The age of consent in Japan is 16.

Which means that everyone 16 or older is not a minor.

Age of consent isn't the same thing as age of majority.

Nvaaaa

Is this still mobile only?

Nvaaaa

That's one of those anime that feel like a 5 minute short. Each episode should be longer.

Nvaaaa

That's why I mentioned that "separate fiction from reality" line. It's the go-to answer flung at anyone bringing up these questions. People don't want to think critically about their escapist fantasy, so they attack those who try to start these serious discussions.

Both of those points working together is kinda the reason here that you get downvoted.

It's an isekai story about traveling through the world flying through space and murdering bandits space pirates. Everyone already knows how the decision of the characters are going to work out in this case. The characters are all going to be madly in love with the protagonist and they will never question if they made a bad decision. It's just not looking to be that kind of story.

That's why no one cares about having this deeper level discussion.

Nvaaaa

this entire scene could have been drawn with pajama pants. So why wasnt it ? Why was panties necessary ?

Because they didn't want to wear pants under a dress? But that would've been too easy.

Nvaaaa

Nice. I was hoping for more.

Nvaaaa

Just wait. They'll find a way to change that for the anime. Happened in plenty other isekai stories before.

Nvaaaa

Japan isn't exactly the kind of country where you can openly shit on things as an author, even if you don't like what they do with your work. People might just not want to work with you again if you do.

Nvaaaa

And yet he never faces any challenges that feel genuinely threatening.

Yeah, I want to see you run away 3 days from a massive monster hunting you.

Nvaaaa

I'm kinda surprised a trashy story like this doesn't have a token loli.

Nvaaaa

We actually do see clark when they get anbushed by stella he's he guy that says "Stella,,,," before dying during the beta

Shit, I checked the cutscenes on youtube and you are correct.

I've been thinking all this time that was this Wyzeman dude and Clark never even had model since he never actually appears again during the main game. Can't believe I was wrong and I just forgot about Clark due to playing the demo days before the game fully released.

they never explain why we received the quest for some reason

I think that was related to the dungeon in the beta story period. Since I was already checking for the Clark scene I also checked the item name you got: Sacred Tree's Memory.

I don't think it's ever actually said, but I thought this item was also responsible why you spawned differently than the usual player in the official release part of the game. You get this whole thing that looks more like you're an isekai protagonist being summoned. At least Iori points out that the spawnpoint was odd and not the Town of Beginnings anymore.

Though after re-checking the dialog of the 3 summoners again I'm not so sure anymore about the spawnpoint. That could've been the normal point and the fact that the game has no NPCs roaming the map might have just made me think differently as to why only Iori is in the same area.

But as it is the game sadly sets up a lot and doesn't deliver on it.

Nvaaaa

Dude, with your answers I have to assume you didn't even play the damn game. They quite literally call the post-game boss the god of death in the dialog. https://youtu.be/keI8kCN5Z54?si=JGSprzzq6JY4SEiJ&t=102984

And you can easily see the smaller versions as adds in the boss fight itself. https://youtu.be/keI8kCN5Z54?si=4WRrnAS3eG4loi3q&t=105729

the whole quest is about stopping the death god to so it makes no sense for the lvl 200 boss to be the death god because the quest isn't even finished as more shrines are on other floors

That's exactly the point people are complaining about... Why is the whole story skipped and made meaningless to put this advertised big important boss into the post-game.

All the rest you're rambling about is completely irrelevant. It doesn't matter who or what NPC is an AI or if you see Cardinal with its admin rights as a god.

Nvaaaa

With everything looking so samey and roads splitting up into multiple different places, getting lost is so easy. Not to mention the map is really deceptive. A safe area that looks really easy and close to get to is actually the last possible place you go in the entire quest due to it being on top of a mountain with the road to get there looping around the entire map.

I've opened a youtube walkthrough to look at an unlocked map since I couldn't find one otherwise. This whole map design, especially on the second floor, is just straight up bad. It pissed me off even more that the whole mapping of this game is just completely wrong. In-universe SAO maps unlock as you go, not when you reach a safe area. Unlocking as you go would have at least prevented getting lost.

