Stupid

What assets?

Not_Stupid

Bingo - you can be the most god-awful selfish arsehole, but as long as you "oppose abortion" you're still better than all those baby murderers.

Reminds me of a map of Australian aboriginal nations.

Humans together, strong.

Don't give the tiktokers ideas to blatantly copy, over and over?

Or is he lying now? Or is he always lying?

Australia's government spending reached a record high of A$159,682 million in the June quarter of 2026

A growing economy means that government spending will ultimately increase to new "records" all the time. The relevant measure is spending/revenue as a percentage of GDP - which at 28.3% according to the chart, is also historically quite high.

The gap between what a parent is legally obligated to do; and what is required to raise a healthy, successful and well-adjusted child; is quite large.
