Yes it is true. You must report 100% of winnings. Losses (money used to place the bets) are reported on schedule A. They do got begin to offset each other until your losses begin to get you over the standard deduction threshold. Around 13\14k for single filers and 32k for married couples.

So you win 50k off a $20k bet and not see a benefit at all if you’re married. If you’re not married, you will only see the benefit of $6k since you would get the $14k standard deduction anyway.

Nunya13

Yep. Losses can only offset 90% of winnings starting 2026.

Nunya13

Not true. You must report 100% of your winnings as income. Losses are only allowed on schedule A.

Nunya13

No. It’s not like capital losses on Schedule D where all cost basis and losses are taken against proceeds.

The gross gambling winnings are reported as income on your 1040. You are only allowed to take gambling losses as an itemized deduction on Schedule A. schedule A itemized deductions only kick in when they exceed the standard deduction everyone gets, which is the same depending on filing status. For example, a married couple gets a $31,500 deduction in 2025. They can only itemized if their total itemized deductions exceed that amount.

So if someone's gambling losses (money they used to place the bets), on their own or when combined with other itemized deductions, exceed the standard deduction, only then will they begin to be able to take some of the losses against the winnings and all other income.

But I’m sure you can see how the benefit is automatically diminished since only every dollar over $31,500 (for 2025. It’s increasing again for 2026) results in a deduction higher than the standard deduction, and if you cnpant get over that threshold, there’s no benefit at all.

I fully agree with your assessment. As I was reading, I was thinking this guy is going on this diatribe just he can later say, “but I told you how I am right from the beginning.” It’s a way for him to have a blanket excuse from the start for unhealthy behavior.

Also, he told OP, ”You are just the first person to follow through,” so you’re right that they aren’t interested in getting to know OP but to simply obtain a partner.

Nunya13

It seems your question in the OP wasn’t genuine at all. You already knew the answer and just wanted to respond to everyone with “but it’s a work tool…”

I think about this a lot, too. I’m often blown away by certain comment sections seeing how many people are way over the top about cleanliness. Like, according to the reasons why the insist their way is necessary, I should either be dead or have experienced several boughts of E. Coli, Salmonella, food poisoning, etc. several times over. Yet, I’ve never had either in my 45 years.

Nunya13

I think that’s what they are saying, though. That the dumbass likely wasn’t being malicious and didn’t even think about the fact she included the phone number. There are plenty of people out there who don’t even know how to crop a photo on their phone. They also don’t know they can mark it up (mark out the number).

The dummy probably just took a screen shot and uploaded it straight to FB without a thought.

We’ve been hiring our junior staff after they have an internship with us. We host college kids at our office and show up at job fairs and recruit that way.

The rest of offshore work.

I don't like it, but I have no say.

Nunya13

Yup…deleted by the time I got here 20 min after they were linked here.

I wish it was this simple.

My sister and I were sexually abused by my dad's friend/coworker when we’re around four and five into when we were 5 and 6. I knew it was wrong, I knew I should tell my parents, but I was ashamed and was also a very shy kid. I think I knew that telling would bring a whole lot of attention on me and my sister. I was the kind of kid that couldn’t get enough courage to ask for a ketchup packet from a McDonald's employee no matter how hard my parents encouraged me to do so.

I’m only saying all this to drive it home that it’s not just about kids being told to keep a secret that makes them not want to tell. And I want the parents here to know that simply telling your kids not to keep these kinds of secrets is not a fail safe!

Edited: to remove a lot of stuff I can't believe I said. I guess I was feeling like getting things off my chest.

Just here to say I only use a specific men's brand razor to shave my legs and other parts. They are absolutely able to be used on more than just the face. I realized this after I ran out of my lady razors and needed a new one for a clean shave, so I just snagged my husband’s. I actually liked it better and have been using that same type ever since. It’s easier to just have to buy one pack of replacement heads for the both of us anyway.

Nunya13

I’m a 32DDD, and I refuse to say this in front of guys. Because they'll think I’m lying. Most men would think that means I should have boobs like Dolly Parton or something.