I thought the worst was running after Saayu. It makes no sense how she even got this far out given that we skipped over the first month and did nothing. And for what? To jump down a scenic cliff I guess. Essentially the devs telling us: "pls feel something, we had no clue how to write a proper story". It was so obvious what was going to happen. This Clark dude didn't even have a model. And if anyone forgot, because I sure had, Clark was her boyfriend. At least I think he was...

In any case. They unexpectedly made the maps even worse because you have to run through caves and these stupidly small ways between massiv walls on floor 2. Early on you could at least see the direction and your marker, that was completely gone at that point. Even if you were higher up, seeing a safe area somewhere down gave you no indication on how to get there. It just reminded me how lazy the devs were for not implementing climbing (and swimming).

Nvaaaa

i never got that impression the multi armed things seemed like the death gods servants to me thats why there are loads in that shadow realm thing you go to

Those in the black space, that you run past to the light, are the small ones that the death god summons as adds during the post-game fight.

and you see the rabbit mask flash up in your head

That's the thing. It doesn't look anything like the death god enemy or its face. More like a weird mask with a zipper in the middle that someone might be wearing. Or a shitty designed plushie.

In any case. The first time you have this earthquake and you see the rabbit thing you end up in the black space and see your character face the large death god. Right after that you start to run through the place past the small ones.

You can check this stuff here: https://youtu.be/keI8kCN5Z54?si=j6PsDonUgPHJvUj0&t=42438

Nvaaaa

no the death god is the person in the rabbit mask.

I don't quite get that rabbit mask part. I checked the cutscenes on youtube again and the death god is definitely the multi-armed thing you fight as post-game boss (no matter how stupid that is, given the narrative with the legendary weapons and such). And this boss face does not look like a rabbit mask except maybe on this one wall in the fourth sanctuary.

There's still some other thing you see in a vision, not sure if they ever confirmed what it was. But it looks more like rabbit than anything else. I kinda forgot most of this shit in the days after playing because it was so meaningless and boring.

It's genuinely insane the last good SAO game is fatal bullet almost a decade ago.

I wonder why so many people seem to like Fatal Bullet so much. From my perspective it has a ton of the exact same problems that Echoes of Aincrad has. A ton of reskinned enemies and every dungeon I remember was this white sci-fi space. And the story wasn't much better. Incredible short and no choices or consequences despite advertised. All you as silent protagonist could do was chose between 2 answers with the exact same outcome. Barely any better than the nodding and smiling from Echoes of Aincrad.

The worst however was the fact that they had 6 DLCs and only the first 3 were in the seasonpass. All 3 of which were obvious cut content from the middle of the game. I pretty much expect Echoes of Aincrad to do exactly the same, considering that they skipped the first whole month of the in-story events.

Nvaaaa

The second episode has shown that the church seems to be able to judge people, so considering the nun in this episode... it wouldn't be a surprise if they also have executioners running around.

Nvaaaa

Amazing how everything you’ve said here is wrong. Wow. Why are you even here?

To talk with trolls like you. The kind of troll that dismisses everything as wrong so you can continue to glaze the game. Do explain to me how I got "everything" wrong.

Or did all the people buying and playing the game suddenly miss it and we had things like hiding, tracking or NPCs on the map? And I guess the round little boss arenas were imagined too. Because of course everything I said is wrong.

Nvaaaa

She may have got minimal screen time but we still knew her.

What do you know about her outside of her name and the fact that she had boyfriend that never appeared?

What exactly did you expect? Because we certainly did not skip anything.

Oh I guess I must have imagined the fact that the game ended after getting 4 legendary weapons instead of 6. And I don't know, what did I expect? Happiness that we killed the boss that was supposed to awaken and destroy Aincrad before anyone even has a chance to clear it?

Nvaaaa

And that specific moment was for the plot and hype of that particular fight.

Plot and hype you say? Do you know what "Quick Change" is? You know, the thing that was available from at least floor 2 in SAO. Yet another thing Echoes of Aincrad does not have.

But let's just ignore that. It obviously goes against your troll narrative of glazing this failure of a game.

Nvaaaa

You can easily check to see that.