Nunya13

You can measure yourself again. Don't just measure your rib cage under your breasts and around your boobs. You measure the ribcage loose, tight, and tighter. You measure your boobs while standing up, leaning over, and lying down.

Use the calculator on r/abrathatfits.

And don't shy away from the larger cups. That could very well be your problem if you’re shopping for bras at your typical box or department store. They only go to D or DD and rarely do the bands for those cup sizes go below 34. If you think you’re a 32 band size, it might be you’re actually a 30 and that’s why you can’t find bras that fit with your cup size since those stores also don’t carry band sizes less than 32.

If the cups fit you, but the band is too loose, then when you go down a band size, you go up a cup size.

I used to wear a 34C after my boobs grew a little in my late 20s. I was wearing a 34B before that. Neither of them really fit. I never felt supported and my boobs always spilled out of the cups a little. Turns out, I’m a 32F/DDD.

Nunya13

Then he lives in a country where menstrual pads cost half as much as bras. He said they cost $5/pack.

It’s much more likely he dropped a zero or was looking at dirt cheap bras at Walmart or something.

Worked at Wendy’s when I was a teen. Learned the potato trick there when my manager took me out back to smoke weed out of it. LOL!

I billed a client trying to help with the identity verification letter, and he lost his shit. He was completely unable to log in for some reason and, at first, wanted me to call the IRS to verify his identity for him. WTF? lol

I told him I couldn’t, that it wasn’t something probably a system issue given the roadblocks he was hitting, and he kept asking me to help him figure it out. I had four or five emails and two damn phone calls over it. So I billed him. He went on a tirade about how much money he already pays me (only for tax prep, mind you) so I guess he figured he should get any other services that take up my time for free.

Nunya13

Man, I’ve had clients who just cant manage to get an online account set up or even do anything to address these letters. It’s incredibly annoying when clients who treat me like their damn tech support. Between their inability to handle the identify and direct deposit account verification letters on their own, I want to fire them just for being dumb and annoying.

Why do clients think a good use of our time is to help them figure out how to set up an IRS account or log into one?

Nunya13

I played it last year around this time. My understanding is that was after the major update.

ETA: looked it up. Last update to my console was 1.6. I’m SOL on the 2.0 and phantom liberty updates (which lines up with my understanding that some updates didn’t hit XB1).

So I’ll probably give it another try whenever I decide to get the new console.

What does it even matter if they have a disability or do it for safety reasons? No one needs an excuse to drive to a park to walk their dogs so they don’t get accosted by a whack job.

I’m only going to war for a certain amount of time, and I want that to be in the park.

Nunya13

We got our first animatronic for our outdoor Halloween decor. It’s situated to where we can see it through our living room window, and it's been scaring both of us off and on when we walk into the living room.

Nunya13

People are inferring it from then”huge, massive mistake” comment.

Nunya13

I played cyberpunk for a bit. I did not enjoy exploration in it at all, which is why I stopped (exploration is a huge factor in how I enjoy open world games).

I must be missing something. I felt like I rarely encountered anything random. I was always just going from one mission or quest to the next. I had heard or read something about how some updates to the game might not have been present for Xbox One. Maybe that was it?

Nunya13

And birds…according to r/birdsarentreal, at least.

I would never ever proactively reschedule a meeting with a prospect who did this. They immediately showed they have no respect for my time.

Now, if they reach out soon after and say they had something urgent come up and apologize, I’d likely give them another chance because shit does happen. But they would have to be the ones to reach out to me.

Just this week, I had a prospect call the office looking for services. They provided their phone number and an email. I emailed them back and gave them my availability and everything on Tuesday (email obviously because of the deadline) . I still haven’t heard back, and unless they can give me a valid reason other than “I’ve been busy,” I’m not going to meet with them. I’m hella busy, too. Their time doesn’t matter more than mine. A lot of clients seem to think theirs does, though, and those are the clients I’ve been slowly but surely weeding out.