I did, but you obviously did not. The only thing that looks properly is the boss room. The labyrinth itself clearly has bricks on the ground and the wall. Go check the 2nd episode of SAO or the first progressive movie. If you want the manga check out the very first chapter of the progressive manga or the third chapter of the Re:Aincrad manga.

You also conveniently ignore the fact that the labyrinth in this game continues after the boss, something that was never a thing in SAO.

Plus Reki kawahara himself work on this game. I think the creator of SAO himself would know what it looks like lmao.

Great. I guess he didn't worked on all the other SAO media when the labyrinth is so different.

Nvaaaa

Or are you ok with people committing suicide? Do you not care?

Do you? The avarage rate of suicide worldwide is 1 person per 43 seconds. On average 2 people die every single second. I hope that information doesn't turn you into a nervous wreck. If it doesn't you also have the "emotional range of a sieve."

We also knew what to expect because… this is what SAO is.

It's not though. But I do think its amusing how you ignore all the mistakes this supposed "recreation of SAO" makes.

In fact you didn’t just buy it, you played through the whole game. So you clearly enjoyed it. If you really hated it that much then why tf would you stick with it through the whole story?

Because I expected the story to have at least some substance. Like the prior SAO games had. But it seems the company ran out of money and ended the game at a random point.

Plus it has not ended because we are literally set to get doc which adds more to the story.

Cool. What do you think is going to happen in the DLC? We already skipped all the expected main story, the collection of the legendary weapons included, and defeated the advertised big bad end boss that was meant to destroy Aincrad. All without any celebration or interest from even your own team.

Nvaaaa

The game looks nice, the combat isn't too bad either. But that's pretty much all it has going for it. It's lacking in so many aspects that could've made this game better in a way that I wouldn't even mind the repetitive enemies.

But we don't even get NPCs on the field, something that every damn SAO game before this one had. Even games as old as Hollow Fragment. We don't have proper exploration (the map should unlock as we go), there's no crafting/smithing/cooking anything, not even damn fishing a staple I thought every game has these days. Every boss is hidden behind barriers or summoned into a closed off area. You couldn't even run away "out of fear" even you wanted to.

You don't have any other skills out of the SAO stories, no tracking, no hiding, no luring enemies (for example with throwing knifes). You can't swim, you can't climb. No puzzles, no hidden dungeons, nothing to find outside of a few chests.

While the game tries to be faithful (even to its own detriment) in terms of monster variety, a lot of the rest is just wrong. The mapping is wrong, the floor labyrinth is wrong in design and layout, the monument is missing names and we should've had way more equipment slots.

And I don't even want to talk about the story. The pacing is awful and boring. They skip the whole first month that should've been used to establish the death game, the main characters, the fear of dying. But nothing. We get rushed through the whole first floor in an attempt to recreate the known SAO story beats: the sword quest, the journey to Tolbana, the raid discussion and the raid itself. Only stopped by the upgrading through a reskinned dungeon.

It's so sad that the game could've been a much better product even with the limitations it clearly had in terms of development.

Nvaaaa

Your entire argument fell apart the moment you said the old SAO games are amazing.

I would argue that they were in fact amazing. Not exactly in terms of gameplay or maybe looks (look at how badly Hollow Fragment has aged) but the story was by far superior. The SAO games were always carried by the story and the SAO characters. Something this new game here is heavily lacking.

Nvaaaa

You can’t tell me you felt nothing when Saayu jumped

The same Saayu that had 4 scenes that combined don't even reach 5 minutes of screentime before the one where she jumped? Sorry to say, but that's essentially the devs poking us with a stick and saying: "hey, I know this you didn't know this character at all, but please feel sad okay?"

This scene was so obvious and expected. The devs didn't even bother to give her boyfriend a character model. All I did was roll my eyes because I knew this would happen from the very start. The long way across the map (something she shouldn't have been able to do, given that she probably didn't level at all in the first skipped month of story) did the rest for my "I don't care" attitude.

or when the screen went black after the Illfang raid and you were in a dark space alone.

That the first and only moment I was suprised. And how did the main story of the game turn out? Run through a bunch of re-used dungeons and the game suddenly ends when it started to get interesting.
